Hi Madam, I have 10 years of work experience in Microbiology/ Molecular Biology & Clinical trial with Post graduation in Microbiology., Medical Laboratory Technician course., Clinical Research and Pharmacovigilance. I'm looking for a job in the USA in R&D as a Microbiologist /Molecular Biology/ QC in Microbiology. Could you please guide me where I should apply and what will be paid in the US for the Microbiology position. In hospital field labs they ask for an ASCP certificate but what about R&D's. Please could you clarify all these.

biotech more focused towards biology, human anatomy, more lab based word-- biomedical on the other hand combination of electrical, mechanical and biology, more industry focused
Well theoretically you can, but practically it will be near impossible. You will have to do USMLE 1 while you are in med school and then complete surgical clerkships in the US while you are a med student (clerkships are usually about 4 weeks. They are clinical rotations similar to what US med students do, so you would basically be considered a visiting medical student. You can't get clerkships if you have already graduated from the MBBS. And you need to complete this kind of rotations in order to fulfill the US medical experience requirements needed to register for practicing in the US) Then u will have to do insanely well in your USMLE step 2 and apply for surgical residencies. It will be insanely competitive as an international. Surgery is competitive even for US graduated so... But if you are thinking of a research degree, similar to what Saloni did, you can do it, no problem. you can get into a Masters or PhD program. You will need some previous research experience to apply to these too, but you can do that in India itself. However, you will not be able to practice medicine in the US. You will be a medical research scientist only.
Don't misunderstand, there are Indians and many other foreign nationals who do USMLE AFTER completing their MBBS, and don't do clerkships either and apply to residencies many years after graduating. It's possible, but it will be hard for a specialty like surgery. Now family med and internal med, pathology, psych are specialities where you can realistically do this.

Hi Saloni, I'm doing my MBBS right now but I think I'm more interested in a biomedical engineering career. I looked into ways I can get into this field with the MBBS and found that there are some masters programs in Bioengineering specifically for ppl from non-math backgrounds like medicine and bioscience. I am wondering whether it would be worth pursuing a course like that because of my lack in quantitative training, would i be at a disadvantage when applying to jobs or to top PhD programs (I want to do a PhD in this subject, but ultimately work in the industry)
I would firstly do my mbbs from a medical collage in India 🇮🇳 after clearing neet... Yes
Just percentage of 12th and in some cases 10th matters too
Even tho 10th and 12th are said to be more important just because of those so called boards which are very normal, but still give your best in 9th and 11th too
