However, there have been numerous depictions of people (not just vikings) dating back to the iron age that show horned helmets. So while it likely wasn't a requirement for all vikings, it's possible that some higher-ranked warriors may have had horned helmets. It's difficult to dismiss the idea of horned helmets entirely because this feature appears in so many images from multiple cultures.
