    Anybody who reads this this is seriously the most well designed efficient clipboard software I've ever used it totally improves your workflow in everything... Just set a keyboard shortcut to show the main window and whenever you're at a text box all your most used clipboard items are right there

    Brodie ... What you are doing with these short, explanatory videos is really good and needed TH-cam content. Nice to be able to look at an app, real quick, and think / study to see if good for us/me.

    copyq for clipboard management, flameshot for screenshot. these two i use everyday all day. call them bloated or whatever you want, but i don't think no other tool can replace them for me yet.

    Coming to linux from something like macOS, the general off-putting trend seems to be that linux app developers fail to understand proper UI designing methodologies... this application feels like a perfect example as it’s incredible in the feature set that it provides along with all the flexibility however the topic reminded me of an amazing macOS app known as Paste2. It is a clipboard manager and has one of the most beautiful interfaces I’ve seen in such an application.
    I don’t know if anyone else feels this way. Maybe good UI/UX design isn’t a priority with most linux applications. I suppose that might be because the community seems to prefer CLI over a GUI, however that preference doesn’t make sense to me for something like a clipboard manager.

    • @victante
      @victante 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd say the main reason for that is that there isn't a single UI design guideline, there's a bunch of them. Each Desktop Environment has it's own vision and some of them, like Gnome, do try to standardize how apps looks, but the free aspect of linux will never be fully adjusted to a single UI guideline, imo. It's even more complicated when you throw window managers in this mix.
      Standardization is much easier to do in macOS or Windows, since the respective companies can dictate what the guidelines will be.

    • @alphamineron
      @alphamineron 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@victante True, that makes so much sense!
      I’m not sure how to argue the opinionated idea of the “free” aspect of linux conflicting with a single UI design guideline...
      However I would say that linux does need some form of accepted UI guideline which brings the “modern” design feel from Windows and MacOS into Linux systems while maintaining flexibility.
      Technically this might not be true but I would like to present properly riced versions GNOME and KDE (and maybe even OpenBox?) as examples. They standardize UI, giving a rich and modern look while still preserving the flexibility and their respective visions.

    • @victante
      @victante 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alphamineron I tend to agree with what you're saying, I think modern looks are needed in Linux. In that respect, what Gnome and KDE do is great (ElementaryOS too), but I think we will always be stuck with at least a bunch of guidelines, not a unifying one. I'm usually not too radical with the freedom aspect of linux, but I think it's good and should be preserved. It's the nature of the system that anyone can do what they want with it, so I don't see how we could get a unified guideline without killing the freedom aspect (unless someone invents a UI that's so good that everybody will use it anyway, but given how subjective this topic is, I don't see that happening too lol).

    • @alphamineron
      @alphamineron 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@victante I get what you mean...
      I suppose I’m thinking of some sort of a way of preserving the current balance while simultaneously providing some form of a templating/adapting engine which “modernizes” apps like the one showed in the video above into the DE/WM’s design theme...
      Obviously this is very vague, hence it might be hard to understand what I’m saying but think of it like restoring a historical monument with modern technology... the monument is preserved while simultaneously adapting it to modern infrastructure requirements.
      That is a sort of “cutting edge” technological experiment which could be performed in linux

    It does integrate with rofi and this is how Ive used copyq. I tried to integrate it with dmenu by modifying the script however it only works if there is one window. This is because dmenu creates a window and makes the current one lose focus. copyq then doent know where to paste. If anyone can modify the script for dmenu here is the link github.com/cjbassi/rofi-copyq/blob/master/rofi-copyq
    edit: this is not my github account btw

    You could try Ditto (way too overwhelming to me), and/or ClipAngel... kind of CopyQ (problem with this one is , pics after a long time do not paste for some reason, so i have to edit them and recopy to use them) many options but not overwhelming as Ditto (ditto is EXAGGERATED).

  • @AtomToast
    @AtomToast 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This is really starting to get bloated now. Copyq is way more than I would ever want from a simple clipboard manager. If I want note taking, I'd do it in a dedicated note taking app.
    Honestly clipmenu is still my favourite now, it's super basic and does what it's supposed to do. Not storing images could be a downside I guess but tbh I never had a problem with that. But even if I cared about it I'd rather try to extend one of the more minimal options than use a "clipboard manager" with all this added nonsense

    Why?
    You talk so fast. I watch the video and you click on things so fast that I have to rewind again and again to see how you do everything.
    You may be good at technology, but have a heart for people who are trying to get up to speed.

  • @garyradley5694

    When you are explaining things you need to give people a chance to absorb the information present. Take a small break or do brief outline of what has just been presented to reinforce the information being presented.
