    The big issue is that the wages of ordinary players are outstripping revenue so you can't have money to re invest. The penalties dished out hit the supporters and not the miss management of the club.

    Augustin was not the worst contract, the club broken its own contract was absolutely not the player's fault but the cowboys in charge kicking the can down the road with everything they did

    • @Leeds71

      Me too, and we can add Leicester in to the mix and there are apparently doubts about Wolves, Villa and others as well. remember the relegation battles last season. I would also like to see Leeds start posing the question to the EPL and EFL as they were complicit in this, especially in the case of Everton where we were assured one season- 'nothing to see here', then there was the next.

    I don't want to attack Everton too much (even though if only a few points penalty makes it seem worth cheating to build up a strong squad that survives a points deduction) because Leeds might end up in the same situation.

  • @martinr6298
    @martinr6298 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    so accounting sleight of hands means in effect, the treatment of the debt is "kicking the can down the road" (although the way the team are playing now the can never went near the road and like a Bamford shot, is stuck under the nearest hedge). Does remind me of the Ridsdale years and the financial mismanagement and atrocious contract agreements that happened then. In 2002 Ridsdale bet the house on Champions league income which we missed out on. Now we have bet the house on not getting relegated (failed) and getting promoted (outcome very uncertain). I envisage a fire sale in the summer like we did 20 years ago and LUFC turning into Sheffield Wednesday or Sunderland as next year we dont have the quality of players that we allegedly have now and a manager the expectation has not been matched by the actuality

    He made the transfer money a bit complicated. If you sell a player, you get all the money. If you buy one, it's amortised over his contract.

    • @ardentspy
      @ardentspy หลายเดือนก่อน

      I mean, this is weird. For FFP purposes it wouldn't matter if you paid the money down upfront or paid it in instalments. We wouldn't need to sell a player to "pay an instalment" because the 49ers could lend us the money. But the issue isn't having the money at all.

      @@LeedsUnitedTheView they are not experts only the owners will know the financial state of this club and the longer they remain in the championship the worse it will get
      The 49ers won't have been budgeting for a lengthy stay in the championship that's for certain they will have been wanting and expecting promotion this season
      If it don't happen they will major changes regarding the squad next season because the finances will dictate it

    • @LeedsUnitedTheView

      @chrisbaldwin3609 I get that but that is assuming several years in this devision. Very very a worst case. And then it's a fair assement. Based on what's been reported and what Kieran has said, leeds will be okay unless they are still here in 2026. His year and maybe next is manageable, after less so. I'm not panicing yet, at least until this year is over and we see where we are. It's important we get out of the league, but again as Kieran says we're not in Ridsdale territory here.
