Ok, Netflix, THIS is the type of content quality that keeps me subscribed.
I must admit my expectations got kinda subverted. After all the articles I have read I was expecting this series to be loaded some weird conspiracy stuff but it was very grounded, informative and entertaining. In the first episodes the very high production value caught me. The shots are incredible, the sound design impressive and let's be honest.. Graham Hancock is a wonderful presenter. Also.... I REALLY appreciate a show treating it's viewer in a respectable way instead of insulting their intelligence over and over again. In every single episode ou can feel all the passion and thought which was put into this series. The structure was great keeping it very fast paced while yet still understandable to everyone and being at the ~25min lenght per episode made it easy to watch it whenever there was enough time.
I knew there wasn't too much actual new stuff for me so I have planned to just keep it running while getting some other stuff done. I'm surprised how quick the series managed to pull all my attention and kept me fascinated until the very last frame.
And no, by praising it I do say I take every of the show's presented theory as fact. The show doesn't either. It gives thoughts to think about. That's all.

I'm almost done watching this series and in all honestly it's interesting. Is it entertaining? Yes absolutely. Does it open your mind and make you ponder? Yes it does. However it makes you a little too open minded that your brains fall out of your skull. It's like Graham Hancock is onto something, but we never truly know what that something is. I don't even think he knows what it is. He does make some great points about how our ancestors were not as primitive as we think they were or how mainstream archaeology is not researching important ancient structures when they should be. All of this is true. However the evidence he has to prove that these civilizations are connected to one another is based on false ideologies. For example he keeps mentioning a great flood that occurred during the end of the ice age. While it is true that great flooding happened around this period, there was no global flood. He makes it seem like these floods happened all at once, and this alone leads to conspiracy theorists and religious nutjobs easily falling for this manipulative trap. Hancock even openly admitted in the series that he believes that myths should be counted as evidence for his theory. That is not how science works, you can't use myths as evidence because they are flawed or corrupted chain of word. In the same way we wouldn't use a fictional novel as a piece of evidence to a court case murder. Hancock does not have full evidence if at all to support his claim. I think instead of saying that there was this massive mysterious global civilization, he should say that he believes that there were advanced ancient civilizations before the ice age but that they were largely wiped out. This is partially true and has greater evidence to back it up. Not the other way around.

It literally didn't happen. That site isn't owned by the US Government, to begin with, it's owned by the local native american tribe. Beyond that, he literally was never banned from entering, he was denied a request to reserve the location for a four day long filming session with a full camera crew. He was still welcome to enter it at any time and to film it with civilian filming equipment. Hancock is a serial liar, because he is a con-man.
You distrust "experts" because you've been told to distrust them by charismatic con-artists like Hancock. We have EXTENSIVE documentation that he's a liar and just makes garbage up to sell books. The first episode of this series contains the most egregious example of him just lying and making trash up. Graham Hancock randomly asserts that Nan Madol might be as old as 16,000+ years old with no evidence, just his claim. But we know from uranium series dating of the building materials of Nan Madol, cultural layer dating of the surrounding areas and because the local people LITERALLY HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF IT'S CONSTRUCTION that it's 900 years old. You can find this out with literally 10 - 20 minutes of research into the topic.
But Graham repeatedly hammers it into your skull every few chapters to "distrust the experts." Why do you think every scientist on the planet is entered into some kind of shadowy cabal to keep secrets from you? I don't even know why I'm typing this, you're just going to call me an evil scientist man hiding the truth from you because you've been programmed by a cult lmao

I put this netflix series on to watch in the background, I like doing that with a lot of the docuseries netflix has out, like the ones about ancient Rome. But this was downright painful to watch. He literally whines the whole time that archeologists use the standard tools of their trade to date stuff and tell us those dates. Like no shit, what else are they supposed to do. He goes on and on that stuff can predate the actual time that these ancient people carved into to wall. Well duh, but he has no clue when, and his guess is as good as anyone else's. I got as far as him suggesting that something must have happened more than 10k years before the oldest dated telling of the story. The likelihood that a story was passed down for 10k years, passed down accurately, is ridiculous. These are times when whole groups of people would die off, and yet they kept this one story alive. This guy is just playing victim for attention.

      Yeah sure.
It is common for pseudo-archaeologists like Graham Hancock and Erich von-Däniken to paint a cloud of mystery and skepticism around non-European archaeology.
They begin by casting a shadow over any genius astrological and homogenous architecture and innovation found in distant lands of distant times, like Easter Island for instance.
They then go on to claim how these amazing feats of human activity may be related or that they may have been guided or aided by another population of more intelligent humans. The Romans were fiercely intelligent and powerful, capable of amazing feats, but oh no, the Rapa Nui could never have carved the Moai when they're so undeveloped in their society.
Believe it or not, but our collective intelligence and capacity for greatness evolved long before the after math of the Ice Age. And everything, no matter who you are or where you're from, can easily be explained. Archaeology and the human past isn't shrouded in mysticism. It's disrespectful, actually, to make claims that our ancestors were less developed than we are, and that their great feats must have come elsewhere.
How would you like it if, say you got an A + on a difficult exam, and 1000 years later, only for someone to say, 'oh no, from what we understand of their life and intelligence, there is no way they actually earn't that A+.'

@@satireofcircumstance6458 Archeologists who did research on Egypt are full of shit. This country in modern society is described as the core of ancient history. Whatever new things are discovered they are afraid of taking away reputation, fame and money from them. Many people are complaining it is almost impossible to do research there because of it. You can google it easily
