- I ended up going to Railfest last weekend to take part in the festivities! I also got to bring along the NS Lackawanna SD70 heritage unit model from Lionel to compare it to the real thing!
Nice meseum visit........F units are still my favorite....very cool
I'm jealous you had such nice weather. I went on Saturday, and it was completely overcast. While I was looking at 1074, it started to pour, so it got cut short. Seeing that locomotive up close and personal made me appreciate it way more. - Ryan
Hey Ray great video nice to see you got your hands on an sd70 great engine enjoy it I do
I think colors look pretty good 👍, close enough for me, love that you are getting a diesel collection 👍 love those diesels beautiful trains in video I got to start collecting my Csx heritage units great purchase on new engine Ray
Sweet looking engine ❤
Very nice. I got to go on the Western Maryland 734 for a photo shot excursion that ran from Cumberland to Frostburg Md. Great ride.
Your visits to the Museum both times is awesome videos , my second viewing of your videos as i'm new to the channel. Your SD 70 looks great. 👍
@@HaroldAlexis-bb8sd thanks Harold !
I have the MTH version that came out several years ago. There is a difference in the gray paint, That's for sure. I'm amazed at what people put up with in these high-price toys.
I bought mine from Grzyboski’s when it released and love it. Like you said the grey is a but too white but it doesn’t bother me too much either. Great video!
NICE LOOKIN ENGINE RAY. I'M NO EXPERT ON THE COLORS HOWEVER I THINK YOUR ENGINE IS FLY JUST THE WAY IT IS. IF PPL WANT PERFECTION THEY SHUD BILD THE TRAINS THEMSELVES. I ALSO SEE HOW U R BILDIN UP YUR DIESEL ENGINE COLLECTION. GOOD LUCK WITH THEM ALL AND I'LL SEE YOU ON THE NEXT VIDEO. 🙂👍👍
Hmm, my comment from last night disappeared, don't know why.
Anyway, that's a good-looking Lackawanna SD70 Ray! You know what? The grey paint on the real Heritage unit's probably going to fade to match the model in a year or two anyway so you've just got to be patient!
Looks like it was a fun day for the wife and yourself, thanks for bringing us along! b
Agree Ray, slightly off but not as bad as other color mistakes they have made. Looks like you had an awesome day, too bad there is no video of you using the handcar!
I’m fortunate enough to have the first edition where the visor on the cab is correct. But I have 15 of 20 heritage units and one was the latest jersey central where the color is off , whatever I’m not going to lose sleep over it !
You better get the MTH model of #26 at York
Very nice, Ray. It doesn't look too bad, just keep it out of direct light so it won't look as white. I think that the FasTrack gray roadbed is a bit closer in tone to the actual 1074. If Lionel ever got a color correct, what would people crab about? It always seems to be their bug-a-boo, really. I doubt that anyone would complain about having one in their collection, that's for sure. They are nice units, with very good detail. An excellent video, as always.
@@johnandrus3901 totally agree John
@@RaysTrains I'm hoping to catch up with you at York. I'll be staying at the Motel 6 on Arsenal Road/US 30, right by the Round The Clock Diner. It's a pretty convenient location. I'm sure that you will post a few more videos, along with a 3R/4D podcast, between now and then. As always, keep the excellent content coming.
If I remember from seeing Lackawannas as a kid there were 2 shades of gray paint. Not sure though.
Have you ever noticed that Lionel never makes anything too dark? The colors are always too light. N&W J Engine red was basically orange, NJC heritage orange was basically yellow, the NYC Dreyfuss grey was basically white, same with the Erie Lackawanna PA Alcos. I could list several more but they can’t get shades of color right, and they show little interest in actually fixing it. Meanwhile MTH, Altas, 3rd rail etc never seem to have any issues. So why can’t the leader in o gauge trains figure it out? Baffling to me.
@@DJHProductions ur actually so right the Dreyfuss grey was legit white lol
@@RaysTrains unless it’s black I don’t preorder anything anymore unless I see it in person. I’ve been burned too many times in the past to trust Lionel to get colors right.
Awesome Engine! Thanks for the comparison!
