Don’t forget Ranma 1/2, it’s coming back soon! Also Inuyasha has already had a remake/continuation (even though it was kinda garbage) (Rumiko Takahashi fan girl moment)
on anime style, i think we can refer to kaguya-sama as an example of how Ouran *could* move its animation style to 2024. in kaguya-sama there were a lot of moments in which the animators express their characters' emotions and emotional inner worlds through the silly and over-the-top, melodramatic but hella funny ways that i believe was inspired by Ouran. we should be looking at the genre of present-day shoujo to see how Ouran has influenced them (which is a lotttt), and how potentially, if they ever do, they can be influenced back in 2024. I think the animation style isn't an insurmountable thing, but i agree there may be too many obstacles around Ouran as a piece of media for production houses to take the risk :(
Also, unfortunately, anime like Ouran is mainly an advertisement for the audience to go buy the manga. It served it main funtion so unless the manga gets some sort of special re-release it's unlikely they have any reason to either continue the anime or remake it.
Only thing keeping me hopeful is the fruits basket remake where they also finished the series from its original 2001 anime that also only had 1 season! Honestly , I've only recently watched the anime and I've immediately came to terms with the fact this show will never get a season 2 and I agree with this video. The modern ages really shifted anime into its current state.
Two things one the last two episodes of the anime was created as an anime only arc to finish up the anime. And in a way it was done like a lot of other anime had done in the past, including blue exorcist and Fullmetal alchemist. They could’ve easily done what blue exorcist did and had ignored the last couple of episodes of the first season of the anime and just jump straight into season two. Or they could’ve made a reboot with FMA or more recently fruits baskets.

@lemoncakess great question! I would say watch the anime and then read the manga(which has 72 chapters). I recommend both! Also, there are two more manga series for Peach Girl, one focuses on the main antagonist and then the other is 10 years after the events of Peach Girl (It's called Peach Girl Next) in which the characters are in their 20s, 27 to be exact. In my opinion, I still believe believe Peach Girl needs a sequel sequel

i def agree that we aren’t getting a “season 2” in the way people want it though. i think ultimately too much time has passed and it just wouldn’t work. totally think a remake COULD happen though. ranma is from the late 80s (so, even older basically) and deals with topics like gender too, so anything could happen i think! 🙏
Is any of that, The studios in Japan have no problem recreating or changing styles, I don't think they are also thinking about the relationship of the show with the english voice actor of Tamaki, It's ridiculous to think that when even in Japan when there is a voice actor controversy they often change the actor to clean the reputation of what is being produced, even if it's not something they love, frankly, I don't think even the developers know the names of the show's voice actors in any country outside Japan. Current anime studios have no problem neither being politically incorrect or controversial, and they have a different vision of the LGBT community, especially the trans community, for better and for worse, there are plenty of current examples of how little they care on the subject of being controversial or politically incorrect. The reason for why is never going to be a season 2 despite how much I do like the anime, It's because the writers of the anime got themselfs into a trap. Is because it was in a very different place than the manga and they changed a lot of significant things in the anime, not only in the ending, but in the characters, although yes, the ending is what complicated it the most. it's easier to do a new anime from 0 like they did with Blue Exorsist, than doing a season 2, but the original anime already managed to be super memorable and people are already attached to that version of Ouran Host Club.I think the only thing in the manga that could be controversial in japan is Hikaru's and Khaoru's relationship, but I really don't think is that either,(Khaoru had very rare feelings for Hikaru in the manga), if It was they could take that out of the anime, or change It, no problem with the main story or events happening. It's difficult to pick up the continuity of the manga at the point Ouran anime finished. Anyway, I have hope that they will make a new anime, now that time has passed, and nostalgia is a factor in watching new versions of series, in general.
Ik this wasn’t the main point of ur comment, but I just… forgive me if I misinterpreted this, but it sounded like u were saying that kaoru was in love with Hikaru?? @@westerfrost3701 oh don’t get me wrong. I am too. What really gets me though is the whole unfairness of that situation if two actors were accused why did one only have to bear the brunt of it?
A bit late but regarding Tamaki's voice actor, I believe it is possible to have someone new to play him. Take Fruits Basket as an example. The character Momiji shares a similar trait to Tamaki. That being both are Hāfus, Momiji is Japanese-German while Tamaki is Japanese-French. In the 2001 version of Fruits Basket, Momiji was originally played by Kimberly Grant, but in the 2019 Reboot, he is now played by Mikaela Krantz most likely because they needed someone who could play a convincing German accent. So, since Tamaki is half Japanese and half French who lived in France until he was fourteen, he would have a notable French accent. So if we do get anything OHSHC-related it will most likely be a reboot and hopefully, they put more emphasis on Tamaki's French background and the dubbing team could hire someone who can do a French accent to play Tamaki. (Sadly, the only one I know who could do that is Michael Tatum but he plays Kyoka.)
I mean tbh, the dub thing won't be exactly a problem. Cuz although chaging the dub actor may cause backlash from og fans, but considering the context of the said va, its definitely for the better. I mean in one JP dub of an anime Anos Voligold's orignal va got replaced due to a cheating scandal and took a personal break. But in terms of s2, yeah I REALLY doubt it. Especially since his character arc is literally the final piece to the story's end. But don't get me wrong the original anime ending was beautiful, i love it. But I'd still take the airport scene over the bridge one...
I just do kinda wish they'd keep the original JP va's like with Ranma 1/2.... I love their performance, most especially since Haruhi's role saved her JP va's carrier in voice acting.... Also because Haruhi and Hikaru's vas are also married... Hikaru may have not gotten Haruhi, but at least their voices are married to each other.

Season 2? I’m more hoping for a reboot/remake that aims to be a bit more faithful to the source material, although probably adjust the more sus parts the series & replacing Tamaki’s dub VA.
