Words:
I've been hanging round the docks, thinking of older songs
And all people I know, talking 'bout TV shows
Talking 'bout favorite stars, driving expensive cars
humming melodies who's words they'll never know
Yes sir, I sing in the street, its the easiest thing to be
Singing songs for fun, bout life in the under-crust
Those people I love em all, but like summer it turns to fall
The song ends, and we go, our separate ways
And I wonder, will I end up like a song
First heard strong, then forgotten and gone
I've walked valleys and peaks, played my songs for free
Played houses and bars, coast to coast, wide and far
Hoping for something to be, sometimes for something to drink
I've been round just 'bout everywhere but your screen
Minute-hour-days go by, then years as bright as fire
Heating up empty lives, reminding our tired minds
One only has so much time, and I've wasted mine
But at least, that's something I can sing
And I wonder, will I end up like a song
First heard strong, then forgotten and gone
Hello, brand new day, what are the rules today?
Am I to work 8 hours? Do I have time to smell the flowers?
Or is time to rush? Daydreamers are told to hush
No time for thinking, thinking doesn't pay
And I wonder, will I end up like a song?
And I wonder, will it take so very long?
Like when thunder shakes the earth until withdrawn
First heard strong, then forgotten and gone
Another great tune!
