Spicy extreme take: Doomfist's skin should've been the mythic. It got voice line changes for Rocket Punch for the arcade, new voice lines, a really great looking skin, and Mercy... doesn't even change her ultimate. "Heroes never die!" you lot aren't heroes lol. Even Doomfist doesn't stare he's a hero, ever, he just says he's evolving humanity. "Meteor Strike!" still makes perfect sense because that's just the move he does. Mythic Mercy was definitely only "mythic" because money.

I remember being a support main back when tank was over tuned in early OW2, where everyone was saying that supports were playing Dead By Daylight. It sucked, but we got a relatively quick rebalance to make it feel better. Tanks have had to put up with their role feeling bad for way longer, it's a shame.

I have a friend who’s a diamond tank who’s been teaching me to play a bit he taught me how to use Lucio and even as a silver player I can see the usefulness of Lucio and love playing him and illari when I’m on support
My friend is also teaching me how to play! I’m silver dps and he is a previous top 500, current master tank player that knows how to play every character since he coached a lot of people. I’m learning flex dps right now and junk is my most played but pharah and reaper are also very fun for me
Most tank and support players understand Lucio's value. Im pretty sure only dps don't think Lucio is that good.

i was fine with the grav, dragon, dmg boost beating out tranq, since thats 2 ults and another character to beat 1 ult. conversely tranq beating the 2 ults at base was more than fair
yeah that was fine, also i'm pretty sure ow1 was even worse, if there was a "sleep -> boosted storm arrows" combo, since storm used to do more dmg, and tanks had less hp

Yeah I had a pretty good time in Season five. Prop hunt was a fun game mode as well as Winston volleyball. Kinda sucks that it was after the PvE news…
LMAO the DVa making Widow swap. I sat down to play some Widow in QP the other day, no glasses, no game sound (Spotify jammin') I got spawn camped by Moneky & Sombra 11 times before I swapped. First game of the day, real fun stuff.

As a Doom main, my condolences. For a counterargument though, our characters can singlehandedly carry the game in a way that no other characters can, so it makes sense for them to counter us.
oh yes i full in agree, that the character has the ability to carry a game is part of the appeal. Was more stating something that surprised me, less of a complaint.
It's not just filler. It's the filler after the main plot has already ended... I know there are players and streamers who still have a good time with the game but we have to be real about how the rest of the community is feeling. Hard to stick with the game. A new philosophy for the game is needed...

Hot take: The only reason many 6v6'ers sound like a cult, is because the entire topic has been religiously ignored by the devs for 2 fucking years while 5v5'ers have done nothing but throw rose tinted shade on them. Anyone would go mad from that, and when half the playerbase is collectively going insane, well, that's how cults tend to form. A cult is the only way to stay sane in an insane world.
I think it's also lots of kids latching on to 6v6 as an identity of sorts, where people who just have an opinion of the opposite must therefore be bad people. Meanwhile the adults just wanna discuss it for what it is; a video game.
@@Korvmannen Honestly I don't see that. I mean sure there are bad faith actors, but that is hardly exclusive to any side. I think a lot of the people who latch onto 6v6 without having much argument themselves, are simply people who are fed up with the current state of the game, and at the very least 6v6 represents the idea that things 'could' be different, and anything that is different is at least a step away from the current state of dissatisfaction with how things are run now. Also people in favor of 6v6 tend to have much more qualitative arguments for why a revert to the former format would be viable, while people who advocate for staying on 5v5 almost never have any tangible arguments besides "queue times" and never actually make deep thought points on how to fix the game in 5v5 (cus they can't. 2 years has been spent to no avail and they know its not a task they know how to solve, so they just try to gaslight the opposing viewpoint holders into thinking the past was worse than they remember, that its rose tinted nostalgia, that 6v6 is worse and that double shield would return etc etc).
But in all the posts I see on the OW forum and reddit and twitter, by far the most hostility comes from people who jump onto 6v6 discussions to derail them, rather than the other way around. And so many people in advocacy of 5v5 personally attack, insult, belittle, and attempt to ridicule anyone who advocates for 6v6 for any reason, regardless of arguments or discourse attempt.
I really don't see the "6v6 is a cult" thing, even though I meme a bit about it myself. I just see it as people who keep bringing it up, because the people in charge never address it, so it never gets any resolution nor rest. What more can one do, but keep fighting till its either addressed or directly shut down by the devs? And then everyone who isn't strictly pro 6v6 will get bored by 6v6 being brought up all the time, but that's just because their own views are not the ones being neglected. People who are 5v5 or people who are neutral on the matter, they don't have a horse in this. Their pov is not left unaddressed for years. They're not being ignored. They're not being openly attacked any time they open their mouth about what they want to see in the game. But as soon as 6v6 is mentioned as a solution to an issue, it just gets bodied and called a cultist movement. Some bad actors do make it 10x worse than it should be, on the 6v6 side too, but I mean at this point apparently it's become illegal to mention 6v6 and the moment something is made illegal as a topic of discourse, that absolutely will further radicalize people and turn regular forum goers into cultists cus they're literally being forced into taking extreme measures just to feel like they actually have any space to speak.
I know this is going way beyond what your comment digged at, I'm mostly writing this for future reference to have some context for others who may read it later and not see the whole picture as clearly as it could be seen.

A cult is the only way to make a insane world even more insane. Dude devs just dont change the entire game out of nowhere. Unlike you the balancing team sat down and considered everything and not just useless confirmation bias to make 6v6 look good. I never played OW1, but the way people who want 6v6 back are arguing, tells me that they cant seriously know how to balance this either. 6v6 advocates avoid talking about the cons of it, while the only ones who really think about pro and contra, usually take a much more neutral standpoint.
As someone who isnt biased in this matter, 6v6 might split the pain between 2 tanks, but balancing would still be a major issue.

Second Comment: I loved 5v5 when OW2 released and I thought it was better for the game because it was faster paced and they succeeded in giving each player more agency like they planned. However, now that we've had time to consume the game and all it's changes I think 6v6 is the superior format. I have to say the synergy you felt in the tank role in OW1 was beyond anything I've experienced on any role in OW2. Tank in 5v5 is nowhere near as fun as it was in 6v6. It feels like anytime we try and have a discussion about 5v5 vs. 6v6 the competent and articulate 6v6'ers get drowned out by the hyper-aggressive 6v6'ers so nobody takes them seriously and when a 5v5'er is asked to give supporting arguments on 5v5 they are drowned out by the 5v5'ers who say "it's not possible to go back to 6v6" or "it's just better idk what to tell you". Personally I want 6v6 to return but overall I just want to have fun with the game again. Unfortunately I have yet to hear a serious well thought out discussion on why 5v5 is healthier for the game. There are a lot of 5v5 streamers who push their narrative without giving a solid reason for why 5v5 has to be the games format going forward. They just keep spouting the same drivel and their followers repeat it without question. I don't want to play a game where every patch fails to address common issues. I am getting sick of people saying 5v5 is the way forward but the game is getting worse and worse because it is ultimately being balanced around the 5v5 philosophy and none of the solutions are working. The game has had the most power creep in Overwatch history and it still isn't in a balanced state; and it is always centered around the tank...
5v5 in theory solved most of the issues in ow1, mainly shooting shields/defensive abilities. The supports were also massively overwhelmed trying to keep 11 shifting bodies in their mind on top of the color kaleidoscope that ow1 was. The maps were also a little small to support 12 people. 5v5, in theory, would take pressure off supports and give it to the tanks while keeping the dps in roughly the same place.
The problem was that too many defensive abilities were removed, so tanks blew up. Then they gave the tanks defensive abilities back and people realized that the tank couldnt be both the frontline and peel, so they ignored the tanks and went for the supports/dps. To combat this, they increased the support healing and dmg so they didn't need peeling. But then dps couldn't kill anything, so they buffed dps dmg so they could do something, which put us back to square 1 with tanks exploding. So then, not wanting to nerf everyone, they buffed all the hp pools and gave the dps passive so dps cold still do stuff, but tanks wouldn't explode. Now, tanks don't have the defensive abilities, they still cant frontline and peel at the same time, and they cant unalive anyone without the dps passive; dps is extremely polarized because breakpoints were shifted massively on some characters while remaining relatively the same on others and the dps passive is better on some characters over others; Supports are in the same position because dmg and healing actually haven't changed. The damage that tore a 1000hp ball or ulting Winston to shreds still exists, but now Sigma has 650hp, and the healing that countered it only works if tanks or certain dps are doing the damage.
I believe that 5v5 had potential, but they botched it time and time again that it's too late now. They would have to go back to the start of ow2 and redo balance from there for any hope of 5v5 feeling good. That said, them going back to ow2 beginnings is more likely than 6v6 at this point.

so about the lucio question, I love playing with a lucio... in the right comp. What I hate about lucio is when a lucio one trick insta locks him when the entire team is playing poke with a mercy. the speed boost is being wasted and the healing makes such a difference when I have to spend a good chunk of the fight tucked away trying to get healed
For most ranks, that doesn't really matter. Sure, if you're in top500, my condolences, but if your mid plat, it doesn't really matter. Focus on what you can do and let them do their own thing. Who knows, maybe they'll surprise you with brilliant plays that only a poke comp can take advantage of.

I remember that Winton clip when it originally came out. Ppl were flaming the tank player for "not noticing the sonic arrow".
It's like bro; he's literally being double pocketed vs a sleep dart and 1 damage boosted player and dies in less than 10 seconds.
It's kinda nuts that healing was indirectly nerfed (DPS passive was very much needed) but overall damage output wasn't even touched.
Im pretty sure their reasoning was that "nerfs make people feel bad," so they decided to buff everyone to the moon first. The hp buff was supposed to indirectly nerf healing and damage, but it only really nerfed some characters.
I feel that pain whenever picking widow. One of my only times as dps one night and it looks like I would have a widow duel on the canals map. I won the first peak off and after they said they would challenge me and a said "good", they swap to sombra and hard focus me while I refuse to switch. Best thing is that I think we won that game
The only reason I know about Mercy’s VA being different is cuz I met the current VA years ago at an AnimeNYC convention, she said the early versions of the beta apparently had a different VA

How to fix Rein: Take away his hammer and give him a flamethrower that does DOT so the player can get hit markers and dopamine while holding up his shield
How to fix Zarya: Buff her health, balance out her dmg ramping, make her bubbles give a movement/atk speed, give her assists and saves and assists, saves + assist notifications = dopamine
How to fix Mauga: Give him a passive that collects "Soul Fragments" when he shoots people and his e now absorbs those fragments to instantly grant overhealth, reduce his spread, give him a windup when he shoots (starts slow then slowly gets faster and faster)
How to fix Overwatch: Call it Paladins 2
I really like the idea of going back to 6v6 and maybe even make the tank role two separate roles, if you had a main tank and an off tank role I think that would be a lot easier to balance but you'd be losing the flexibility of being able to pick some of the heroes together which I don't know how the community would feel about.
If you wanted to be even more drastic about it, you could split up the support role as well.
Que times would become a little bit more of an issue, but if it fixes the game and people like it then maybe that would not become as much of a problem.
Any thoughts on these ideas would be appreciated and it'd be cool if Flats reads this.
3:35 it’s because they finally went after the fundamental issue with the character. Why did sig, bap, and brig never truly fall? It’s because they never addressed the core issues of the character. Rail was always the issue and it finally got changed. I hope this continues with future patches.

As a person who joined overwatch in season 6 and got 1,5k+ hours in it already, i still find the game fun
I play Lucio in unranked and lower ranks than Diamond (cuz I’m still trying to learn him and learn how to not take damage) and
Literally every single DPS player complains about me when we lose a game. Despite them having more deaths than me and me having the same damage as them and of course more healing than them.
Work on yourself. Don’t blame others.
i am plat so yes i do hate lucio for the different reasons, I hate lucio due to him 80% of the time being a smurf, and when he is one, you just will not hit him, and even if you will, he will live 99% of the time untill its not a one shot
Im below diamond (plat) and I hate lucio but not bc of the stats. Don't get me wrong, its frustrating when we have a lucio that's getting no value when we could benefit more from another hero, but thats normal. I dislike Lucio bc when he's on the enemy team, he targets my widow-main ass xDD.

Typically, filler exists just to have something to do while waiting for the real thing, but what are we waiting for? Season 10 had a new character and it felt like filler, Season 9 had all the new changes, cool. But many seasons before that have felt like filler (even season 6, which was supposed to be the "heavy content" type of season. What is the light at the end of the tunnel for OW players? PVE is dead, game balance is stagnant, game modes are lackluster. Do we really need a one week content creator game mode every season to spice things up?
I just wanna offtank, I just feel bad for tanks as a whole, it's sucky to play, it's sucky to be flamed by tanks, it's sucky to flame tanks, it's just a bad cycle. I liked being flamed on offtank, cause at least if I sucked, the "maintank" that was carrying on, could keep the team focused on trying usually, and then you can just either be toxic, or silently work on playing better. Now, it's like, the focus sucks shit, I don't think people are contributing enough value to the social expectations of a role that only has one person per team right now, it's not fair. You cannot lean, you cannot have a bad game and just shadow the tank that's doing better, you cannot carry your fellow tank that's making bad mistakes, you are just stuck, in that little echo chamber of suck. (switched to fulltime dps once ow2 became a thing and realized i couldn't please most lobbies unless i just rolled enemy team with zarya, and tha'ts just bunk.)
My opinion on Lucio as a lower ranked player is hes great! If you are good at him. If my lucio aint getting kills or helping people out of spawn or speeding the team out of spawn I'm going to hate you. Floorcios oh my god. People who don't know how to play him should not play him. Lucio is great, only if the person playing him is good with him, and that is not seen often in lower ranks where the lucios are actually good, so in my opinion thats when he gets shit talked. And especially if they pick Lucio after we already had a Mercy, Zen, Brig. I'm gonna be pissed off.
tbh if tanks got ult charge for getting healed the game might do better, tanks are usually cc type characters, but only during their ults, weaken the tanks ults and regive them the speed to ult charge back, possibly a overhealth change so supports could heal their team past 100%, not themselves, health and healing buff to only tanks(aka supports heal their tank faster so they arent stuck waiting, talking to the tank for 5 minutes), this would make supports able to peek more to do damage, tanks to rage less, and make the supports work together to keep the squad alive instead of "oops a support died, everyone fall back," the tank, "alright, if i dont push in everyone here dies" the squad"why did you push then". also, damage increase to go with the overhealth buff for the snipers, but maybe one tap + headshot would work on the real squishys if fully overhealed. lastly a change to overhealth, if your health would have been depleted but you have overhealth, the life you have is decaying untill you get healed.
As a plat junkrat main, I’m so tired of the stat farming hitscan players flaming me for having 3 less damage than them, I love ow but I’m thinking of quitting bc almost every game will leave me angry, sad, or disappointed even if we win bc of these toxic players

its such an easy fix dude.. blizzard balancing has always been make some class broken then nerf, make a broken counter then nerf, then out of left field nerf the guys who had nothing to do with it. Or they randomly buff the broken class gor some reason. They straight up just dont know how any of their games work. its hilariously frustrating.

Am I crazy for saying that there were more players on Overwatch 1 during the third season before overwatch 2 than this season? Hitting Diamond for T500 tank is crazy
People in diamond and lower ranks do not want lucio and I as the rein main can understand them because when I was playing in those ranks people do not know how to play lucio and are A just healing or B just running solo arround the map and not boosting the team or helping them so they are useless or useless. I n my higher rank I am glad to have lucio because when I have 5-8 junkrat and 7-11 bastion he just enable me and I kill the whole lobby.
tracer also has a bug idk if it affects in an actual match but if u test tracer mythic in the shop and u dont test level 4 armor, u cant see her ult special effects. when i try to test mercy mythic in the shop but not level 4, i couldnt hear her elim voicelines, idk if its just bad luck. is the 5v5/6v6 debate toxic cause i cant really find the drama, is it in twitter and i cant really find it, is there something im missing? its so weird mercy sucks and climbing out of low rank with dmg is HARD but she is perceive as good by low ranks and they act like her heal is op to the point one winston order me to heal him when he go frontline 1v5 and no time for the team to help and say he died cause i didnt heal him

Here's one very blatant one that's fresh in my memory because it happened at the start of the season. Reaper appeared in the patch notes (a character who has been garbage for a *long* time) and flats immediately reacted with "Eugh, what are you doing here."
Along with a bunch of other times he down played Reaper specifically, simply because of his trauma as a tank player. I'm sure he's done the same for Pharah, Junkrat, and Mei in the past as well.
Metal ranks don't like Lucio because he is hard to work with or work around. The Lucio player is generally selfish and or doesn't understand his role. The rest of the team don't know how to gain value from him even if the Lucio by some miracle is working with the team.
The Lucio player is generally as much a part of the problem as the rest of the team.

Omg, this same thing has happened to me so many times.
I play widow in qp just to try practice my aim a bit and wanting to have a chill game just trying to get the occasional headshot, and even though I am complete shit at widow I will almost immediately have people on my ass diving and spawncamping me the whole game. One time I literally had both a tracer and sombra wait in front of our spawn the entire game just to kill me once I walk out, they did nothing else.
Oh I already hate Cass, don't worry. From a get-out-of-jail-free bomb to 275 HP and 50% damage reduction during roll, he's unnaturally tanky for a hitscan that can two-tap you at range.
Reason why lucio is so bad in lower ranks is because people don't know how to play him. Half the time the lucio you have on your team in gold and below only uses heal, doesnt know how to wallride and isnt in voicechat. The other half of the time the lucio will be in the enemy spawn and finish the game with less than 1k heals and 20 deaths.
ppl in low rank devalue lucio because they get GARBAGE LUCIO’S WHO CANT PLAY HIM CORRECTLY
can guarantee if low loses it's fooding, a massive chunk of the player base leaves. I personally have lost interest gameplay wise, but still stick around because of the characters I love.

As a sorta ex sombra main the fact widow will swap off is the fun, same with zen just hammering them down till they swap then you swap and play a better character that’s all it is in my play style. Force a counter swap and then you swap otherwise it is just spawn camp hell for both teams

I disagree with the lucio take so bad. When a healer is good in bronze, the team wins 9 times out of 10. When i have damage lucio or moira in bronze we lose because we have 1 healer.

It's crazy to me that some ppl don't know about everyone playing/hating Cass/McCree. Around the beginning of season 2 or 3 (OW1) he had a 100% pick rate, literally, he was statistically in EVERY game. The number of games without him was so low it was below 0.5%.

I've never been more demotivated to play Overwatch than last season and Hog season 2 meta. Only battlepasses I didn't finish because the gameplay loop was so bad trying to play Monke and Rein. I know I'm not the best but it's getting to that point of try 6v6, mess with the health pools and healing/dmg numbers and just see what happens for a month or 2

Yeah… the tank issues are why I refuse to play Role Queue, because I am not dealing with being the only tank on my team. Until they decide that adding 6v6 back might actually help the game, I’m only playing Open Queue or Arcade, because at least I can have fun there, even in ranked.
16:00 you have NO idea how fun it is to target widow players. I don't need to explain it, it's just always a fun time. They're the perfect hero to target, they have a small hp pool, they're usually behind their team where you're most likely to pull off the assassination, their gun works best in long range, their only option for mobility is on a 12 second cooldown, their ult is basically useless, and even with shit aim, bullets just seem to gravitate toward a widow's head. Can't ask for much more.

Am I the only one that remembers how good it was to play tank on the first seasons of OW2 ? because that to me is a clear indicator that the problem isn't 5v5 but instead is tanks being neglected in the balance patch for multiple seasons in a row while everyone else become stronger and stronger.
Adding onto what Flats said, yea, 5v5 is the better format for a hero shooter, but Overwatch was built on 6v6, and the balance team clearly has not made a good enough transition for the tanks to the new format. There will never be an optimal path for tank balance in 5v5.

As a metal rank attempting to otp Lucio to masters, it's terrifying how many gold games i get that get upset about healing instead of utility. I get there's some games i could have won through swapping, but that's just not the fun for me (counterwatch)
Cass should not have 275 hp. Sojourn nerf was warranted. I only wished one of her buffs was a primary fire projectile velocity buff
