Saw him live at Cardiff with this line up Crazyhead were supporting him. The Atmosphere was incredible...The fact I got beat up on the way home, in no way put a dampener on one of the best gigs I've seen.

I remember like it was yesterday he said he just wanted to be amused. Not happy, not rich, not in love. Amused. At the time I thought that was the worst thing I'd ever heard. @@arthegon The 'Ankerside' mentioned in the lyrics is a nod to the Ankerside shopping centre in Tamworth UK which was the main town near to where he lived in Drayton Basset. The scrap yard on front of Saint Julian was only half a mile from where I lived

I gather that Cope didn’t remain fond of the pop tunes he released in the 1986-87 timeframe. But songs like “World Shut Your Mouth,” “Trampoline,” and “Charlotte Anne” are the only part of his oeuvre that I can listen to on a regular basis.

An oddity is that his debut solo album from 1983/84 had the same name as this song but this song didn't appear until 1986.
