St. Martin's Island is unsuitable for any military base. As a coral island, it's difficult for large ships to approach, and its close proximity to Myanmar makes it vulnerable to attacks. A small, portable surface-to-surface missile from Myanmar could cause significant damage. Additionally, the island lacks mountains to shield expensive equipment and is too small to build runway for regular military aircraft . The idea of establishing a military base there is purely a fabrication by Hasina.
None of the things you mentioned is a real obstacle. Or do you belive, when the US puts its air bases in places like Syria, Iraq, Somalia or Afghanistan, they can't handle any threat for a base on this island? Look up: Bucholz Army Airfield, Kwajalein Atoll

It would have been in India's interest to have an US base on St Martin island off the coast of Bangladesh. At least both countries can jointly keep an eye on China. St Martin island is too small to provide logistic support to US naval warships for which they will have to depend on India.
Look, India has been our biggest neighbor for the last 50 years but India didn't act like a good neighbor, pls don't take my words for it pls do your research. In 1972 Farakka was opened for testing for a few days which by now made Bangladesh a desert. We have been paying Adani 400 core per month regardless we use the electricity, only Taka 40 tariff per ton for transit thru BD, we are 4th largest remittance, 3rd largest trade partner, #1 in tourism yet India supports Tyrants to advance their agenda who rubber stamp India's wishes. Have you ever heard that one country will fill-up its naturally flowing river with pipes and dirt to serve India's 7 sisters. Just a few years back to balance trade we requested a list of 1600 items and only 6 was approved. Our borders are more dangerous than the Gaza/Israel border, During covid we paid advance for vaccines but that wasn't delivered. We can list 1000 more such examples. In 1971 India also gained by defusing tension from its east. It is in both our interests to keep good relationships but India is just talks and Takes. If India thinks they don't need Bangladesh, we will be happy if you shut down all trades and seal the border. Arguably the largest democracy should focus on building relationships with the ppl of Bangladesh rather than with its Dictator's who stay in power serving India's unfair interests. Our minorities, our brothers and we will protect them with our lives, yes during tension some ppl try to play the race card but it's under control. We don't talk about gross minority treatments that take place within india. In order to become a superpower one's heart needs to be like one, I think Indians should focus on its public health issues so we don't have to see ppl pooping by train tracks. Thank you
which that island would serve as a good surveillance base... if a war does break out. India would probably step in with the blockade with or without bangadash so it isn't an absolute necessity. Her Fall was triggered by multiple domestic issue.
I don't think that island would have been suited to establish any large-scale military base there but it would be a good location to set up surveillance over the sea (namely submarines) so yes; Bangladesh would have got a good commission for the base but Beijing would be extremely upset if she had agreed. So the cost is more than the gain and besides; Sheik's ouster was triggered by the long-term domestic issue and how she became an autocratic leader over time... For better or for worse; What happened in Myanmar (Burma) where the military Junta seized/maintained its power through a pure military rule which expanded the civil unrest nationwide for over 2 years may have given the cold shoulder to Bangedash's military generals. Thankful, ly they decided not to back its former leader soon after the crackdown on the student protests, which ugly to bring potential stability back to the nation, on unlike the route Burma's military Juntchoseke to maintain power after losing public support. This also gives them a solid position as one of the main 3 negotiators on the table during the transition government.
