    This is so eye-opening. As a cis woman I've long been dealing with the pressures of societal expectations of appearance and beauty, but it never occurred to me how much more they would weigh on trans women in order to feel accepted. If I go out without makeup, I might feel unpolished or self-conscious, but I still feel like myself and know that others will perceive me for who I am. A trans woman deciding not to get dressed up, might be risking her mental well-being on an entirely different level. Just another of many burdens they have to bear in order to exist in our society.

    I born a girl and, sometimes, i still strugle with being feminine enough. I see myself as a woman, but there's some people who say that i'm not feminine and it makes me really sad. Ok, i don't care about make-up, hair, jewlery, clothes, but i'm still me. And you're still you: keep yourself as real as possible and don't follow all the rules. Do whatever makes you happy.

    • @Munchkin325
      @Munchkin325 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree. She seems to be falling into that societal trap of what femininity is "supposed" to look like. It's an entire spectrum. I like makeup, perfume, 'girly' clothes, but I don't care enough to make it a daily thing. Some women prefer to live in a tee and sweats. That's awesome too. Just do what feels right to you. At the end of the day we're all still women.

    I don’t know how I would be able to handle all the pressure. In the Latino community, specially the one in USA, they expect us to be always put together, have this feisty flirty bubbly personality and it’s exhausting. I’m a introvert and I would always get those “Mija dress up more, how you gonna catch someone’s eye.””Stop hiding, be more up there” “what you wearing?!”.... All the the goodness in the universe for you!!!

    I find the speech part so interesting. So if you learn to / practice speaking in a higher tone or whatever, does that eventually become natural? Or do you always have to make a conscious effort to make your voice like that?

    • @leosun3
      @leosun3 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      You will have to make conscious effort for some time and then it should just come naturally :) like any kind of training really!

    • @gregorywiederecht
      @gregorywiederecht 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Initially, yeah it's a conscious effort. But, eventually, muscle memory will build up and your voice will naturally sit higher. The reverse is also true, you can also train your voice to be lower. It's not just a trans thing, cis people also get voice training for all sorts of reasons

    Phewwww, this is an emotional one. 😭
    A core theme of the first year of my transition was doubt. I was always concerned whether or not I was making “the right choice.”
    So often we hear the narrative of trans people being “trapped in the wrong body.” While some of that was true for me, I rarely got such strong feelings of confirmation.
    I’m happy that today I am sure that I made the right decisions and confident that I will continue doing so. ♥️
    I hope this episode gives you some insight into what some other trans and non-binary folks experience. ✨

    I feel like all those emotions and the ups and downs, the crying is like a newborn. Newborns do that because they’re getting used to being out in the world, they’re learning to be who they are and figuring out how to do things, what they like and don’t like. Soo it’s okay to feel all types of feelings and just be grateful you’re transitioning now and not back 100yrs. Yes there’s still hate but you have a lot more support now. You just have to find your own support system which there’s plenty of. You will find your balance and place in this world.

    There is something so very wrong with TSA. Before a person steps into a body scanner an officer presses a button selecting the persons gender (based off of appearance). When a trans person walks through the body scanner with genitalia that may be different to their appearance the yellow alarm goes off. Trans people must be pat down, sometimes they are led to private rooms to be asked questions. I’m so grateful that you had a positive experience with this. So many trans people don’t.

    I'm AFAB, not cis but I've never done any hormone stuff in my life and I still have facial hair. I would basically have a small teenage boy mustache and beard if I let it grow in. It causes me so much dismorphia, I hate it. And I hate that I hate because it's just a natural part of my body, just like yours Andrea. I want to get mine lazer removed too, and I will if I get the chance but what I really wish is that more femme presenting (because I do present more femme whether I like it or not) people could look however they want and not be judged or questioned. I wish femme people could just be hairy and that be okay. Instead you get questioned and I get mocked for it
