Chamade by Guerlain has always been one step ahead of my efforts to understand it. This elusive and mysterious floral from 1969, born from the same gravity as Vol de Nuit or Chanel No. 5, blooms eternal with jasmine, galbanum and sandalwood while heralding the advent of Parure, Jardins de Bagatelle and the one and only, Samsara. Past, present and future meet in this creamy, marble like ode to flowers.

I’ve never smelled chamade. But I do find it interesting how I recently tried Annick goutal’s l’heure exquise and I immediately thought of vol de nuit at least in its mid stage. I have yet to revisit them together to know if I am completely off but vol de nuit seems to hold a place of honor for many of us as a reference to so many other perfumes out there.
I think Vol de Nuit is one of the most beautiful creations that ever existed. I like the coldness, the airiness, the powder, the greenish-blue. I really must try the Annick Goutal, thanks for suggesting it
