after listening to the shiftgear podcast, i’ve won 5 regionals, won 27 league cups, won 58 league challenges, dropped my cholesterol drastically, lowered my resting heart rate, and i am now at a whopping 4% body fat. Shoutout whopper wednesday🍔
Whoppers have reduced my body fat greatly. Upon contacting the King of Burgers my life has changed drastically. The Shift Gear podcast is kinda trash, but Whopper Wednesday makes life worth it, shoutout BK. Thanks for bein here chief. - Aneil
After listening to the Shift Gear Podcast, I’ve won the lottery, my credit score is at 900, I got married and had two children, both are now self made billionaires. I won the Nobel peace Prize, have a song at number one on the charts and I got a six pack from only eating pancakes this whole year. I am now also Immortal. Thank you shift Gear podcast, you changed my life
Big fan of the new segment, thankfully I don’t have any stories to share because the Pokémon players I’ve run into have been chill. If it were me, if we made a gentleman’s agreement to decide a winner and it ended in this 50/50 where they refused to scoop, I think I just do the same as the writer and scoop myself here and be done with it. I’ll be tilted about it later but that’s fine. Shout out to the Shift Gear Podcast, every week I tune in and hear Aneil hype up a deck and then I immediately sleeve up that deck and throw at locals because I don’t play the same decks enough. Thanks for all the work you guys put into this!
I'm glad you have no stories ;) Sorry about the deck thing, I like to play the same decks into the ground until I really get it, but a lot of them can be relatively unforgiving at first. Sometimes you just gotta get battered at locals to become a wizard! - Aneil
This is me right now saying that Ive been listening to shift gear for 5 months now and Im going to a league cup on Saturday will report back with how the shift gear podcast changed my life if I win.
@@ShiftGearPodcast The shift gear podcast has changed my life. After listening I just won my first league cup. It was an amazing day as I won the cup and then got the terapagos illustration rare from the prizing. (I better make it into the podcast)
Okay my story is in the time line as the first story of "What should I have done" So I was at a cup about a month ago now. 5 rounds, I believe 3 wins makes top 8 and me and my opponent were both 2-2. He sits down, offers me a coin flip instead of a die roll. I said I'd rather not and i offered one of my Pikachu heads or tails dice to roll instead (seemed like a good solution as it was straight from TPCI). He declines and says he'd rather roll his dice. Now I'm sketched out at this point so i made a mental note to just watch everything he is doing while still trying to be "cordial". He won the die roll. We get into the match, and on my turns he is fidgeting with the coin he offered to flip at the start, flipping the coin up in the air and it landing on the table over and over. He then says "Man, I'm so good at manipulating this coin now". I'm just shocked... I thought about calling a judge, but I didn't know what to say that he might be cheating so i kept on playing. Later on, on two different turns, he draws and extra card off Radiant Greninja. I tell him both times something like "it's fine, seemed like an honest mistake, sleeves can stick sometimes, ill put the extra card back in your deck" trying not to make drama as this is a event in my local area. On my last turn of the game i had searched my deck, done two shuffles and said "i think ill go back in, one sec" I looked at my hand swapped the active, attached an energy, and then forgot to offer a cut before I drew off Bibarel. I drew 2/4 cards and he screams "WAIT, JUDGE". Judge comes over and he is like "My opponent refused to let me cut his deck before he drew after his search and he didn't shuffle" so i had to explain how I thought i was going to go in but i decided not to, and yeah i probably didn't sufficiently randomize the about 20 cards left in deck but i gave it a few shuffles." Judge said "Okay what I'm willing to do is we show the drawn cards, put them back in. I will shuffle the deck, there will be a loss of the bib draw and we move on." I was okay with it but my Opponent was not. He did this weird Karen move where he asked the judge's name, how long he had been a judge, a bunch of weird questions that were basically trying to intimidate him like "I know who you are and I could report you" vibe. Eventually, he was like "I'm not okay with this ruling and I would like a fair ruling." Which baffled me after I let him slide with drawing AN EXTRA CARD TWO DIFFERENT TIMES. So the judge gave in, gave me a two prize penalty and that won him the match. So, long story short, should I be more aggressive with judge calls at cups and challenges? Could I have done anything during the coin thing? What should I have done?
Jesus, you should have called the judge to roll the die in the beginning. That was just weird of the opp. You should have called the judge for each extra card drawn. That would have been 4 card prize penalties. You should have told the judge of his weird behaviour. Also when he said he can manipulate the coin, call the judge. When he fidgeted around, Def call the judge that's just unnecessary and rude. There's no drama, the opp was creating drama nonstop.
LMFAO I'm so sorry. Part of my brand is to butcher these things but man this week was one of the worst. Entertainment value comes at a cost I suppose 🤫
Before listening to the shift gear pod, I lost to Aneil at a regional. After listening to the pod, I beat Aneil at Baltimore with a sick bucket hat on. Couldn’t have done it without y’all (Been a listener since day 1, and only beat Aneil because my deck was super cheese, but that doesn’t matter, right?)
Before shift gear I was a bum, that always came last a locals, never pulled anything greater than a holo and no rizz, after just listening to one episode, I now have a girlfriend, won worlds 5 times, win every regional and ic I show up to and even qualified for worlds without showing up to a single event once
