This is one of my favorite barbershop arrangements of all time, and you pulled it off really well! I love how clearly each part comes out, it just sounds absolutely magnificent. Thank you for posting!
This contains elements of mastery. No doubt your technique is proficient, you've more than adequately illustrated the passions evoked by this piece, your production is precisely orchestrated and you dedicated clear efforts to perfect it. Because of this, we are grateful and humbled that you would give us such a performance free of cost and without hinderance. Thank you, sir. God bless.
Dude, that last chord was absolutely beautiful...I saw the basses/baritones take the breath to bottom it out, and got chills before I even heard it, I already knew it was gonna be intense...And more chills around 45 when the basses drop down...very epic, I love the sound of a men's choir, and you did an amazing job keeping everything in tune!!
Thanks for the comments. I usually start with the lead, then bass, then tenor, and bari last. It depends on the song though. I think that is what I did in this song, but I can't remember. :)
Thanks Stephen. I actually ended up buying a new Shure SM58 last week, so if it sounded weak I can't blame it on the mic. :) Glad you liked it and thanks for listening.
Wow! I was positively dancing at my computer! I cut my teeth on this song -- Mom raised us singing -- but you've provided new verses. THANK YOU! You now have a new subscriber.
Thanks Josh. Yeah, I didn't know what to do about the video, but oh well. And believe it or not, I purchased a Line6 TonePort UX2 and a Shure SM58 mic last weekend. I believe the Toneport is the same that Simon uses. But thanks for the comments! Hope to see a new one from you soon! Take care Buddy!
WHOA..... O.O This is easily the most impressive mix of vocals and tech that I've seen on TH-cam so far. And probably on the best song to do it. Kudos, man!
Vance, I am sitting here wanting to tell you how your music affects me and simply can't find the words. You are , . . incredible. I already have the VM version of this that I have listened to probably hundreds of times. I can't honestly say that you won't take their place in my listening queue. I found this last night at 1:30 and listened for another two hours. Thank you. I have sent a link to this to everyone I know. I am awed.
It's amazing what can be done with tracking your voice several times, adding a wall of reverb and a wall of chorus effect. I've been a sound and recording engineer for 20 yrs, Nice tricks of the trade.
Thanks Mark! The video is as you say, but for audio I sang each part 8 times separately (8 Lead tracks, 8 Bass tracks, 8 Tenor tracks, and 8 Baritone tracks) to sound like an entire chorus. I also added 2 tracks for snaps and claps...a total of 34 tracks!! Pretty fun, but I strained my voice singing so many tenor tracks at once (not a true tenor). I learned my lesson and the next time I recorded a choir video (see my video "Sweet Hour of Prayer", I split the tenor parts up while recording.
Dude that rocked. I will be singing this version next month, so I know what hard work you put into this. Esp with all of the key changes. Much respect and Love on this.
(cont'd) But my favorite "thing" about this whole video is that, ok, here's this normal dude just chillin' at home in his Mt. Pleasant t-shirt, baseball cap, playing with the computer......and out of his mouth......(why has he got 16 of himself, geez) comes this chorale of voices belting out acapello a beautiful old spiritual with "zillion-part" harmony! I sure wasn't expecting that. Loved it. Sounded terrific. Thanks!!
Thanks for giving me the tips last week. I downloaded Sony Vegas pro movie and mixcraft 5 trial versions, scoured the internet looking for tutorials, and slowly figured out how they work. I did my first-EVER voice recording on a laptop at my organ (4 clips in moviemaker off my webcam) and then poured it into vegas pro and figured it out. I then put the .wmv file into mixcraft and added an organ track. I think I created a monster. But it's a starting point. Thanks again for the inspiration!!!
Thought you had the title wrong at first... I had never heard it called "fit" instead of "fought" in the title, so I did a search on it. I guess you learn something new every day! At any rate, a great, great job. I'm really happy to have stumbled over your videos. Keep up the good work.
OMG - you are so talented! This sounds amazing, full, like you are part of a huge chorus :) I really enjoyed the tight harmonies, even the dissonant ones. Nice reference on the end too.
No, I recorded each vocal part 8 separate times. If I had only duplicated each track, it would just sound like a quartet that is real loud. :) I was going for the "choral" sound and believe I achieved it. No? Thanks for listening!
Totally amazing! I had someone just listen to it .... they did think it was a whole chorus. Said they were amazed at how 'all those voices blended so well.' Doncha love it! Wish there were a way for you to submit a video to be a contestant on America's Got Talent .... don't know how you'd perform....maybe have 3 parts on video and you stand beside the images and sing your part....I don't know how you'd do it - but I'll bet you'd WIN!!!
Yep...check the description of my video for the break down, but yes, all my voice. I am a baritone (wannabe bass). :) Thanks for listening and watching!!
Id love to say something but everyone pretty much summed it up. I will add that you get the senses up and jumping when the snaps and the claps kick in. Keep it up man!!!
Thanks for your comments. You can either download the video via realplayer, or if you want to send me your email address I can send you the mp3. The video is too large to send. Thanks again! :)
This is still amazing to hear after all these years! Blessings to you Vance in Jesus. Check another song to sing called “Humble Yourself” by Praise & Harmony.
I know I'm WAY late to the comment party, but I just today discovered this masterpiece. Incredible job, Vance. I did this type recording once with a barbershop quartet song and it always amazed me that it sounds so plain when you sing each part 1 time. Then when you double to 2x per part, it adds a whole new dimension like you added 4 or more per part. And you did what? 8 times per part? It sounds like a 200 member chorus!
It may be not be obvious to you but it is true. Only 4 videos, but I did record each vocal part 8 times a piece. There is no way to get that sound with only singing it 4 times with a chorus effect.
Yes, I owned a music studio for several years. I usually always used a BLUE condenser mic for my studio work, however, in certain situations the 58 actually sounded better. For TH-cam quality, there isn't much difference.
lovelovelove this song, love your version, but I kept getting confused singing along because it's different from the version I've done before! BEAUTIFUL.
We listen to KLUV every morning and heard them play this on their show, long ago. My wife said isn't that the guy that you play his videos all the time? You are awesome!
You did indeed. It was just so together it sounded like multiples of the audio tracks. lol Perhaps when I can finally afford my own equipment, I'll be able to sing more together too. lol I've only been able to borrow a friend's equipment once or twice and I've only been able to get one tag out (granted, I only borrowed it for an hour or so).
If it's that what you're asking... It's an effect where you hear a high pitch higher than the 4 barbershop pitches sung, created by the interactions of each notes... if you still don't get, all I could say to you is look it up...
wow ! That was very good and very entertainging ! you did a very good job. and I think you're one of the first to record a whole barbershop song with video...way to go.
wow man, that was awesome, and great tag =D, good effort, and sorry it took so long for me to watch it. thats easily my most favourite barbershop song, and it aint easy, specially some of those jazz chords. You did a really good job it. well done =)
@choppers147 I imagine that some of those dislikes are because of his tone. This song is almost always done with a men's choir where pronunciation and enunciation are very important.
WOW. Absolutely fantastic. First of all, your voice is incredible. You actually pulled off that entire vocal range? Sang every part from bass to tenor and the lead on top? Good effort, man, but afraid you really just didn't quite pull it off. Naw, what you did was NAIL IT!! whoa. really pretty impressive. And with terrific tone, perfect pitch....
Oh really? Smart guy you are. Did you really think I would try to video record this 16 times? Or scratch my nose at the exact same time, or move my head to every part at exactly the same moment through out the entire song? At one point, did you really think I did that? Man...can't pull one past you! It cracks me up to think you thought I did. And obviously you did or you wouldn't have posted the comment. LOL!!
Subscribed before I even clicked the LIKE button! Can't wait to see all you have done here! This took me somewhere else, wondering which one of you to write to! LOL Not buying the religion scripture part, but the unique singing, something to like here!
Hey Sean! Thanks for the comments! I listened to a few of your tags. You have a great voice! What software are you currently using? Most of my tags I was using Protools but I sold my studio back in April. The last three vids I have done have been on Mixcraft (audio). It's easy to use. It's PC's version of GarageBand. My video editing software is Ulead VideoStudio 11. Pretty easy to use after getting used to. Keep posting them!! It's great to see the multitrack community growing!!
Nice job, but to get the ideal barbershop mix you should go with 8 bass tracks, 6 lead, 4 baritone and 2 tenor with the snaps and claps. Should increase your lock and ring! The fun of the VM is the incredible wall of bass in your face!
That's one impressive multitrack! Really enjoy listening to this one every now and then.
This is one of my favorite barbershop arrangements of all time, and you pulled it off really well! I love how clearly each part comes out, it just sounds absolutely magnificent. Thank you for posting!

I love Jesus, I love the Bible, and I love the vocal projects you post here! Thank you, Vance, and may Gob bless you and multiply your ministry!

This is awesome Vance!!!!!! Time well spent, and sync as perfect as i've heard yet!!!You sound greet as a chorus Man!!!(Randy)
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback and thanks for listening!!
As long as there are vids like this on youtube I won't need any food or drink or sleep. This is all I need to survive.
Thanks Josh. Yeah, I didn't know what to do about the video, but oh well. And believe it or not, I purchased a Line6 TonePort UX2 and a Shure SM58 mic last weekend. I believe the Toneport is the same that Simon uses.

This was arranged by David Wright. Check the video desciption for his website. Thanks!
WHOA..... O.O
This is easily the most impressive mix of vocals and tech that I've seen on TH-cam so far. And probably on the best song to do it. Kudos, man!
I love all the different key changes in this one. That must have been SUPER hard!
Vance,

wow, i love how many voices are all together singing that. great song sung well!
I don't care if you did four voices, 32 or a million, this just sounds fantastic!
Seriously, beautiful man, completely beautiful
Thanks! I appreciate you comments. And thanks for subscribing. It means a lot. :)

You wiped me out, goosebumps all over. Thank you so much for this amazing work!
Vance, this is incredible. So much power behind all of it... Probably one of my favorite multitrack videos on here yet :-)
Dude that rocked. I will be singing this version next month, so I know what hard work you put into this. Esp with all of the key changes. Much respect and Love on this.
Thanks. I always appreciate your comments.
WOW! That was beyond amazing. Truly wonderful! Thanks for taking the time and putting in all the work to share this.
(cont'd) But my favorite "thing" about this whole video is that, ok, here's this normal dude just chillin' at home in his Mt. WOOOOH!!! I listened to your other stuff and it was good, but this is incredible. Very very amazing job. i'm speachless of the awsomness.
One of my favorite songs. Better than a whole choir. Me loves!!
You are welcome. I saw them do this in Little Rock a number of years ago and they were awesome!
you deserve an award for this

Wow, haven't seen this done so well ever since I saw the Vocal Majority in a live show. Nice job, dude.
MASTERPIECE! I am astounded!
Thank You for a memorable performance!
Thanks! I used Ulead VideoStudio 11.0 on this one. For my newer videos, I used Sony Vegas Pro 8.0. Thanks for watching!!
Very impressive. Sounds like a real full chorus. Doesn't even have that sound people usually get when you sing with yourself. Very nice Vance!

Wowzers. Didn't expect a voice like that, AKSHULLY.
Great job, mate.
16 tracks makes for really good or really bad sound. This is extremely fantastic!!!!! Very well done!!
Thanks for your comments. You can either download the video via realplayer, or if you want to send me your email address I can send you the mp3. The video is too large to send.
Thanks again! :)

You are a blessing. Amazing! Fabulous! Lots of hard work! Keep it up!

Thanks Randy. I look forward to colaborating with you.
lovelovelove this song, love your version, but I kept getting confused singing along because it's different from the version I've done before! BEAUTIFUL.
Brilliant - A mixture of the Blackwood bos and the beach Boys ! Love it.
Yep, you are right. Wish I could redo it.

Dude, your real good at multitracking. Keep up the good work!

That's really awesome ! I rated it 5/5 :)
Thanks for that amazing a capella song !
David Wright arranged this for the Vocal Majority. harmonize(dot)ws/DavidWright
Unfortunately TH-cam has reduced this to 144p! The lowest quality. 😭
OMG!!! this is so freaking awesome!!!! FAVORAITED and SUBSCRIBED!!

I'm a huge advocate of the SM58, but they're actually more meant for live performance. Personally, I use the Samson CO1 Condenser mic.
Can you say WOW?
Great job dude!
Thanks Jean-Baptiste. I appreciate it. :)
i love how the tv is playing in the upper right hand corner
