Never trust the state government/bureaucrats to do the right thing. I would love to see an multi-year audit of the DNR and see where all the money went and how it was spent. In Hungarian there is an old saying, "the horse that pulls the most gets whipped the hardest". Yes, sadly the Michigan sportsman is the "horse".
Year after year, decade after decade, fewer licenses are sold, fewer hunters and fishermen afield. Government is the only supplier I know that raises prices when demand drops. They don't just raise the price, they change the rules to force us to buy more if we want to hunt and fish. Small game licenses sales tanked, so they invented the "base" license and everyone has to buy one. Not enough trout stamps were being sold to support charter fishermen, so they eliminated the trout stamp and made the fishing license cover everything... at a higher price of course. 7:47 Money for Parks is supposed to come from the "Recreation Passport" tab on your license plate, not hunting and fishing licenses. That one is a good example of how they can screw us, though. The DNR can decide when they want to raise the price of the tab, sort of like the inflation increase proposal here, so it goes up just about every year. DO NOT give them the power to raise license fees as they deem fit. Hunters have been telling them for years, if the DNR wants more does shot, drop the price of the doe tags. If the state wants more hunters and fishermen, drop the prices, make it easier to obtain firearms, make the regulations less complex.
I agree. And I noticed that all the small county parks require a recreation pass now that never did in the past to drive into them. An audit needs to be done of the DNR. I notice they all drive 80,000 dollar trucks!
@@nancywhitaker5096 We were told the pass would cover boat launches that had a fee and state parks. Now, the pass is required for _every_ boat launch and access site, and just to drive through a stat forest campground or use the toilet, plus all parks, etc.
100% agree. This state government always doubles down on a bad idea. I finally got the senior discount and now they'll erase it with a 50% increase. BTW, they're going to make the Recreation Passport the default choice... you pay for it unless you jump through hoops to opt out. This proposal will cause me to stop buying Combo tags. Probably just a single deer tag. I quit Pheasant hunting when they made it an additional $25 license and its going higher?!👎
born and raised in Michigan but my job took me to Georgia . You can hunt Deer here under the $25 big game license and you can take 12, but at least two of them need to be bucks. You can also hunt Bear under the big game license no special permit . I used to come back to Michigan to hunt with my friends but The price is just to high now compared to other states. What a shame, If you think you can trust Lansing to use this increase for conservation just remember the gas tax hikes that were supposed to fix the roads,
I myself have realized how glorious it was paying $26 for an in-state elk tag in Montana

I have been hunting in mi. for 50 years. I have seen a lot of things change in the state but few of them have been for the sportsman . I think my time for now on would be better spent on teaching my grandchildren how to save money.
Its called a bunch of shit ....just like them logging out state game land ...show me where the money is going ...and prove its helping the average hunter
I wonder where the logging profits went. I expect it went to the governance retirement fund (AKA general fund), but that is another money maker that should go to "conservation" Resource management.
I was on state land during archery last season and the racket I heard was a skid steer mulching through the woods removing the undergrowth and small trees. As it approached I sat still until I realized he was going to mow me over so I jumped up waving my arms. He just spun it around and went another direction, never got out and said anything.THIS WAS DURING ARCHERY! They have no respect for hunters.
There's not less hunters. More in my opinion. Looks like less because guys are killing but not buying tags and or reporting their harvests. I hunt 4 different spots in Michigan and it's crazy the amount of hunters I see year after year. The baiting ban caused many hunters to say f the dnr, and guys simply show their gratitude by hunting dishonestly. It's very easy to illegally take game especially on private property.
you don't think it might be purposeful, like 'kelly-humping' the log trails to keep people from using such trails? That would be (just like the Humane Societee/PEETA) a conspiracy! You aren't saying they want us docile and manipulatable, like a slave class? Conspiracy! it could never happen. Lunchbox Joe biden would never let that happen!
i come back to michigan every spring to sucker fish. the license cost 76 dollars. there comes a time you have to say enough is enough. i use to come back for deer season. i think the license was 180 dollars. i stopped doing that. i'll stay in florida and fish. by the way, a hunting and fishing license for a resident 65 years old and older in florida is zero, it's free.
I saw four "workers" (young folks), in a DNR truck this year at a State Park and they were sitting in the truck playing games on their cell phones. I think it was a Saturday too, so you know what that means. 4 in one truck. I don't think one was even 30 years old. (kudos to them for "working" though)
Our biggest generation is retiring from the sport and/or passing away. And younger people are not going in to it. Their not going to make the dnr smaller to compensate for a smaller group of sportsman, their just going to tax the citizen more. And yea one day your gonna have to say enough is enough.
The sportsman has been the target of liberal politics, and this administration is no different. I believe that the State Parks, and recreation should be completely separate from the DNR wildlife department. And funding should be separated. Boat registration fees, shouldn’t be used to build bicycle trails, instead of improving public boat launches.
Anew Republican leading administration is coming in a couple weeks. They got the votes on the new gun laws stopped from being voted on until all the new guys are in.
If the DNR and NRC continue to ignore the sportsman and women of Michigan people will quit buying licenses and either choose another state for outdoor activities or stop doing it altogether. A one size fits all approach to lower Michigan deer management is one big issue that stands out. Some areas are devastated while others are still overpopulated. Yet we can kill 12 deer in either environment. Wake up!
If I have seen the DNR doing good with the money have already get I won’t have a problem with it. But I haven’t. I’m not in the position to throw good money after bad. I pray these do not get passed. Just trying to get ahold of a DNR officer is almost impossible. I will never stop hunting legally but this just makes me mad We’ve already lost so many hunters to other states because of the decline of the heard. The sneaking around on private land by the DNR is also something that makes me extremely mad. Up the road from me a few officers, in the dark , trespassed on. My neighbors land. And shot deer. Took his target buck and snuck away like thieves in the night. Unfortunately for the DNR they were caught red handed by trail cams. Pictures being sent to the land owner in real time. If anyone else did something like that we’d be in prison! And our faces would be on the front page of the paper. But these DNR officers did not face any consequences like that. There was a pay off offered to the landowner and a hush letter signed. Meaning he got paid a undetermined amount and was not allowed to talk about it to anyone.
Well, at 61 yrs old, I can only guess how much we...the older, sportsmen have contributed legally to the state of Michigan over our lifetime. That said, if more current legal sportsmen choose to hunt and fish illegally due to the rising price of licenses, you can bet the government will have to continue to raise license costs proportionally, to offset their expenses for managing our resources. So, as much as it hurts to accept the rising costs, I don't see how the government will ever reduce prices...how about you?
Never sure what to make of a bill being pushed through during a “lame duck” session with only the support of one party. And the long term trend in Michigan is to spend general fund dollars on pretty much every hair-brained idea out there while decreasing funding towards natural resources, with hunting and fishing being pushed further and further into a user-funded, pay-as-you-go model. My read of the of the bill suggested that it was it a fee increase without any earmarking or note of any specific benefit license purchasers would receive from the increase. One item not on the white board is the proposed slashing of the senior discount from 60% to 25%. With regard to deer hunting, the increase of Antlerless licenses seems counterintuitive considering the rhetoric coming from the DNR that Michigan deer hunting do not harvest enough antlerless deer. From there, it has never been clear whether the current DNR/NRC vision of “deer management” is driven by lack of funding or politics.
I come from New Port Richey , Fl I would like to see how much they raise the hunting licenses for the non resident hunting license. It cost a pretty penny for gas lodging, food and ammo . I hunt the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.!
@@larryclark9380 i don't know. i am over 65 and a florida resident so all hunting and fishing license cost nothing. i do know i have a house in michigan and pay ungodly property taxes and when i go sucker fishing for a few days which i have done for 70 years the michigan license is 76 dollars. and i refuse to pay 180 to go to deer camp for a few days. i'm about ready to skip the sucker fishing just to have one less person who buys a michigan license. i can always fish in florida more. if you own a house in michigan you shouldn't have to pay out state rates.
You want to send a message to The DNR and the government. Nobody and I mean nobody in this state by any license. None not one but don't violate the laws either but we all know nobody's going to follow through on their complaints with actions
They definitely should not raise the prices, it certainly will not encourage more hunters. I can't believe the insurance companies would agree to any of this, they dropped the fee for late season doe tags, now they want an increase? Maybe learn how to manage funds a little better. Increase the quality of the bucks in Michigan by eliminating the Combo tags, instead sell a doe/restricted buck tag combo. You fill the doe permit, then get another buck tag.
Gee… when have they ever used our license fees for investment! Never. Why are they losing hunters in Michigan? 😂 Wisconsin is where most of my friends hunt deer. Missouri is another. Michigan is lost.
How much of the money would be earmarked for administration, raises for CO's, new vehicles, equipment for electronic communication etc. What percentage of these new fees is actually going towards habitat restoration, planting of game and fish? What the heck is inflation adjustment? Fees going up never come back down. What are the changes for senior hunters and fishermen/women?
They are already too expensive for us so we no longer go hunting or fishing, this is going to effect more people. What about seniors who are on a fixed income, what will they have to give up to pay these fees? Just like the park fees, automatically added to your renewal which is way over priced. This is another money grab by the state. You have to fill out a form to get the new fees removed. We opt in on some of our vehicles, others we don't. I hope the FUDD's see this and raise a stink. Maybe they will get off their stumps and vote.
In my area in central UP, deer numbers have dropped by over half in last few years. I usually have around 50 deer that winter on my property, and I try to keep them from starving by feeding in the worst months. This year it's almost January and the most I've seen is 9. The grouse, rabbits, and turkey numbers are also low. To make things worse, the large farms just down the road are being converted to a huge solar farm, destroying a huge amount of habitat.
How much of this money goes to Egle? Out of state hunters and fisherman aren't buying the expensive licenses. I only buy one deer license now. For an extra 15$ I can go buy an all year Ohio fishing license.
First of all don't know why they want to raise it up , i have been hunting since October 1 going out mostly every day and I haven't seen a deer yet, they keep boasting about deer numbers, this is the worst I have ever seen, you use to go out and always see deer, now nothing, so I don't know what they are talking about??? Also what ever happen to the snow shoe rabbits?? You can see my vote on that subject on the raising the fees, I am considering just staying home and saving money, it's not worth going out
I'm tired of the bull shit they talk about deer numbers being so high and I hunted8 days between gun and bow season and saw 0 deer so no I don't agree with this at all. As far as the fishing license, for the couple times a year I go I think I may be done.
I was at Cabelas in Dundee and I was talking to a gentleman from Ohio. He told me Ohio residents get deer hunting licenses just for paying property taxes. The state of Michigan is not doing a very good job of retaining hunters. There is no incentive for people to come from other states to hunt here in Michigan. If they approve the price increase I think they will lose more hunters and fisherman.
When they forced people to buy a small game license to hunt deer that was the end of my hunting in this state. I'd like to know where all the money goes?
With these increases the DNR will see additional decreases in hunter numbers. At this point a good number of us are living paycheck to paycheck. I cant afford a 50% increase in fees. When was the last time we all had a 50% raise at our job! You want hunters, drop price of doe tag. The DNR should take a look at what the western states are doing. Raise fees for nonresidents and make applications more expensive.
Can hardly afford the $151 base license and the $76 fish license now. Yeah, i live a mile into ohio but, hunt fish and deer camp in UP. Grand kids getting to age 17, will need a loan to get them liscensed .
Market demand. Less interest in a product the price should LOWER! The more demand the price goes up. Unless it is about the Govamint demanding more Revenue from we sheeple, the Govamints slave lanor.
They are a bunch of idiots. They say that their is less hunters. So rase the price. Wow how dum. You will get less hunters. My be do the opposite then see what happens. Must be a bunch of Democrats coming up with this stupidity. Pull your head out your backside and think people. They have no clue what they’re doing.
They pay bean counters a lot of money every year to think up new ways to rip the sportsmen off. Vote no on this increase. How much does a DNR officer earn a year? I bet close to 75 or 80 grand with ot.
Benefits only the DNR pockets and paychecks. Tax the honest hunters & Fisherman. All the while making more and more bs rules. I used to rent a boat slip at DNR Harbors now due to increases i do that very seldom. Harbor had 100 slips open of 110. Too much money. I used buy every License I am stopping that practice. Best
Good video, My 2 cents on the topic. I also wanted to point out they're wanting to lower the fishing license age requirement to 16 instead of 17yrs of age. I feel there are more hunters now than there's ever been based on all of the areas I hunt in our state, however, according to statistics they claim there are less hunters than there's ever been. I believe there are a lot of sportsman already taking both small and big game without a hunting license for the fact they're not allowed to bait and other reasons. I feel this increase in cost will cause more red ass and in turn even more participants in our state will choose to hunt especially without a license. If this passes I believe next year's deer harvest reports especially will show there are way less deer hunters in the state. This will not be true. I guarantee I will see just as many hunters or more in the areas I hunt. I don't mind a subtle increase in the costs for something I love so much but I feel this will be a double edged sword for both annual income and accurate deer harvest reports for Michigan. Thanks for your videos.
It sounds like you were paying more then buying separate licenses when buying the combo license. The fees don't look that large but the annual inflation raise is ridiculous. There seem to be more and more fishing people, especially the newest people in the country. If they are buying licenses. You don't need more access when there are less hunters. Lets get the DNR to not be so overbearing at the shooting ranges they create.
Just this year I've seen the Michigan DNR say the numbers of people hunting is down and they were looking for ways to increase those numbers and get more people into the field. Let me tell you that Raising the cost of a license isn't a real smart idea , how about dropping the prices and enforce the laws against Hunter harassment. There are places around the state that see a good deal of hunters being harassed like in the Atlanta area. Then I saw a report that said Michigan deer numbers are up and less than a week later I saw other reports that said the deer numbers were down. The DNR's requirements on reporting deer harvest is a joke , and let's be clear the information isn't accurate yet it's just another tyrannical rule the hunters are burdened with. How about we rid the DNR of anti sportsman and start fresh with people who love to hunt and fish. Then you have those who enforce the laws that in many cases again harass hunters and like many say you almost need to be an attorney to understand all the hunting and fishing regulations which is another reason we see fewer sportsman. Lets not forget that out of state license fees are also extreme. Much more can be said about the DNR and things like how they have offered rewards to people that report game violations only for the state not to pay out the monies to those reporting crimes but rather giving the monies to friends or family members of people who work for the state. What about the CWD issue and how did it make it's way from Colorado , where it was first reported to Michigan ? So much more can be said but the Michigan sportsman and wildlife continues to suffer while those in charge come up with more regulations, ruin habitat and increase fees and they continue to get away with corruption from within.
Damn shame, their making it hard on the retired guys. No doubt we will lose sportsman unable to pay the extra, or just unwillingly pay the extra. More government greed reaching into our pockets taking everything they can.
What conservation projects are you speaking of i live in the manistee national forest and dont see any of that just more rules and tax fees the citizens are left to clean the ponds, lakes and rivers dnr show up to harss and fine the sportsman and its not their fault thats their job at this point
What do we get for the increase? In the UP we have very few deer, raising prices will eliminate more hunters. We get little to no fish stocking outside a few brook trout in very limited numbers. I understand the Lower Peninsula does have deer, elk, and gets fish stocking, however, since we don't see them these fee increases will just further disenfranchise UP hunters and fishermen.
I do t think there are fewer hunters and fishermen, I think more people are just not purchasing licenses to do so. They are shooting themselves in the foot. The baiting ban plays a huge role in that, in my opinion.
We have to compete in a damn lottery for years and years and hope you get a tag. meanwhile in early fall I see 3 to 12 Bears a day in my own backyard,, and I live in Town.. maybe we should take another look at this asinine lottery system.
I was born and raised in Michigan but have not lived in State for years because I worked for uncle Sam. I am retired and live just across the State line in Ohio. I own property in the UP and have paid property taxes for years and even though I own and pay for this property, I still have to purchase a non resident license. I'm also not allowed to apply for an elk tag. Since the late 80s and early 90s I have watched the deer numbers in the UP steadily decrease to the point that I have seasons that I haven't even seen a deer on my property. It costs me over $270 for my non resident tags and that includes having to purchase a non resident small game license at the same time, even though I'm only hunting deer. That also doesn't take into account the $76 dollar non resident fee for an all species fishing license. I also don't get a senior citizen discount on any of these tags. When you figure up everything I pay for just to enjoy my piece of Michigan, I wish I could get a break on license fees. I also don't see any of the things that the DNR claim they are doing to help improve habitat in the UP. I don't think they need any further increases in license fees.
With the price increase you will even have less hunters hunting. And less people getting started. Way to go DNR this is the last thing this State needs. Very sad to see Michigan go down this road......😢
I'm sorry but an increaes is going to push more out of the game all together .. this is a lose lose situation .. the next move would be yet another increase in short order to offset the loss of more hunting and fishing enthusiasts.. its apparent this is nothing but a money grab exactly like the bundling was
Michigan has ruined the hunting in it's state, especially for deer. I'm a resident, veteran, and CPL holder, but I have to take a 2 day hunter safety course to deer hunt..... Nope. We'll all just stay at home and eat pot roast.
They are also trying to force all vehicles to have the additional fee state park pass on every vehicle you own no matter how many vehicles you own. If they continue down this road, where will they get their funds to support their criminal thievery?
They are going to see people leave hunting and fishing because they won’t have the money for the licenses. And with the money I don’t see them doing anything with it.
What about seniors ? DNR is just a big money grab . Hardly plant any fish in lk. Huron any more . No new boat ramps and piers for public fishing . Farmers do more for deer than DNR with the crops they plant. They call it deer management areas. Food management areas made by farmers . Seniors feel inflation . They don't get a raise.
Cost analysis $10 small game tag (forced to purchase by dnr.... who knows why) $20 deer license $7 gas (assuming you live about 25 miles away and are successful first hunt) $10 Amunition (assuming you shoot 2 times but had to buy the full box of 5 shotgun shells)(other options might be cheaper or more expensive) $100 processing (can be done yourself if you have the knowledge, equipment and time (time has value to) $147 total (and this is a very skimpy list. Could add value of time, extra gas if you drive further or not successful first hunt, extra ammo for sighting in and missed shots, if you do food plots or use attractants, lease cost if you don't have acess to good land ect. According to Google the average whitetail meat (not bones guts extra fat ect) weights 58lbs. So you're meat at the moment is worth $2.53/lb with optional circumstances (some will be cheaper if you process some will cost way more if your not successful) My point is this isn't about a sport (nothing against big buck hunters paying expensive leases so nobody hunts the 100 acres just to see how big bucks get and spend thousands) it's about a natural God given resource (and yes we need to be good stewards) when the cost reaches the same as store bought meat or meat you raise there's no point in hunting if your doing it to save money and provide food. Maybe the state needs to look into mismanagement of the tax dollars and fees first. The people of the state should at any point see exactly where every penny goes and have a say. I'm sure many people have different opinions but the only reason I hunt is to provide food God has given us that saves us money.
Using same concept with turkey comes to around $42 if you process yourself. For $20 more you can have a bigger more tender juicy farm raised turkey and not have to process it. Small game is almost impossible to justify. Fur harvesting is hard to justify because pelts aren't worth anything. Fish maybe if you live on a lake and fish alot. Waterfowl gets tricky depending on species and how good of shot you are but I'm assuming it's pretty expensive meat. If this passes I know alot of people in my area will quit hunting and or just buy one license and treat it as a "hobby" something to blow money at for fun. Still cheaper than a vacation. Also deer herd will explode, car insurance will go up, farmers will get bigger damage on crops ect. Idk if it can be stopped but in my opinion (not saying it's fact) it should. Inflation thing is interesting not a bad idea if prices drop when Inflation drops i do understand that.
Seems like the state should find a way to have fee for those who enjoy the public hunting and fishing lands access but don't hunt and fish but have free access to those lands. Why should the hunting and fishing people have to pay for every one elses access.
Do you have any information on the proposed out of state costs? 50% increase for an out of state license and tag will make my decision a little tougher.
I understand the issues. The biggest problem is the excessive amount. 50 percent??? That is complete lunacy. 2-3 dollars on a deer tag or fishing license is one thing but 50% in many cases again proves how pathetically out-of touch these Democrats and our Lockdown Governor truly are. People can’t afford a pizza these days.
I remember a $10 deer tag. Lived here my whole life and have been hunting for 46 years in Michigan. I buy tags for my two youth sons and it's $100 or more with turkey added on. It's difficult enough to get the kids out as much as possible. Just keeps me from buying my license, I'm just the unpaid hunting guide for the kids. So why not screw with youth weekend too?!?😡
when I first bought a non resident bow hunting license it was 20 dollars add to that cabin rental groceries for four men and fuel they have made it to expensive for blue collar workers to afford. so the state is loosing that money because we quit going then fishing license became too expensive for non residents so no more fishing trips. then I caught a break and moved to Michigan. however then they raised fees on everything and they lost more money because I knew several men that became. poachers saying it was cheaper to pay a fine . my advice is to elect more liberal politicians, things will be better
Listen to DNR has a lot to do with the drop in number of hunters already now they're going to raise the price I've had on some more ridiculous rules wait till they see the decline in Hunters now I don't think they should be in charge of anything especially when you own land you should not be regulated years ago landowner didn't need a small game license to hunt small game or fish on his property now you can't even walk out the door without having to pay them something
Lets also keep in mind how the changes in regulations are really a control issue. Look at the mandatory deer harvest report. The DNR can't seem to decide if the deer numbers are up or down and then you have the hunter safety program where they push more propaganda . Example: They teach about Wanton Waste and you must make an attempt to find the game you shoot at, then they talk about waterfowl hunting and say it's not ethical to shoot birds on the water and yet when your shooting birds on the fly there's a greater chance of loosing them , so why even bring up the question of shooting birds on the water if it's not illegal ? Then you have the issue of invasive species and how you must clean and dry your boat and wipe down your decoys etc. the question then comes, do the ducks that fly by the thousands wash their feet and wings when the go from lake to lake ,pond to pond ,state to state . I sware the common sense of man / DNR is gone in most cases.
I'm going to call bullshit on this price increase, I've been selling hunting licenses for 12 years, and the sales have gone down seemingly. There aren't as many youth hunters as before the last increase. Youth hunters had the biggest jump from $7.50 to $20 plus the base license. So add up 2 or 3 kids plus an adult . So when was the last time salmon or steelhead were restocked or any other?
So they want to charge more at the same time they are selling off state land so we have fewer places to hunt. That's par for the course. What are they doing with all the money they are getting from selling all the state land and from all the lumber from the clear cutting? They should be select cutting to leave some habitat.
At the prices already in place, it is very hard to justify a deer license. If you do, spend your personal time helping to improve the state through conservation. And you are able to get a deer, Are you saving any money at all if you have to get the deer processed with a butcher.
I'll be buying a single deer tag, fishing license that's all. Not that I can't afford the price hikes I just think it's wrong. Especially since they siphon off sportsman's dollars for non fish and game interests.
LMAO 😂
The Michigan DNR is just a total failure. A disgrace. 😢
Michigan is very quickly becoming a $hit hole for everyone interested in outdoor sports, fishing, hunting and general firearms ownership.

We need to go in large numbers to voice our vote! All they want to do is regulate! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
i come back to michigan every spring to sucker fish. the license cost 76 dollars. there comes a time you have to say enough is enough. i use to come back for deer season. i think the license was 180 dollars. i stopped doing that. i'll stay in florida and fish. by the way, a hunting and fishing license for a resident 65 years old and older in florida is zero, it's free.
@@michigangundogoutdoors9234 Non resident fees.
@@michigangundogoutdoors9234 non-resident, lol. Wake up man
@@michigangundogoutdoors9234 if you are a florida resident it's 76 thats where that number comes from.
Less income (specifically # of license sold) should mean less DNR. Simple math.
I saw four "workers" (young folks), in a DNR truck this year at a State Park and they were sitting in the truck playing games on their cell phones. I think it was a Saturday too, so you know what that means. 4 in one truck. I don't think one was even 30 years old. (kudos to them for "working" though)
Raise the fees, no baiting, cut the forests down .Id rather watch tv.
I agree with you. Raise the cost for deer license and then pay $125.00 or more to get processed, don't think so.
Our biggest generation is retiring from the sport and/or passing away. And younger people are not going in to it. Their not going to make the dnr smaller to compensate for a smaller group of sportsman, their just going to tax the citizen more. And yea one day your gonna have to say enough is enough.
I've been there since the last increase. No more. Same with ORV's then add trail permits on top of that.
Wake up!
Until we get the democratic majority out they will do everything they can to discourage hunting in Michigan
If I have seen the DNR doing good with the money have already get I won’t have a problem with it. But I haven’t.
I’m not in the position to throw good money after bad.
I pray these do not get passed.
Just trying to get ahold of a DNR officer is almost impossible.
I will never stop hunting legally but this just makes me mad
We’ve already lost so many hunters to other states because of the decline of the heard.
Call or email your Representive's and senators. It works.
And while we're at it, how is inflation affecting the DNR? The cost of printing a tag is likely 1% or less of the fee.
I hunt the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.!
ammo not that much. the rest cost plenty. i stopped coming back for deer season. it cost too much.
Sorry Jim but looks like %50 if you get lucky. DNR really doesn't like nin residents, never have. Residents love you. You fuel the state economy.
What are the costs for out of state fishing licenses in Florida?
@@larryclark9380 i don't know. i am over 65 and a florida resident so all hunting and fishing license cost nothing. i do know i have a house in michigan and pay ungodly property taxes and when i go sucker fishing for a few days which i have done for 70 years the michigan license is 76 dollars. and i refuse to pay 180 to go to deer camp for a few days. i'm about ready to skip the sucker fishing just to have one less person who buys a michigan license. i can always fish in florida more. if you own a house in michigan you shouldn't have to pay out state rates.
I'm Done.
😂
Wisconsin is where most of my friends hunt deer.
Maybe they should just curb their spending d instead of charging us more. We will not be purchasing any of these this next year. Rediculous!
No way I quit hunting and now fishing what a shame!!!¡
They are already too expensive for us so we no longer go hunting or fishing, this is going to effect more people. What about seniors who are on a fixed income, what will they have to give up to pay these fees? Just like the park fees, automatically added to your renewal which is way over priced. This is another money grab by the state. You have to fill out a form to get the new fees removed. We opt in on some of our vehicles, others we don't. I hope the FUDD's see this and raise a stink. Maybe they will get off their stumps and vote.
I suggest All Michigan residents vote against it if we get the opposition to I will be for the fact they haven't made anything better
AXMITAX JOIN THE CAUSE, that's ax Michigan taxes, eliminate property taxes in Michigan
You can see my vote on that subject on the raising the fees, I am considering just staying home and saving money, it's not worth going out
What about seniors, I've hunted my whole life and when I turned 65, I thought wow I spent alot of money on licenses about time seniors get a break
I think it's a Democrat money grab. My retirement doesn't increase 50%. It's ridiculous!!
Michigan makes you buy a small game license to get a deer license. Any changes there? How about out of state license fee increases?
Can hardly afford the $151 base license and the $76 fish license now. Yeah, i live a mile into ohio but, hunt fish and deer camp in UP. Grand kids getting to age 17, will need a loan to get them liscensed .
Theyre going to price people right out of the outdoors. I won’t buy a fishing license again. Hunting might be a no go if this passes
Market demand. Less interest in a product the price should LOWER! The
more demand the price goes up. Unless it is about the Govamint demanding more Revenue from we sheeple, the Govamints slave lanor.
Annual inflation change my shiny hinny.
No more hunting and fishing for me. Too expensive as it is.
What does DNR do with the money from clear cutting our state land and from selling or state land
I do t think there are fewer hunters and fishermen, I think more people are just not purchasing licenses to do so. They are shooting themselves in the foot. The baiting ban plays a huge role in that, in my opinion.
No money made for Sticker on Kayaks, as personal Kayaks don’t require them
It's too expensive as it is, this is crazy talk. You will see a dramatic decrease in license purchase if this goes in to effect.
Is senior licenses go to be included in this price hike? If so I will not be hunting.
I think maybe I'll move back to Idaho,, where I can still afford to Hunt and Fish
I’ve got a great idea. Let’s not worry about milking the sportsmen dry. I’m tired of more money being the answer.
When we have a anti-hunter appointed by Whitmer as director of our DNR - don't expect anything good to happen. FGW FJB FBO FKH
very smart they say less hunters, but lets raise the prices, for what to get even less hunters and fishing. what a F*ing joke.
I'm retired and they just pushed me out of hunting and fishing for good if this passes.. everything keeps going up so I'm done !
They will take our money and allow input from organizations outside of the hunting and fishing community. For a price of course.
The lottery system sucks.
Outer staters pay $190 combo and $50 to$151 for a base depending on how many days hunt .or $266 hunt fish combo yearly figure that out ..
Cost analysis
$10 small game tag (forced to purchase by dnr.... who knows why)
$20 deer license
$7 gas (assuming you live about 25 miles away and are successful first hunt)
$10 Amunition (assuming you shoot 2 times but had to buy the full box of 5 shotgun shells)(other options might be cheaper or more expensive)
$100 processing (can be done yourself if you have the knowledge, equipment and time (time has value to)
$147 total (and this is a very skimpy list.
So you're meat at the moment is worth $2.53/lb with optional circumstances (some will be cheaper if you process some will cost way more if your not successful)
My point is this isn't about a sport (nothing against big buck hunters paying expensive leases so nobody hunts the 100 acres just to see how big bucks get and spend thousands) it's about a natural God given resource (and yes we need to be good stewards) when the cost reaches the same as store bought meat or meat you raise there's no point in hunting if your doing it to save money and provide food.
I still haven’t received my federal duck stamp I’m kinda pissed bought in Oct
Stamp wont get mailed till mid march 2025, i was wondering the ssme
Seems like the state should find a way to have fee for those who enjoy the public hunting and fishing lands access but don't hunt and fish but have free access to those lands. Why should the hunting and fishing people have to pay for every one elses access.
Ha weren't they just trying to do cheaper doe tags to encourage more hunters... 🤔
Makes more sense
Do you have any information on the proposed out of state costs? 50% increase for an out of state license and tag will make my decision a little tougher.
I wonder what Non resident licenses jump too. I don't have a problem supporting Michigan .
Wrong time to increase fees.
So why not screw with youth weekend too?!?😡
when I first bought a non resident bow hunting license it was 20 dollars add to that cabin rental groceries for four men and fuel
they have made it to expensive for blue collar workers to afford. so the state is loosing that money because we quit going then fishing license became too expensive for non residents so no more fishing trips. then I caught a break and moved to Michigan. however then they raised fees on everything and they lost more money because I knew several men that became. poachers saying it was cheaper to pay a fine . my advice is to elect more liberal politicians, things will be better
Omg that is alot 😳 not good 😐
They are going to lose money...everyone is struggling to live as it is.
We can't afford you in state Government any longer
I sware the common sense of man / DNR is gone in most cases.
wave goodbye to my hunt fish combo. I will just fish for free on Father's day weekend.
I’m so sick of this state
The increases should be the same for non residents also..
