Shuttle Tatting Tips: How To Make A Folded Join

Here are two ways to avoid a twisted picot when joining shuttle tatting in the round!

I'm mostly self-taught in tatting, & I naturally do something quite similar to your wrap-around. I fold the motif around itself such that I'm joining correctly. It does take a little finagling and mental geometry to make sure I'm ending up the right way 'round, but I soooo don't like that twisted join.

I learned the folded join , the twisting of the picot method you , from Mary Konior's "Tatting in Lace", page 29. BUT I will definitely give wrapping it around my finger the next time I need it... Thank you for sharing...
