Ha, nice trick question there at 6:49. You CAN summon Firewall by activating Vernusylph of the Misting Seedling’s effect to discard himself, search a monster, then summon himself from GY, 2 + 1 + 1 = 4.

Technically ritual summoning is also combining monsters, you're just ritualistically sacrificing them and throwing their corpses into a blender to combine them.
I recently discovered your channel through your last two videos; even though I'm more of a MD player than DL, I can still appreciate the humor and explanations, good stuff 👍

Don't be ridiculous... that combination would just be bean soldier (dragon + plant = black dragon jungle king, then bean soldier would just replace it since there's no fusion equivalent). You're thinking of bean soldier + zombie + dragon + gaia the fierce knight = gaia the dragon champion (1000 atk or higher plant + zombie = pumpking, king of ghosts + dragon = curse of dragon + gaia = gaia the dragon champion).
9:40 Bruh I hate DL, I was so confused why you couldn't summon Darkfluid since pentestag was there. I even checked the requirments for Darkfluid to make sure I wasn't stupid. Until I realised that that's the gy, not the field.
10:47~10:54 Use both Link 2s as Link 2 monsters and the Link 3 as a Link 1 monster. That's three monsters with a total Link rating of 5, leaving the non-Link monster on the field and freeing up the EMZ for Darkfluid.
The quiz especially fun and helpful, but sadly on the duel link footage I can't see the Link numbers of the card so I can't answer the question. Still this is a nice video. I actually get into the MD recently (my first intro to yugioh tcg) and I think this video should be in the tutorial.

I remember I was at one of the first tournaments with Link Monsters in the TCG. It wasn't an official tournament or anything but well let's just say I was surprised when I saw one of the judges put the field centers on the table. A good amount of people had the links from the first structure deck so Link Spider, HoneyBOT, and Decode Talker and just threw them in their deck, mostly Decode Talker. Anyways I was playing my Dark Magician deck because I was in middle school or my first year of highschool and didn't know anything about Meta. Plus I didn't have any Link Monsters. I did have a basic understanding of them tho. So my opponent one round had Decode Talker out in his EMZ and I had Ebon Illusion Magician in mine. I then looked at the field and thought of something. So I used Dark Magician with the Eye of Timaeus to summon Amulet Dragon (I don't think I had Dark Magician the Dragon Knight yet.) to the zone that Decode Talker pointed to on my field. My opponent then said I couldn't do that and I said I could do we called the judge over. I find it funny that the guy that owned the card didn't know something about his own card.
When I first started MD, I just used a couple of Link monsters to supplement the deck. It wasn't until I played Dragon Link that I had to fully learn the intricacies of the mechanic.

As like the only person I know that likes Pendulum summoning, I learnt all I know about them by playing Metalfoes. You need to build up GY resources to use your effects, so you end up learning when exactly is your monster going into the extra deck and when is it going to the graveyard. If they get sent to the GY from the hand or deck, they go there like normal. I they get sent to the GY/destroyed from the field, they go to the extra deck. If they're xyz material, they go to the graveyard. And I think that's it? the hard part is remembering all that.
I needed this tutorial during the KCcup a few weeks ago for specifically Darkfluid. I kept thinking I kept thinking i could summon it off Firewall. I didn't have enough to read because the timer in Duel Links is scuffed
I was playing Sunavalon and something that I was caught off guard by was link monsters summoned from the extra deck but not necessarily link summoned still needs to be linked to another monster. Its obvious if you think about it but it made figuring out the deck longer than it should.
Love how the Link rating seems to always be the same as the number of arrows. Just like how an xyz's rank is its (base) material's level. Because THIS is where the design team has to draw a line.
1:57 @.im still baffled by the stupid decision of making a goddamn Honeybot which arrows won't help Flier, and you have to do the cursed move of normal summon it... Is like they don't want you to fully understand their game Excellent guide, failed at Beaver warrior cause forgot Fluid asks for effect monsters, so as the @.i fan @.i am must cleanse my soul from that sin
Link summoning is pretty hard to explain because with the rest of the summoning methods there's a catalyst that causes the summonm. For ritual and fusion thats the spell card and its pretty easy to understand sacrficing/merging the material through the catalyst that is the spell card. With synchro summoning the catalyst is the tuner and its pretty easy to imagine the tuner adding its levels to the material to make the summon. Xyz is a little less clear but the anime did a really good job of showing that when you stack two monstera you can invoke the boss monsters through the overlay network even getting the signature explosion from the black hole to show it. Pendulum summoning itself is pretty easy to understand imo since its more of a series of special summons from the hand than the extra deck. It's pendulum cards themeselves that are harder to understand imo, the fact that when you scale them they act as spells not monsters except in some cases like when you destroy them, and then the fact that when they're popped they go to extra deck but not when tributed. Its kind of a mess. Link summoning really has no restrictions other than the conditions so any time you can achieve them you kinda just throw the materials in grave then summon them. I like link climbing as a concept but imo they would have been better off without the arrows and maybe a harder restriction like unless you already have a link monster you need to use your normal summon to link which would make it much harder for other archetypes to abuse link summoning and get that feeling of using a catalyst to get the ball rolling. That's just me spitballing though
4:01 yes 4:21 no bc u have a monster already in the ED zone & the arrow doesnt point to a free MD zone of urs 4:50 yes & u can place him where the arrows point to 6:28 no bc the link ratings are above 4 (2 + 3 = 5) = fxck got that wrong 😂 6:50 no bc of the L5 Monster 7:14 yes, with those 2 L2 Monster & u can place him either in the ED zone or next to Firewall Dragon 9:32 no bc of the L4 while Darkfluid needs 3 effekt monster. If the L4 was a L3, u could 9:55 no bc Beaver Warrior is a normal monster 10:20 yes bc u can treat 1 of those L2 monster as 1 material, so 3 + 1 + 1 is 5 (lesson learned haha) So, just 1 wrong answer. I think Link Summon itself isnt that hard, but Link Climbing can be confusing
firewall dragon needs 2 or more monsters as material, right? so how can you use only firewall dragon as material for firewall dragon? was that a mistake or am I missing something?
Maybe I'm weird but I've never found a single new summon type difficult to grasp. I struggle to work out why people struggle with these concepts. Ritual: Sacrifice monster for bigger monster Fusion: Combine monsters for bigger monster Synchro: Ritual but on the field Xyz: Solitaire Pendulum: Some monsters are also spells, and you can mass summon between their special numbers. Link: Arrows go pointy point
Yeah, Links can be a little counterintuitive, i tried Beetrooper on MD because they are a robotic insect army, how could i not, and i got insect-locked all the time, so add the frustration of learning Links with Xenolocks, i was wracking my brain trying to figure what i linked wrong when in the end there is little line of text on Armor Horn and Invincible Atlas that say that they don't like them non-bugs 'round here.
Ive been playing yugioh master duel for a couple months now and I never knew that link monster pointed to certain zones.I thought it was just an interesting design choice. Why did konami not inform me of this I've always wondered why I couldn't draw a card using knightmare phoenixs effect. now I know.
4:10 I want you to know that as soon as you said "when can I summon linkuriboh" my opponent in master duel summoned him. I don't know what to make of this.
Well XYZs do have 1 or 2 interesting quirks that can trip people up The inability to use tokens when every other ED summoning mechanic can And effects involving being removed from the field Seems a little arbitrary at times
I remember when Vrains world launched in DL and I tried to summon Borreload with a L3 + another monster and I was so confused lmao Edit: I'm later into the video and you caught me
One thing I’ll never understand is being able to summon something like appaloosa and then I get one token and I can’t anymore. I have the same cards on board as before plus one token! Does anyone know why this works like this? Also the card that summoned the token didn’t have any restrictions on summoning afterwards.
@@Noel-ch6lw what were the monsters available? Where there any monsters with different names on the field? Because the bare minimum for apollousa is 4 monsters with different names that are not tokens.

At 9:29, it is possible to summon Darkfluid - treating Pentestag as Link 2 and the other 3 monsters as Link 1 (3+ effect monsters is the requirement, not 3 effect monsters)
Didn't knew about the "exactly X" and "Link 3 OR 1, but not 2", partially because I kinda never went farther than a link 3. The zone thing I did knew about, and so about the requiriments. I only kinda failed at 1 because I assumed beaver warrior was an effect monster, but let's be honest, WHY WOULD YOU EVER PLAY BEAVER WARRIOR?! At least put a Shine ball or World Chalice to make a believable scenario. In general I feel I'm a quick learner. Understood synchos immediately, luckily remembered a video of how proper summon works to not make dumb mistakes, only had to ask once about how detaching didn't count as sending from field to grave (An errata because of Sangan btw... then he got banned 1 turn later), fusion and Ritual is easy to get if you're using a fusion spell, and I got Links right outside the "exactly X" and "as Y or 1, but not in between". PS: 2 Notes. 1°: Is not that Konami makes the best monster generic, is that being generic is a big reason why they're the most played synchros. Like, imagine if Crimson Dragon said "1 dragon synchro" instead of just non-tuner; I'm sure the card would not see play considering the decks who play it don't even want to have the crimson dragon spells, only to synchro summon stuff like Blazar dragon. 2°: I LOVED the Monster hunter meat roasting gif. 3°: Indeed, I don't think I'll ever bother with pendulum summoning. I'm not a fan of combo decks and the mechanic became even more complicated with MR4.
The most common line for Sunavalon in duel links atm is to leave the Dryas in the EMZ for as long as possible. (Aka sewing to get out Twin, revive seed, summon healer from the burn. Link those 3 into Melias which revives Seed. (Ideally summon a Shadow to link with dryas for dryades, then shadow effect for a second dryades)

Ngl, I was not aware that you can only link summon a monster to a zone another link monster points to 🤦🏻♂️ that explains a lot
1:57 @.im still baffled by the stupid decision of making a goddamn Honeybot which arrows won't help Flier, and you have to do the cursed move of normal summon it... Is like they don't want you to fully understand their game
Excellent guide, failed at Beaver warrior cause forgot Fluid asks for effect monsters, so as the @.i fan @.i am must cleanse my soul from that sin
Using the effect of Infra Flier would also explain link arrows since only 1 or 2 zones would be availible to summon Infra Flier.
Links overall need to be less generic. It's not because Links don't have intrinsic restrictions that they can't have specific requirements.
When you switched to duel links you cant see link ratings so it makes it hard to tell
Having trouble understanding using link monsters as tribute for other link monsters. Is it going by the triangles or links number at bottom?
4:01 yes
4:21 no bc u have a monster already in the ED zone & the arrow doesnt point to a free MD zone of urs
4:50 yes & u can place him where the arrows point to
6:28 no bc the link ratings are above 4 (2 + 3 = 5) = fxck got that wrong 😂
6:50 no bc of the L5 Monster
7:14 yes, with those 2 L2 Monster & u can place him either in the ED zone or next to Firewall Dragon
9:32 no bc of the L4 while Darkfluid needs 3 effekt monster. If the L4 was a L3, u could
9:55 no bc Beaver Warrior is a normal monster
10:20 yes bc u can treat 1 of those L2 monster as 1 material, so 3 + 1 + 1 is 5 (lesson learned haha)
So, just 1 wrong answer. I think Link Summon itself isnt that hard, but Link Climbing can be confusing
When did duel links get link fusion and why? They barely have card space for syncro
Omg because I forgot agave dragon's link rating that was conveniently not visible
I’ve been playing Yu Gi oh for about 2 months now, I understand Link and Pendulum more than I understand Xyz and Synchro
Link Summoning is great. Gave life to old decks, even.
It took me almost a year of playing Duel Links to understand Link Summons. Only reason I got it was to play Trickstars😭
firewall dragon needs 2 or more monsters as material, right? so how can you use only firewall dragon as material for firewall dragon? was that a mistake or am I missing something?
I know how to link summon it's just that whenever I summon dharc the Dark Charmer, gloomy I cannot activate her effect for se reason
Wish this was out when i was learning
Maybe I'm weird but I've never found a single new summon type difficult to grasp. I struggle to work out why people struggle with these concepts.
Ritual: Sacrifice monster for bigger monster
Fusion: Combine monsters for bigger monster
Synchro: Ritual but on the field
Xyz: Solitaire
Pendulum: Some monsters are also spells, and you can mass summon between their special numbers.
Link: Arrows go pointy point
Considering your description of the first three would only confuse a new player, you've already shown that you're talking nonsense.
Im tcgplayer and never knew about exact ljnk rating 😭
6:35 devious bait question. Clever
Instructions unclear, performed clear-mind Limit Over Accel Synchro
Ive been playing yugioh master duel for a couple months now and I never knew that link monster pointed to certain zones.I thought it was just an interesting design choice. Why did konami not inform me of this I've always wondered why I couldn't draw a card using knightmare phoenixs effect. now I know.
4:10 I want you to know that as soon as you said "when can I summon linkuriboh" my opponent in master duel summoned him. I don't know what to make of this.
Snake-eye?
it means your opponent watched this video
So why doesn’t 2 plus 3 equal 4?
Well XYZs do have 1 or 2 interesting quirks that can trip people up
The inability to use tokens when every other ED summoning mechanic can
And effects involving being removed from the field
Seems a little arbitrary at times
Wait how do you extra link with only dryas
I remember when Vrains world launched in DL and I tried to summon Borreload with a L3 + another monster and I was so confused lmao
Edit: I'm later into the video and you caught me
Tbf to the Synchro Herald monster, it's meant to be support for Ritual monsters, but it's been abused.
What in the world I didn't know the arrows on links can be summoned where it points 😂
One thing I’ll never understand is being able to summon something like appaloosa and then I get one token and I can’t anymore. I have the same cards on board as before plus one token! Does anyone know why this works like this? Also the card that summoned the token didn’t have any restrictions on summoning afterwards.
Apollousa does not take tokens if you read her card text. She speficically states 2+ monsters with different names except tokens.
@@patricktan4096 but shouldn’t I be able to summon using the monsters on board that are not the token?
@@Noel-ch6lw what were the monsters available? Where there any monsters with different names on the field? Because the bare minimum for apollousa is 4 monsters with different names that are not tokens.
@@patricktan4096 I believe the the monsters I tried to use once were red eyes darkness metal dragon, red stone of legend, metal fiend token, gukan suship Shari, and dark magician. (Me and my friend did a challenge were we picked random cards to make a deck out of)
U-Link? Wasn't that called Extra Link long ago?
I got multiple of these wrong because I forgot duel link has 3mmzs and not 4 lol
my favorite youtuber
lol thanks mario, sorry i havent made a short in so long
I thought the pne at 730 was no because firewall is limited to 1
Link summoning is just a floating tribute summon. Think about it like you always have a monster you can tribute summon once you get the materials.
But why could he summon firewall dragon with 2 non effect link monster?
Because regular firewall dragon says it needs just any 2+ monsters. It doesnt need effect monsters.
Yeah I passed all of the tests.
Playing Dragon Link in Master Duel until Wyverburster was found dead in Miami carved me into the freak I am today
At 9:29, it is possible to summon Darkfluid - treating Pentestag as Link 2 and the other 3 monsters as Link 1 (3+ effect monsters is the requirement, not 3 effect monsters)
I might be wrong, but I think that Pentestag is in the graveyard.
You are correct, the pentestag is in the GY. That’s the GY spot in duel links
sorry i fucked up, I forgot that the gy in DL looks like a rightmost zone
We got to the point where we actually need a duel academia
Ima be real, pendulums was what i learned 1st and have loved them since, dont know why my brain couldn't comprehend the others but-
10:33 this was a big problem to me months ago, now im a link summon cyberse pro and ik how to co link
Beaver Warrior fucking me over for the millionth time
9:40 I can't even see the link rating of that one monster
I still don’t get how i can’t summon sunavalon dryas with genius loci after it is summoned back by sunavalon melias -_-
If you put Melias in the EMZ, then you wouldn't have any zones to summon Dryas to. (unless a Link monster is pointing to one of your other zones).
What Zone’s are free? Coz if Melias is in the EMZ, it doesn’t have any zones a link monster can be summoned to.
What about extra link ?
What about linked and co linked?
