- Last weekend, I got up early on Saturday morning to head up to Derwent Edge to catch the sunrise, enjoy breakfast with a view, and do a bit of bouldering at the Coach & Horses. It was a beautiful start to the day :)

Love the composition Athena. It's really an experience to watch this. Sound design and video image, create such a great atmosphere :)
That music, that view, and your calming humble delivery it’s all perfect. Well done
Thank you so much!
Just went for a lovely foggy forest walk (2 hours) with my parents and dog and now I'm settled down with a cup of tea watching your video! Couldn't ask for a better Sunday ☺️
Yay thank you!
Hi Athena - it was a really pleasant surprise to meet you on Derwent Edge. I planned a 15 mile walk that day and, as the weather was perfect, I just kept going and ended up doing about 32! Great video with a fantastic sunrise sequence - keep up the good work.
This is so so beautiful Athena - absolutely loved it! SO SO relaxing. x
Thanks Sam :)
Love watching you’re video’s Athena! make sure you make the most of you’re youth whilst you have it ~ 63 year old Stu x
Found your channel today and i have to say i really enjoy your content. Your videos have a nice warm feel to them. Subscribed
This is so pure and sweet.
Lovely as always! Getting over stiles with bouldering pads is an experience, as is walking anywhere near low hanging tree branches! 😬
I do think people that dont climb, and only see the vouldering, actually think that we must drive to the base of the formation to climb!
haha so hard!! Especially with two pads. Worth it though :)
Hi Athena , we've been following your vids for a while now, we walk a lot in the peaks and you capture the dramatic landscape so beautifully. If we ever see a walking mattress on the hills we'll check to see if it's you and say hello. Great channel. Take care 👍👍
A great chill pill
I have to say... honey sandwiches is a genius breakfast! I impulse-subbed to your channel, and I'm not disappointed 😄
Same here. She's my fav! x
Careful out there on those rocks Athena:) oh goddess of hiking haha , we need your videos too much , very inspiring thank you !
Sunrise and sunset up there is a sight to see, enjoy.
yes it really is incredible! I caught sunset up there recently as well :)
@@RambleFamily I'm just so greatful to live in this part of the world,it's many wonderful natural sites,to enjoy, year round,in all weathers.
Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity, your a true inspiration .you value the real things in life .good luck with your channel and much more .
Started following you because your so keen on the outdoors, looks like you have a lot of great walks right on your door step. I have the black mountains and brecon national park on my door step to keep me ☺
Those are all on my bucketlist!! I need to visit Brecon national park so any tips, please let me know!
The horse shoe walk in Brecon TH-cam it 😀
@@michaelharris1845 I shall make it my mission to check it out before my next trip!
stunning views - cracking video
What a wonderful morning Athena and you filmed it so beautifully. Thanks for sharing it with us. Best wishes, David
Such wonderful authentic videos, I love them 😁❤
Am heading over to UK from Australia in May with two weeks in Ambelside - Lakes District so really enjoy watching your walks & they are inspiring me to experience THE Great Outdoors
Beautiful scenes and commentary. Really enjoyed the video!
Lovely to watch, Athena. I'm up in the Peak District for a few days start of Feb with the camera. So looking forward to that. Hoping to get some sunset and sunrise shots?? Keep up the great vlogs! Well done!
I know it’s early morning sun but I hope you’re wearing sunscreen on your face when you adventure. I had to limit my time outdoors this last year as I healed from multiple skin cancers and surgeries on my face (at age 26) after years of hiking and fly fishing in the Rocky Mountains.
Love your videos and you’ve inspired me to do more climbing and cycling. :)
Steph D --- very best wishes Steph , I hope that’s the end of your problems. Your point is so valid. It’s easy to skip the sunscreen. Thanks for reminding everyone.
My boys always just threw the water bottle, food, camera, etc. inside the bouldering pad. Why are the climbing guides sooo heavy? Twice as heavy as any other book.
What a beautiful bouldering spot ! Standing up so proud on the ridge. That last shot while you were packing up was so cool ! Is that Gritstone what we call Sandstone? So many slopers that just want to keep your skin. Chattanooga is famous for our Southern Sandstone. We have hundreds of miles of it. We can start in Alabama and climb all the way through Tennessee and Kentucky to West Virginia.
Thanks for another wonderful quarter hour and a beautiful sunrise to boot. I really appreciate all the effort you put into these videos.
Des vidéos toujours très romantiques dans des lieux qui respirent la mélancolie... C'est simple mais toujours réconfortant, comme de boire un bon verre de vin après une journée difficile😊
Great video and trip out Athena, watching all the way from Abu Dhabi😀. I can't wait to come home for a week in April though, missing nature and the Peak District like mad.
I used to live in Abu Dhabi!! I'm watching these videos too and they make me feel like heading straight out into the great outdoors....
@@BellaDiary No way, small world hey 😀. You will probably appreciate why I'm desperate to get back to nature then. Been one of them gloomy kind of days today with lots of sand in the air. Not long to go until I get my fix though 😁🌲🌿🌱
I recently started watching your videos and absolutely love them. You capture the outdoors so beautifully and have inspired me to get out more. If you haven't done one already, I would love to see a video of your favourite hiking/bouldering/camping equipment/clothing as I'm looking to update some of mine but not sure what to invest in. Thanks!
Hi athena What a beautiful morning to be out enjoyed that atvb chris
Good for you!
Loving the bouldering. Would love to see more of the spots around the Peak District. I've only ever bouldered indoors but living near Sheffield it seems a sin not to climb on the grit at least once.
Derwent is beautiful first thing. Great vid
great, i enjoyed that
Great video you got some great views great job 👍
Hello Athena.....at 4.40 the view looks like you’re about to munch honey sandwich’s on top of the world. Great video again. 👍🏻
Great video footage you captured a stunning sunrise and the boulders look very impressive in the sunrise lighting thanks for sharing your adventure. see you in the next
Hey, what’s the bouldering guide you are using ? Great video
Really lovely videos! Please tell me how you manage to find such good music choices on a TH-cam copyright-free licence?
A bit OTT Athena carrying your mattress from your bed up onto the peak district a well informed video as usual .
Hi Athena have you ever been up Black combe near millom in the lake district if you ever do you will see one of the most gorgeous sunsets in the country and spectacular views of the isle of man .....please try in summer and enjoy....stswart
😎😎😎
You should do a video on Chee Dale. Brill vid as always keep it up
If you don't have one already, could you please do a video about Bouldering?
I haven't done one - what kind of video would you like? A kind of beginners guide, or just about my experiences?
@@RambleFamily The Blooper Reel
@@RambleFamily About what it is and the history of bouldering please. I am truly clueless about it.
Lovely video. Me and my wife love Derbyshire but we've not been to that exact spot yet. The last walk we did was Limestone Way Matlock to Bonsall, not the Peak District as such but great views all the same.
Hi Athena. Were your sandwiches wrapped in waxed fabric (eco freindy replacent for plastic)? If so, how do find the practicalities of using it? Is it easy to keep clean and sterile? Thank you.
It doesn't matter how well you have your rucksack packed, in the event of a fall you need someone with you.
Can I ask where you started this walk from? Where did you park? X
Wonderful to watch during my lunch break at work. QQ how/why are those boulders where they are, out there on their lonesome? A natural feature?
Better luck next time but the views were really special Athena
Hello, what book are you using?
Keep up the good work !
Jakub J hey! It’s the Peak Bouldering guidebook by Rockfax 😊
Please could you tell me which bouldering book this is?✨
It’s Peak Bouldering by Rockfax 🙂
What's the book you have been checking the problems in?
Hi Athena, I've just watched this and I really enjoy your camera work, particularly use of light. I've followed your channel for a while and your Insta and I wondered if you would be interested in joining forces for a mountain day if you're over in Snowdonia some time, particularly if I could add some aerial shots to one of your videos. Let me know. Cheers.
Athena,
Your excursion to Derwent Edge reminded me that I was once intrigued with a bit of music written by an acquaintance of mine here in California: "Derwent Vale" by Scott Nygaard. Knowing nothing about the area of Derwent (Edge, Vale, Valley, etc.), I still wonder if they are related or merely coincidentally similar in name. Searching for something on the Internet yields very little except for a tit-bit about a valley drowned/flooded by the placing of a dam. Here's a link to the musical item: th-cam.com/video/viL5FyAjhTk/w-d-xo.html
Rod Freeland, Berkeley, CA
Athena, I quite like your music choices for your videos. Have you heard of an american artist called Ray LaMontagne?
Hey! I have, i love his music :)
@@RambleFamily cool, my fav song is "old before your time"
look forward to the dog walking videos
I would just lay down on it with a cuppa and have a nap😁
How do you get to Derwent Edge?
A. Practice, Practice, Practice
Peak practice
Bye
Great video ...STEWART
"very sexy voice this morning"
There that's far more accurate 😊
Beautiful morning btw.
