Very useful discussion, thank you! As someone who works with various dogs I can say the concept of "one of these things is not like the other" exists as presented in the albino chimp story. Many dogs will act alarmed by a person who appears erratic, unpredictable or otherwise "not like the others". This is why dogs can be unpredictable around young children, very old people or those with conditions which cause them to move erratically. The reason for this behavior points more to underlying universal evolutionary patterning then to individual cognition.
