its really a shame. i’ve always preferred the latex masks. they look so much more animated and hold more character, and the movement is much smoother. I always assumed they stopped using the latex masks to better differentiate them from the showbiz characters but I’m sure cost has a lot to do with it.
They stopped using them because latex would rip and get worn out where plastic holds up better
I like all the latex masks, except for helen. They could have prevented the melting by having plastic support on the under the latex to hold it up.
Latex rotting is indeed a factor, as I've lost a few latex Halloween masks that way, before I improved my care methods for them. (Vinyl and silicone rubber masks last a lot longer.)
Though to me, the Concept Unification Chuck E. Cheese's latex mask looked a little weird. The plastic one is more on-model, but it does make the robot look more like a larger Studio C animatronic. Helen Henny's latex mask looks REALLY weird and freakish, while her plastic mask is more on-model. But the latex Mr. Munch, Jasper T. Jowls and Pasqually look good. (With Jasper, it's crazy how his appearance can vary greatly between animatronics, puppets, costumes and promotional artwork.)

The early latex masks were very off but tbe 1995-1999 ones are my favorites
Do you think the company are that lazy to create new latex masks for the characters just in case their masks are starting to deteriorate?
They don't even make the plastic ones anymore unfortunately
I remember when we went to a chuck e echeese with these masks and helen's mask was fucked.

I don't find them scary. I much prefer them over the plastic masks I like chucks plastic mask the most.
