Hey man. Thanks for the comment. Apologies for not getting back sooner. I had already given away the book but please keep watching....I have giveaways every now and then. I like your channel too.
I loved all of Chandler's books. High Window was one of the best. Ross Mcdonald was also great but I haven't read that one. Dennis Lehane has been on my tbr for years. Dashiell Hammett is one of my favorite crime writers. My favorite of his is Red Harvest. Excellent selection. Send me the damn book 😂
Hey, my friend. Thanks for watching and thanks for the cool comment. I appreciate it. My email is jasonsinferno@yahoo.com. If you'll get in touch and give me an address I'll send off an awesome gift. Have a great day!!!!
Just found your channel. New subscriber. Loved “Mystic River.” The movie adaptation is solid. Also a big fan of Jim Thompson’s” The Getaway.” Sam Peckinpah did a great job directing the movie & of course Steve McQueen is always stellar.❤
Hey there. Thanks alot for subscribing and checking out my videos. I really appreciate it. And thanks for the cool comment. I love Steve McQueen but haven't seen The Getaway. Thanks for mentioning it, I'll check it out.
Mystic River is one of my favorite movies but I haven't read the book. I'll definitely add it to my tbr list along with Farewell, My Lovely. Thanks for the recommendations.
Another great list. 2 out 5 this time. I sometimes feel guilty for reading crime novels instead of literature but I guess it's all about what we get from the story. Lawrence Block is to New York what Chandler is to LA. I love the Matthew Scudder novels, they have a great Irish feel to them and of course Scudder is an alcoholic. I never really understood AA until I read these books.
I love anything Raymond Chandler wrote wrote. I even read a biography of him. High window was magnificent! Mystic river blew me away. But farewell my lovely is a masterpiece as is the big sleep. I’m new to channel always looking for mystery and crime suggestions. Aloha
@@MarilynMayaMendoza well said. I see you read alot of great books. Very cool. I love Chandler too. One I read farewell my lovely I put everything else down and read all of his books. His early stories are good too. Thanks for the awesome comment.
I like your style! Have you read any Jim Thompson? I've read like 25 of his novels, including The Killer Inside Me, The Grifters, The Getaway. Also George Higgins wrote a vintage crime novel called Cogan's Trade that was made into Killing Them Softly, one of my Top 10 favorite movies with dialogue that sounds like music.
Hey man, good to hear from you. Thanks for the great comment. I have heard of Jim Thompson but I can't say I've read anything by him. But I sure will now. Thanks to you I just ordered The Killer Inside Me. And I just read that Stephen King said Thompson was completely "over the top." And just on Wikipedia it says he was "more horrowing than Chandler and Hammett." Thanks alot for the recommendation. I can't wait to read his stuff.
@@Sunnyvalereject24 Good call! Killer Inside Me is my personal favorite Thompson. A close 2nd would be Savage Night with the craziest of climaxes. And thank you for your channel. I look forward to more of your videos. Goosebumps was also my gateway to horror fiction.
Hey thanks man, that's cool to hear. I'll check out Savage Night too. Thanks so much for watching my videos. And it sounds like you know your sh$t, so happy to hear from you anytime.
Not sure why, but I tend to neglect crime writing as a genre. I definitely need to make an effort to read some of the canonical authors of the genre on your list. The only crime writer I've read a good amount of is James Crumley and I love his books. I think you would too.
Crime drama novels are not my genre but I will dip into them from time to time. Check out my friend's channel Kevin Towle Reads. Kevin is really into the crime novels. Kevin has introduced me to a few crime writers. Hahaha, you took a drink to the Raging Alcoholic! And I finally found me a book that I've been searching for. The Collected Stories of Eudora Welty! Yay! Oh, I have Mystic River but have yet to read it. Welcome back! -James
What's up my friend. I can't believe I have to go back to work Monday. How depressing. Like an animal that got let out if it's cage only to be caught and put back. You'll love Welty. Her stories are pure, short and humorous. I love crime novels. None of these are dramatic, or should I say classed as such....more like straight grit. To me the're more realistic that alot if other genres/books. I mean that in the sense that folks turn a blind eye to this kinda stuff, even in their own communities.
Allow your writing to bring people deep down into the ditch you were born into? It ain't right havin' to go back to teachin' so soon, but I hope it will be a great school year for ya!
I have read novels by all these authors. Different selections on MacDonalds and Lehane but still solid authors.
Send me the damn book!

James Crumley.....that name sounds so familiar. I'll check him out.
Matter of fact, I reviewed a book by an author that Kevin recommended. John Sandford.
I'll go check that review out. I've heard of his work.
Another great vid, also congratulations on the subscriber growth recently! x
Thank you so much. I hope you're doing well.
Cool video, man. I heard of Chandler and the Maltese Falcon but not the others. I will certainly check them out. I dig crime writing.
Check out Mystic River. It's pretty dang cool.
