But every so often they decide that the customer might actually be a giant doofus, then insert a reference to or parody of said customer in their game. Torgue's DLC was the best/most difficult one because it was really hard trying to play while wheezing from the constant laughter.
My friends put a moratorium on letting me watch them play it on account of how distracting/terrifying my laughter is.
It's also funny bc the voice actor for Torgue is the same as Hercule Satan from dragon ball. The fact he has a tournament to find the strongest fighter and to find the most cowardly one made me laugh so hard be cause of my love of dragon ball.

@@gothicbutterfly013 It is an amusing way of looking at it is it not? Oz as described in the books is divided up into North, South, Wast and West Kingdoms with Emerald City squarely in the middle. West and East are ruled by two evil sisters who are wicked witches. North and South are ruled by two good witches. The Wizard of Oz is allied with North and South and trying to free East and West from evil rule. In a way it is sort of like rival bosses and you could look at it as if the Wizard put a hit out on the Wicked Witch of the West via Dorothy as his assassin in return for getting her home. It's not a serious theory. it's just for fun.
Scott loves the theories about his game, and even wrote books to include lore he couldn't fit in the games. He's just a huge troll

All I know is that the story does exist, and all it really boils down too is a killer kills children, children turn into ghosts, get big revenge by killing killer, in fact that probably is just the story, or Scott might not actually be the troll he normally is, and the story is truly as crazy as people make it sound, who knows. All we know for certain is what I said at first, before the or Scott.

Underrated comment
The "This is Dark Souls" trophy/achievement in Dark Souls 2 was added in response to critics complaining that the game was too hard. You get it for dying for the first time. In Dark Souls.

I still remember an old animation. I think it was called “Dark Souls in a nutshell” the player is on a roll and feeling confident and then Giant Dad invades and back stabs him. As the player is slowly dying on his sword Giant Dad whispers in his ear “Shhhhh…. Welcome to Dark Souls”

I still find the whole "Cloakers not in the launch game" whiners fun to make fun of, since the Cloaker's cut was because he was SO effective at kicking, he'd kick you from the game.
Like, he caused peoples' games to crash in the beta. He wasn't fixed in time of the launch, and thus was fixed up and shipped out in Update #5.
Now THAT is a difficulty tweak

Mr. Torgue does bring up a good point about people not understanding how review scores _should_ work. A 6/10 is, by definition one point above the average.
Meanwhile every media outlet sees it like this: 10 = Perfect, 9 = Amazing, 8 = Good, 7 = Average, 6 = Bad, 5 = No redeeming qualities, 4 or Lower = Only buy a copy second hand to burn it.
They should get rid of the point system and just go for Steam’s Like/Dislike system. Especially for user reviews that seem to be just people posting 10’s and 0’s
The way I see it, it is representative of the actual quality of games. Like, if you got every game in existence and scored them, there'd be an equal number of 1's and 9's, 2's and 8's, more 5's than anything else etc. etc. But three things - one, there's enough good games out there that a game's usually only worth buying if it's 6 or more. Sure, a 5's average, but there are so many bad games out there it's not worth buying a truly average game. Two, most big review sites mainly review big games, and big games have enough money put into them that they're very rarely terrible. Sure, Ghost Recon Breakpoint isn't good, but the guns shoot when you press the trigger and the enemies make a token effort at self preservation. That puts it above a 3, at least. And three, review scores are arbitrary and stupid anyway.
Pretty sure nowadays an 8 is absolute average for most people and the rest sucks. Points are pointless. Most of the time I play 7 or 8 games and have way more fun then a 9.6 or something. Most of the time 9 Pointer games are just complete standard. They look identical, gameplay is basically the same and there are no new things. Except Indie titles, but they get extra points just for beeing indie and the dumb community would complain. Because big companies are always bad and small indie studios with bad games here and there should be treated lightly.

GameFreak did this as far back as Gen V.
It was not without malice towards groups like PETA that they made the villain a selfish hypocrite who was falsely claiming to be an animal rights advocate.
Don´t forget the reversal in DMC 5 where they dedicated more time to the anime than to DmC and put a Dante cowboy hat dance scene in in response to the director of DmC famously saying "Dante is NOT a gay cowboy".

@@ClownDollThatHasContemptForYou During the production of DmC the director gave an interview to show off the new design for the main character, his vision and how he planned to make him different from the old one. He threw ideas around like making Dante a British punk rocker and he also gave like a list of things that this new Dante is not and one of those was "he is not a gay cowboy" to show that this Dante was going to be serious and not whacky like the old one.
Mr. Torgue is in my opinion is one of the best written characters in gaming history. The fact that you can put any phrase and say that he said it and nobody would second guess it is genius.
Mr. Torgue is a national treasure for Pandora. And he's the [second] best character in the history of borderlands.
Also he taught us all there's nothing more badass than respecting women!! GUITAR SOLO!!!
Always a bonus when there is some Mr. Torgue injected anywhere.

I never thought Cawthon was annoyed with the theorists as a whole. I always thought it was the small section that practically harassed him directly for confirmation of lore.
Wasn't the Fnaf series created because Scott got a bad review on his old game "Chipper and son's lumber co" saying that "the characters looked and moved like animatronics"

Killing everyone in a level in Hitman. Exploding things in Sniper Elite. Losing your train or crashing your bus in a ditch. Mike is just an all 'round special guy, really. Although "Whups, that was a grenade." is what you might term, "Peak Mike."
I think the 'Mike special' varies by game type.

When Andy hated on the Colorado level of Hitman - No Subtitle and its dev tried to ruin him IRL with a disgusting in-game cocktail in Hitman 2.
I know the story about the cocktail but...ruin him in IRL?
@@Arcadio89 One of the channel's ongoing video traditions is to make and sample drink recipes found in games. The Hitman 2 drink recipe was put there because the dev knew this and wanted some fun revenge. It's a great video.

"The customer is always right" is like the battle cry of the customers who are almost certainly 100% wrong and are never going to get what they want even if they scream at your managers manager like a petulant toddler.
The customer isn't always wrong but hoooooooooooooo boy their track record ain't great friends...
I always said: "The quote is a customer is always a customer, until they're not". They'd ask when they'd not be a customer, and of course the answer is when they decide not to pay what is owed or were asked to leave. Then they were a trespasser and criminal. 8/10, only the most vicious Karens and assholes fought it

It's IOI that make them but it could also explain why Mike, Jane and Andy all feature on the whiteboard in Miami's medical bay. That cocktail gave them a case of the rumbly tummies.
I have to admit, is it even necessary to buy Hitman 2016 since almost all of it is actually inside Hitman 2 as DLC?
@@sgtraytango For Hitman No Subtitle, Sumo Digital created the Colorado level, which Andy famously disliked. An employee from Sumo then approached Andy at an event, asking him what his least favourite cocktail ingredients were (since Oxbox were known for making cocktails from video games). And then lo and behold, a cocktail recipe (the Dragon Flame) showed up in Hitman 2's Isle of Sgail level, which Sumo Digital designed (as well as Colombia).

So glad you mentioned Scorpia ! She's a legendary game reviewer and was a pioneer at the time. Her Ultima 8 review is one of the harshest pieces I've ever read, but it always came from a place of helping fellow rpg lovers know whether or not they should actually spend money in a game. She disappeared from the internet almost completely, although I think I recall someone finding her again a few years ago and doing a nice interview.
Stuart Campbell was much harsher than Scorpia, particularly his rant back in January 1995 about exclusive reviews and the debacle that was Rise of the Robots on Amiga Power Magazine.
I didn't even know about the hate on the Diablo 3 Grafic. But I have to say: "Whimsyshire" is one of the greatest trolls on haters ever.
The only complaint I remember when Diablo 3 came out was that there was no offline play.
@@cooltrainervaultboy-39 Jeah, this was something, but I always have a at least fine internet connection, so for me personally, this was never such a bad thing.
I'll be honest, I never understood it myself. I played Diablo 1 and 2 at release, Diablo 3 felt like a natural progression to me just due to technology moving on. Not saying people's opinions are invalid but... I just never got the hate. Frankly I had a much bigger problem with Diablo 3's launch decision to include a real money auction house. Also remain unthrilled at the whole 'no offline play' thing. It's not usually an issue but it kinda sucks that a game I only ever play alone can just... turn off if my connection flakes out for any number of reasons.
People fixate on weird stuff tho.

Offline play is crucial to me. Guess I'll re-run the first two again. They're still fun.

On the subject of FNAF, the first game itself was created in response to reviews of one of Cawthon's earlier games, Chipper & Sons Lumber Co, saying that rather than looking cute the characters looked like creepy animatronics, so Cawthon responded with "So it's creepy animatronics you want, huh?"
Fun fact: that crack from DMC: DMC gets referenced in Devil May Cry 5.
Spoilers ahead for the end of DMC5
During the penultimate boss fight against Vergil as Dante, Virgil can summon a blue doppelgänger of himself, similar to what DMC: DMC’s Vergil can do. Dante’s response is “You, beat me? Not in a million years.”
Also, Nero has a particularly important use of the phrase “FUCK YOU!”, so the game does enjoy its call-backs.
How the fuck did you forget Nero mocking the soldier in the first mission??
"Cheer up, crew-cut! You taking notes?" A direct reference to Donte who was a sourpuss with a crew-cut
Does Kingdom Hearts 3 count? Everyone called it too easy, and criticized it for not having a Critical Mode difficulty. So, the devs released a Critical Mode that's so difficult it's been compared to Dark Souls.

even the boss is surprising from a plot standpoint not from a difficulty level
They also did that further by making the Re:Mind DLC 90% brutally difficult boss fights.
In fact the secret final boss, (I won't say who, because some people may not have reached them yet because of said difficulty) is so unbelievably hard, they've dethroned both Lingering Will and Young Xehanort as the hardest secret boss of the series in many people's opinions.
This is what happens when you listen to masochist online. Bad mojo brotha.
dont forget that the remind dlc also can make your experience 100x worse by turning some of the pro codes on: no cure, no items, hp/mp constantly draining, etc etc
Bro, I was THRILLED with that Critical Mode. Made the game a lot more fun.
After this video I'm so invested in knowing more about Scorpia. What a trailblazer she was. Read on Wikipedia that she stopped updating her personal game review blog(which she started after getting fired and receiving no more offers in the industry) because she couldn't afford a pc to review newer games anymore and that's so sad. :(
I mean to be fair Scott also loves people finding all the secrets in his games to the point you have to go into his websites’ codes to find information about the next game in the series, so Mr. Hippo is more of a troll than anything else. Heck multiple of the animatronics in UCN talk about “the one you should not have killed” and Orville, the one Mr. Hippo always talks about, says “He tried to release you. He tried to release us. But I’m not gonna let that happen. I will hold you here. I will keep you here. No matter how many times they burn us.” with an overlapping child’s voice :)

Yknow, when sequels have plotholes that the vreators SHOULD'VE known better about, have things changed thst don't make sense, or make the main character suddenly have black hair and be an ass for no reason as if that's improvement somehow.
Game creators deserve to be called out for obvious bullsh*t. And then of course the creators make fun of people sometimes rightfully angry at the absolutly gross and ridiculous changes the "oh so smart and knowledgeable creators of the game" made.
Some aren't even diehard fans, they are expectedly upset at stupid unessacery changes and things that don't even make sense, taking out beloved enemies, changing EVERYTHING we once knew and familiarized with a character, or taking the game and simply making it worse.
Just because they created the game doesn't always mean they know what's best for it, or that what they do with the game is ever a good idea.

Honestly that wig bit especially pokes fun at people leaping to conclusion and generally turns remake dante (henceforth donte) into the butt of a joke, where his rebelious nature which even attempted to reflect itself in a meta sense got to him. Quite similar to dmc 3 dante's character arc, actually. But while dante learned to embrace his heritage donte got his forced on himself. By no means I'm saying dmc remake is anything other than a bland butter sandwich to snack on between dmc 4 and 5, but you can't really tell me that the people who only went "o he mad foon o' ol dante hare!" without even mentioning the fact that donte gets white hair later on are not knee-jerk thin-skinned crybabies. Even worse nowadays since it should be common knowledge by now to the "diehard fans that know the game better than the creators".

Jesus christ you must be bankrupt. I support OX as a member, both channels, that's how I show my support. To be honest, it was their over monetisation of videos that lead to me finally getting an ad blocker.

as a payday 2 vet i will say that the cloakers definaly do cloak themselves. They use smoke bombs and also hide in vents, sewers and probably most annoyingly, under cars and will scare the shit out of you

Isn't there one animatronic you can't disable, and it raises a random animatronic's AI level though?

Imagine robbing a bank, then suddenly you hear a weird, almost beeping sound, then about 1 second later you've been roundhouse kicked in the back of the head by a spec-ops soldier who just dropped on you through a vent in the ceiling.

Gotta love the irony of DMC Devil May Cry though cause despite them trying to hit back at people who didn't like the game and the Dante redesign, the game never received a sequel as they went back to making games for the original series. Admittedly makes me smile knowing that all the sass in the world couldn't save the game from being mediocre and not very successful.
Also despite Mr Hippo being an allegory for just taking the story for what it is, Scott hasn't stopped making new games and even books to just create more story. Least MatPat is there to help try and make sense of it all (least for me cause I ain't spending my time trying to comb through everything to get something akin to a coherent story).
Never played DMC DMC, but I watched GamingSins review it, and WOW did they make Dante unlikable. Dane was cool because of his quips and always calm demeanor. In DMC he's getting in a back and forth "Fuck you" contest with demons like kids in a comment section. And in this video he's smoking and drinking 666 alcohol. It's a prequel, so I could take him not starting out with black hair or his iconic red coat, but his personality is such a tank to his coolness factor that he's just unbearable. Even if he had the white hair and red coat the whole time it would still be an insult to him.
@White-Van Helsing It was only financially successful because 4 revived the series. Despite being half a game it was twice as good as DmC. Meanwhile V is the best selling in the series and the most critically acclaimed by far.

DmC sold a total of 3.6M copies across both versions. V sold 3.5M in a single year.
@White-Van Helsing Capcom stepped in to modify the entire game in response, did a 180 on the series direction, and now treats it like a redheaded stepchild. Capcom themselves said "excessive outsourcing has prompted a decline in quality" and will never have another western studio work on their IP.
Ninja Theory has not made another successful game since.

The only funny part of this joke that DMC made with old Dante fans is the fact that, a week later, they were releasing a DLC with the classic look of the character. It seems that it wasn’t much fun and they had to appeal to old fans not to take damage in sales.

Ah, the Cloaker. The reason he wasn't part of Payday 2 on launch was due to a bug that would instantly crash the game when you got "cloaked". Thankfully, it didn't take too long to fix it, so when you get roundhouse kicked and the cloaker is bashing your face in, he will apologetically say, "Yeah, yeah, I know I'm late."
I never understood creators who take issue with people theorising about their games. Oh no you have a loyal fan base who not only love your work but want to spend time replaying it to appreciate every detail and critically engage with what you made.

The actual origin of fnaf, the series as a whole not the lore, is that Scott's prior games were scoffed at for stiff movements and being animatronic-like, so he just said screw it, and made a smash hit as a big f-u to the haters, fnaf as a whole earned its spot on the list.
