I have the Spyderco sharpening system and watching this video really helped me figure out how to sharpen my wire snips. Thank you for putting this video out.
The type of wire cutters you demonstrated --- as you sharpen them like you showed, you take metal off the cutting. edges and the blades will not contact together. How do you compensate for that?
Agree with comment below. But the Spiderco sharpener, though certainly effective for wire cutters, and knives etc. well isn't cheap for the entire system (it is made in America thumbs up there). But you can buy the tri angle sharpeners individually, and they are only around $15.
On this wire cutter both of the blades are sharp and they both cut through what is being cut. When it cuts through thick wire it cuts from both sides until the blades meet, severing the wire. I wouldn't classify it as an anvil cutter (though both blades close touching each other like an anvil) which has one sharp blade and the other is dull.

The stone removes very little metal and I haven't had any issues with the wire cutters blades not contacting together.

Maybe some oil too?
Got some new wire cutters that don't cut the way I would like them to
Hopefully sharpening them will help.

$127. Just buy a new set of pliers!
I dont think youre supposed to sharpen the other side, its an anvil style cutter is it not? One side is sharp the other isnt
