Honestly if he were a more serious shooter who isn't just knocking things around at the range (nothing wrong with that) that two liter bottle wouldn't have had any luck to begin with. Also the other part of the 'scout concept' is really having a high eye relief scope and a ching sling. as it sits in the video thats just a bolt action rifle with iron sights.
I was holding a Savage 11 in one of my local gun shops the day this was recorded. The lower price of this rifle verses the other scout rifles makes it doable in my limited budget.
Hold a Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle with the laminate stock and you will wonder why its priced the way it is against the Savage. Its night and day. That's why I ended up getting a Ruger

I just bought my first savage 308 about a month and a half ago or so. I must say I’m very happy and pleased with it. (Accuracy and shot) I now have a Lupold scope on it what another great investment for sure. Happy shooting to you!

I own one and absolutely love it. Yes, the stock has a bit of left over molded grill on it that easily rubs off. But it's accurate as hell and I love it.
I noticed that the parting line on the "Polymer" stock is not "clean". I have worked in the injection molding industry and it should have been removed during manufacturing. Attention to Detail!
+SlipKnotRicky Yeah I said the same thing and some dude tried to say they make quality rifles. They may make quality bolts, triggers and barrels, but the rest of it looks unfinished so I have doubts about the whole thing. They took the cheap route and did the 4 main steps, didn't go out of their way at all to make it look decent.
Ryan Laha How much do you think costs to sand off casting makes? Even if it was 100% mil-spec it wouldn't be $800. They put the stock in there as a hefty price, inflated to around 20% of the total cost, and at price it should be finished.
+Stapled Fish Can't speak to their current quality, but I have a model 110 in 25-06 from about ten years ago and it is fantastically accurate. The trigger is great too, but it has a wood stock so I don't know if their polymer stocks used to be better than this. Looking at this rifle, I think I'd rather have a Ruger Gunsite if I wanted a .308 scout rifle.
The Savage Accutrigger is superb, as is the out of the box accuracy of these rifles. People may not like the looks, but they are good value. I really think people who are quick to bad mouth them haven't had any real experience with them.
I realize this is an old video. This rifle sells for about $500 now. (2019) Mags are expensive $47 per. I wanted the Ruger but I’m not spending double for the same platform. Great buy.
My Long Range rig started life as a Savage model 12 in .308win. I was going to build a long range budget build. After $3800+ dollars it's not a budget build, lol. It's now a 6.5x47L. I had SSS flute the bolt, add a competition trigger set at 2#'s. Then they Timed and Trued the action, adding a SS McMillan 28" barrel. A Choate Varmint stock, Farrell 20moa mounts, 2 Harris bi-pods, along with a 6.5x20x50 LR/T Leupold w/varmint reticle... I've left out a number of things.. I know you don't like shoot long distance but I love the 1000 yrd+ shots, not real easy... and yes a .13" 100yrd group, with my hand-loads is fun... My family has hunted all my life, I'm 67 now. I took nearly 40 mule deer and 4 elk, we ate every last morsel of meat and enjoyed it all.... I have a number of handguns but long guns are my cup of tea, to each his own....
Not sure what I have but my Grandad gave me his Savage 30-06 for Christmas. The stock is black plastic and the barrel is stainless. It doesn't hold a magazine but that's fine. We've taken mule deer, coyote, and elk with it and I'm honored and pleased to have it. He gave me the Leupold scope on it too. Lucky lucky me!
My first gun was a Savage 10 FCP .308 for $700. and I must say it was well worth it. We've had tons of fun shooting it and it has surprising good accuracy for its price. I have no problem getting sub moa groupings which lets me have some fun going out to 600y
really enjoyed this review and would love to see more scout rifle reviews because this is something I like allot and try to collect. I prefer the non military ones just because of all the oddities that are embraced like the stock on this system you showed
Gotta reiterate...never seen Hickok miss so many shots, and we all know he's one of the best shots on youtube, with a wide variety of weapons. That says something about this rifle, i think. Savage - take note.
Everyone who commented on the casting burrs on the stock hit the nail on the head. How could that even be allowed to leave the factory looking like that. Other than that at least the video is high quality as usual : ) Thanks Hickok
+jmans56 peep sights.. looked like 50 yards... the camera brighten up the evening light which is darker than it looks in a video. He was very close however.
+Jack Leyva For sure, when John doesn't zoom in and gives us a shot of what the targets look like to Hickok I'm amazed how well he hits those lil buggers with iron sights.
Urgh, the casting marks (the burr?) on the stock are horrible looking. For $800 I'd appreciate somebody spending 15 minutes doing a bit of finishing on it.
+trefod Think you misunderstood. Its a rifle that is priced below 800usd. Something like 600-650 at buds. Now imo that "burr" is sad showing and reflects poorly upon Savage.
Impressive video, and thank you for taking the time to do it. It isn't often we get to see something in your hands that is just awkward for you. This is one of those times. You've said many times you aren't a rifle guy, have seen you work absolute magic with handguns at distances that aren't the norm, so we all know your skills are not in question. I intend to get one of these rifles, because my use is totally different than yours. Many have stated in the comments section this would not be good at long range, and I agree with their opinion. This is a 150-200 yard rifle, and it would be rare, in the heavy brush I hunt in, to get the chance at a shot at that distance. Where this rifle would shine is at close distances, in the .308 caliber would be very effective as a deer or hog gun for a one shot/maximum damage/drop them where they stand. Coupled with a 4x scout scope I can see it being very effective once it is dialed in, for those of us with diminished vision where optics make or break the weapon.
One of my brother's bought the Mod. 11 awhile back. To put it mildly, he loves it. It would be my guess that Savage puts the same workmanship into each of the rifles they manufacture. That said, my brother's rifle is a tack driver. I'm looking into buying one myself. Many years ago, I had a custom .243 Win caliber rifle made using a left hand Savage action. The bolt is the smoothest I've ever used.
Excellent video, Hickok45. Hopefully, everyone watched the entire video. At little after 19 minutes into the video, Hickok45 started ringing the distant rifle plate. ......... He made the adjustment, on where to hold the sights. Hickok45 said he had to hold at 7 o'clock on the plate. It's an excellent demonstration in shooting, by a skillful shooter. ....... Plus, that's a nice rifle for hunting; the scout rifle idea is a good idea.
I have myself a gunsite .308 ruger and I love the gun to death, probably my favorite. that being said, this rifle I have no doubt is a stout solid rifle, but that polymer stock looks like not a lot of love was put into it, my gunsite has the green laminate stock and is a real beauty. Keep up the great vids!
I have it’s daddy from the late 90’s. Flush magazine and without the muzzle brake. Great scout rifle with a long eye relief scope mounted forward of the bolt. Glad to see they’ve brought it back.
I'm just waiting for the bolt-action snobs to come in and tell hickok why he's such an evil person because he doesn't rack another round whilst looking down the sights.
+SonOfTheDawn515 I say do what you want. It is your rifle. Standing toe to toe with a bolt gun is not my idea of fun. Yet the technique can be practiced to a degree of success. It really depends on the bolt handle angle to make the throw arc short and low.
Having recently purchased a model 11 scout & putting a few rounds through it I've found it is a great shooting rifle, manageable recoil & able to get a fairly tight group with it at 100 yards.
I myself AM into precision shooting. I hunt a lot of small game, so being able to put a round down range on a squirrel or rabbit and hit in the head so you don't damage the meat, is important. I love your channel and watch you everyday. And you have a natural point of aim that most benchrest shooters I would die for. You never cease to amaze me with your body mechanics and your Kentucky windage. Happy new year Hickok.
Savage actions were ahead of their time. Their mags have always sucked though (in my experience). They should have made the scout that was compatible with AR mags.
One thing he's missing... You gotta give the bottom a good whap! Also you can load more cartridges while the mag is in the rifle. Just press down and they pop in. I think the stock feels like dollar store crap. And it's loud in the bush when branches or whatever scrape across it. WTF Savage?! I'm getting a Boyds thumbhole with adjustable cheek and LOP.
I love this! I just got the Savage 11vt in 308. Savage made it just for Dicks Sporting Goods. It has the Acutrigger, a Bushnell 4-12×40 scope, a Bull barrel, and a 4+1 removable magazine, and a three position safety. All in all a very sweet setup.
Its the front sight post. Its reaallly hard to pick it up because both front and rear are black lol i wish the front sight came with a white dot The rifle it self is very accurate.
Rifle looks accurate judging by bullet strikes. He is shooting a bit to the right, but his consistency is so good, he is just missing in the exact same spot repeatedly. I'd say it's the sights. Click or two to the left and he's all good. Drive on, Hickock 45!
hi... just wanted to say that hickok45 is an awesome shot and just full of useful knowledge! anyway... i have a question for anybody that would know! ive had a stroke on the right side (thank god im left handed) and i was looking for the buttstock support that flips 90 degrees or anything close that would give me a little extra support but ... no luck! there is one in the movie full metal jacket where private pyle is firing in the prone position with his M14. anyway i just wanted to say thank you and i hope we can see hickok45 for many more years to come!!! smoke some pot!!!
A very nice upgrade to the model 10 scout rifle. A new rifle from the basic Hog Hunter rifle. The adjustable cheek piece and the recoil pad up grade along with the three sling swivels make the stock much better. The detachable magazine makes it a quality package. Further the front sight is much better than the model 10. The muzzle break I am not sure however the threading is a plus. Thanks for the review.
I own a model 11 scout. Picked it up about 3 months ago and put a Burris 2-7 scout optic on it. It's a great rifle, have had no issues. My stock does not have any of the poor finish issues the one on display here does. Picked mine up for $630 total with tax.
I have an identical scout. I had trouble with the mag also. Didnt wanna seat all the way with a full mag. I just loaded 9 rds instead of 10 and that helped. Once the mag was broken in the problem subsided. Muzzle brake is extremly loud. Swapped mine for a standard AR flash hider
Get tired of military surplus rifles? Hickok, how could we get tired of those? In all seriousness though I think we're all happy no matter what firearms you show us. Also love the channel :)
I looked at the Ruger, Savage and Mossberg scout rifles. I settled on the Mossberg in 5.56, it is a fun gun to shoot. Easy to carry, accurate, Cooper had the right idea for a do it all rifle. And the Mossberg will accept AR mags, a bolt gun with 30 rounds in the box is a riot.
Mister Hickok i admire you as a Grand father figure. You certainly seem like a kind, decent man who has a deep passion for firearms. Please do some more videos about .30-06 bolt action rifles and such. Good job sir.
+frank Valente their just so expensive, my 1/2 ar500 12inch plate was $75 and id say that was on the cheaper side. probably around $200+ for a 18 inch gong
frank Valente yea thats true he would probably get his money's worth out of it. then again some sites have 3/8ths thick plates for very cheap, some full size silhouette's for under $110
I'm an eastern hunter, mainly white tail deer. My favorite rifles have always been lever action, 308 Browning, 3030 Winchester lever. They feel right to your hand. You cant kill a deer if your guns not in your hand. But my all time favorite is the old H and R single shot handirifle in the youth version, 243, 708, 308, doesn't matter. They are light, quick pointing, and the safest gun ever made. Too bad they're not making them anymore.
My "Scout" build is a Savage 110 "Scout" in .223 being rebarrelled in 300 HAM'R. Bill Wilson's 30 cal. development of the .223 brass is simply ballistically excellent. 30-30 Win. terminal ballistics out to about 250 yards is plenty of power with really mild recoil. For reloaders is uses much less powder than even a "skinny" 30-30 case. MOA accuracy with plenty of stopping power for deer, hogs, black bear, and 2 legged critters if that danger presented itself.
The Savage will definitely have the better trigger, but the finish of the stock goes to Ruger. I like the sights on the Savage better, but that one's purely subjective.
Hockock is the only guy I know of that cant hit a 2 liter from 75 yards with a rifle, but can pull out a Glock and hit the gong at 100 yards. The dude is incredible.
brayden hepworth DAMN! That's awesome. I spent WAY more than that for a .5MOA gun on factory loads. Sad face. Well, let me know if youre shooting little enough that you decide to sell it. LOL
I need another rifle like I need a hole in my head, but I'd love to have that one! Beautiful it ain't, but it sure looks tough. It would be a great truck gun.
Hickok just curious, you mention several times that you don't hunt. Are you against hunting or is it something that you have just never enjoyed? I love you videos and try to check your channel every day. You are my favorite TH-cam channel!
+Josh Jacobs I'm just too lazy to hunt; it's easier to "hunt" steel turkeys than to get up early and go through all the chore of preparing to hunt. Plus, I don't have to field dress these neat little iron turkeys. :-)
+hickok45 I'm the same way. I support hunters and the right to hunt. But 3 years as a butcher was enough to take away the desire to shoot and field dress anything!
I might also add that H and R made the lightest, easiest pointing, and safest Turkey gun. I had my 12 fitted with a special screw in choke. I've got two other tight choked Turkey killers, a Winchester 20 and a mossberg 12, but the gun I reach for is the old single shot H and R 12 gauge.
+amcluesent I agree. He seems to like the idea, but the slight quarks of this rifle are turning him off a bit. If he was going to spend some time with it, I bet he would warm up to it a bit. First date and all.
+Justin Gruwell It makes a lot of sense. If your a good shot and take the time required one shot is all you need. You should never ever blast a 308 at a dear or hog. Pistol scopes or scout scopes work well and are up to the 6x range. 200 yards or less would be a cake walk. Scout rifles are proven to be fast pointing and very effective.
+Justin Gruwell 6x is not good for long range? Where do you live? I am guessing on the grass plains? 6x is far too much for anything you will do in a forest like where I live. You can make a 600 meter shot with this rifle with a decent optic. If you are shooting at 1000 meters, then I would agree that this is not the best rifle for the job.For a 400 meter or less hog gun, I do not want a big and heavy rifle. It is better for a faster snap shot as well. That happens often in a stalking hog hunt.
Jesse Sisolack The bolt gun was originally a war gun. The draw to bolt guns are the simplicity. Many less moving parts than many semi autos. And as a rule a bolt gun will last many more years than an auto without repairs. All they did was shorten a rifle and make it easier to point and quicker on target. As for all these long range shots... The longest shot I have ever made was 225 yards in Tennessee on a hog with a 308. The rest have been 90% under 100 yards. And I have hunted in 7 states over the last 40 years. If you are a youngster with limited trigger time an auto seems perfect. But a bolt gun is nearly fool proof and can be cleaned in the field with less or no worries of losing a critical tiny part. Compare a 7mm mouser to an AR15. The AR has special AR tools just for cleaning. Aint no such thing as a mouser tool.
I've got a .22LR Savage it was only $150 and it is just the best little gopher gun ever, very accurate and I've never had any problems with jams or the magazine. My 2 brothers each have had the same gun, however, but theirs kept having problems with the casings getting stuck in the chamber after firing. We tried tons of different ammo and the same thing kept happening so it was probably a problem with the extractor.
I owned and shot many bolt actions rifles and savage is my favorite. My 270 shot as well as a friends Dakota Arms 270 very impressive for a rifle that cost 429.
The biggest mag problem I've had with mine was when I loaded all the rounds backwards, and tried to seat the mag backwards. Once I marked it with paint as to what was forward, and remember to rock it back and forth, the opposite of an AK, all was good and all 4 mags I have for mine function perfectly. It is actually a pretty reliable system, but is just so foreign to everything else I have. I also call shenanigans on Savage, that they designed a mag you can load 10 rounds into, backward.
I love my two Savage Rifles. My Mark II and Model 10 TR are dead accurate and more accurate than me 95% of the time. They shoot 1MOA at 100yd all day long
I'm in Australia picking mine up in 2 days and will be putting the same scope on mine ,, let me know how you go with it After watching this video I'm worried they are going to be rubbish Cheers
Hickok45: I'd love to see a video on the slide fire mechanism where the recoil of the gun makes it an automatic, but the gun itself is not an automatic. Thanks!, and I love your channel!!
+Gungeek I think I bought one of those in 308 at Laneco supermarket in the late 80's. Mine had "special purpose" on it and a distinguishable flashhider.
+phat tyre I think Targetpopper was talking about chargers, as in using 5 round stripper clips in a top down charger, like on an M14 or a 1903 Springfield.
I have an uncompensated 338 win mag from savage. Lightweight hunter with stainless barrel and fiberglass stock. I feel the stock flex every time I pull the trigger from how sharp the recoil is.
I hunt with a Savage M11 in .308 -- and it's one of the most accurate "hunting" rifles I've ever owned "out of the box" -- shoots between 3/4" MOA and 1" MOA depending my shooting/ammo. Worst I've seen it shoot was around 1.5" @ 100 with some cheap Remington cup and core bullets. More accurate than any Rem 700 I've owned, and cheaper too. Getting 3/4 moa out of the box with reloads for a gun that was only $550 is a great achievement by Savage. I don't care for their box magazine system but it works. Other than that it's been great to me. Took two Whitetails with it this year.
hickok45, I have been using savage for my entire life pretty much. I have a model 325C from around 1948 and I love it. Also have a model 340 which was its predecessor. Great old guns, shot many deer with them. Love the videos, all the best.
Is this a show model or something because some of it looks unfinished. It weld spotting that just been painted over (muzzle break) and they didn't even clean up the mold seam (top of the rear stock, bottom and top of the fore stock, right beside the bolt on both sides) You can see all of this from 6:46 to 7:30. Can't be a good sign if in less than a minute you can see all the sloppy work. I wouldn't trust this thing with my life.
+Stapled Fish the molded plastic stock isnt intended to save your life, at least as far as i know. Savages are accurate and well made, if you're looking for a nice wood stock buy one of their other models, or a weatherby. maybe it'll come with lipstick to match your purse
pierrotgodot Poor attention to detail on anything is a sign of a bad product. You wouldn't buy a new car with sloppy casting marks on the engine, or spotty, unclean welding on the frame. Sure, it'll run but what makes you so certain that it wouldn't snap a break line if there are so many problems with it already. Your argument is trying to make it sound feminine to want a quality product. So unless you can tell me there's a legitimate reason for skipping steps in production, I'll maybe believe how "well made" Savage makes their rifles. #rekt
Recently acquired a Savage Axis bolt gun in .30-06... and I think I'm hooked. Never saw myself as a 'bolt gun guy,' but now I'm thinking a Savage scout rifle would tick off a *lot* of previously unknown 'boxes' for me...
If anyone is looking at getting a Savage rifle I can tell you my experience. I bought a Savage 10 in 308 a few years ago for $400 (Walmart mislisted it as it was$750+ normally) and I have to say I love it. It may not have the aftermarket that a Remington 700 has but that's mainly because it doesn't really need it. It has every single thing you could ever want in its factory condition except the stock. I bought a Choate Ultimate SS stock that brought this rifle to around 12lbs but doesn't bother me. It's a tac driver, reliable as hell, stupid easy to maintain, and you can change the barrel and bolt face yourself in 10 minutes with one ten dollar tool (plus no go-go) and charge the caliber if you want. Mine unfortunately has a 4+1 round internal magazine and doesn't have barrel threads. I also added a full length rail because of a weird scope I had at one point.
That 3rd sling mount is for a 3 mount sling. It allows you to wrap the sling around your support arm and have stability from a standing position to make longer range shots.
I nominate Hickok for the first human to be cloned, I don't want to live in a world without him.
No2...after Al Bundy
Harry Hirsch
And of course we’d have someone like you floating around.
He has a clone named John 👍
Alex I like that. Really nice to have around!
Agree!
of course you would have a video of this gun...and every other gun I search for.
I know, right? Just accept it and enjoy the shooting.
Darvel Garcia Agreed. I enjoy his channel so much.
Except for High Standards....
Lol yea I won’t buy a gun that Hickok doesn’t have a video on
Lol the name though
That is the luckiest Two-liter bottle on the planet.
Honestly if he were a more serious shooter who isn't just knocking things around at the range (nothing wrong with that) that two liter bottle wouldn't have had any luck to begin with. Savage stocks have always been pretty low on the quality scale
+SlipKnotRicky Yeah I said the same thing and some dude tried to say they make quality rifles.
Anyone else love savage rifles?
Yes I like my savage a10 warthog
I'll have a 110BA the day I can afford it.
I have a savage 6.5 creedmoore I love it.
Me
Hell yeah
Not sure what I have but my Grandad gave me his Savage 30-06 for Christmas. The stock is black plastic and the barrel is stainless. It doesn't hold a magazine but that's fine. We've taken mule deer, coyote, and elk with it and I'm honored and pleased to have it. He gave me the Leupold scope on it too. Lucky lucky me!
I'll never give up my Savage 110e 30:06. Most accurate fun I have ever owned. I can out perform bench guns with it.
That's a BOLD statement. 😳
My 110BA setup would have you seeming like an amateur.
The rear sight unscrews to open up the wide ghost right sight. Thats probably all he had to do, but didn’twant to lose the small screw sight.
A small piece of white electrical tape on that front sight post will work well on a loaner. It peels off without any trouble.
Great vid!
try whiteout next time cheap easily touched up and stays longer than tape
Orange nail polish
Everyone who commented on the casting burrs on the stock hit the nail on the head. How could that even be allowed to leave the factory looking like that. Other than that at least the video is high quality as usual : ) Thanks Hickok
I've never seen Hickok miss a 2 liter before.... Wow
+jmans56 peep sights.. looked like 50 yards... the camera brighten up the evening light which is darker than it looks in a video. He was very close however.
+Jack Leyva For sure, when John doesn't zoom in and gives us a shot of what the targets look like to Hickok I'm amazed how well he hits those lil buggers with iron sights.
jmans56 he missed on purpose to make us feel better about ourselves.
....the sights are too small.I took it off and just use the front sights...
Sights suck
I have a bolt action Savage mk II in 22lr with the Accu-trigger and I have been extremely happy with it, and impressed with the quality for the price.
Urgh, the casting marks (the burr?) on the stock are horrible looking. For $800 I'd appreciate somebody spending 15 minutes doing a bit of finishing on it.
+trefod Called 'flashing' FYI
+trefod Well 800$ is not that much for a rifle, just take a look at the Tikka's and SAKO's. I guess they could do it better though but for 800, naah.
+trefod Think you misunderstood. Its a rifle that is priced below 800usd. Something like 600-650 at buds. Now imo that "burr" is sad showing and reflects poorly upon Savage.
+sergeantbigmac Ah, thanks. Tried to translate from Danish.
+alex louis Which is why it's surprising that they didn't just shave it off really quick, taking how easy it is.
I love Hickok's time travel skills. I wish I could go back to October.
Thanks for this video review! I've been looking at scout rifles for a while, and the Savage model seems to have a lot going for it.
Keep up the great vids!
pedro Fernandez pretty don't kill function does
imagine using a router and inserting your favorite wood types into it
I have it’s daddy from the late 90’s.
Youve seen his hands imagine trying to work the bolt inches from your face with hands like that
+Impossibear bwaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Standing with a bolt gun doesn't really lend itself to maintaining it being shouldered while clambering. I don't do it with my surplus bolt guns.
+SonOfTheDawn515 I say do what you want. It is your rifle. Standing toe to toe with a bolt gun is not my idea of fun. Yet the technique can be practiced to a degree of success. It really depends on the bolt handle angle to make the throw arc short and low.
+NecroBanana for bolt guns it is excusable... just not lever actions
Having recently purchased a model 11 scout & putting a few rounds through it I've found it is a great shooting rifle, manageable recoil & able to get a fairly tight group with it at 100 yards.
Love my little bolt action .22 perfect for the Australian hills!
Just bought the Steyr Scout and would love to see you review it. My brother has the Savage and loves it!
Been wanting a 308 in a Scout configuration for years! Love it!
Please test these .308 Rifles:
Remington 783
Ruger American Rifle
Savage Arms 11/111
Mossberg Patriot
Hawkeye is a lot better than American brother
this is why i like hickok45 he has no problem admitting he doesn't know everything
All in all a very sweet setup.
savage af
I really appreciate you doing these videos. I too am a rather large man and you show me how guns will look/work for me. Thank you, sincerely.
I've never seen Hickok miss so many targets.
Its the front sight post. Its reaallly hard to pick it up because both front and rear are black lol i wish the front sight came with a white dot
The rifle it self is very accurate.
Rifle looks accurate judging by bullet strikes. He is shooting a bit to the right, but his consistency is so good, he is just missing in the exact same spot repeatedly. I'd say it's the sights. Click or two to the left and he's all good. Drive on, Hickock 45!
I wanted an M14, but they got banned where I live. Saw this gun in my local store and instantly clicked with it. Probably going to buy it.
hi... just wanted to say that hickok45 is an awesome shot and just full of useful knowledge! anyway... i have a question for anybody that would know! ive had a stroke on the right side (thank god im left handed) and i was looking for the buttstock support that flips 90 degrees or anything close that would give me a little extra support but ... no luck! there is one in the movie full metal jacket where private pyle is firing in the prone position with his M14. anyway i just wanted to say thank you and i hope we can see hickok45 for many more years to come!!! smoke some pot!!!
Is it accurate while jumping?
+Phil Latio what the heck u gonna jump and shoot man?
+Ashwin Mohandas Think he was making a FPS joke
well well, who do we have here?.... a CS player? Nice.... i used to love playing CSGO
+Phil Latio at least until someone with an AWP sneaks up on you.
wakka wakka
I own a model 11 scout. Picked it up about 3 months ago and put a Burris 2-7 scout optic on it. It's a great rifle, have had no issues. My stock does not have any of the poor finish issues the one on display here does. Picked mine up for $630 total with tax.
You should test the henry all weather .45-70 lever action rifle .
God bless you and your family and have a blessed NEW YEAR!
Aye you too bröther
Mister Hickok i admire you as a Grand father figure. You certainly seem like a kind, decent man who has a deep passion for firearms. Please do some more videos about .30-06 bolt action rifles and such. Good job sir.
hickok you really need to get a gong that is hardend steel
+frank Valente their just so expensive, my 1/2 ar500 12inch plate was $75 and id say that was on the cheaper side. probably around $200+ for a 18 inch gong
Ya Ik but it be worth it to me. with how much he shoots. I wish i could shoot in my backyard
frank Valente yea thats true he would probably get his money's worth out of it. then again some sites have 3/8ths thick plates for very cheap, some full size silhouette's for under $110
I'm an eastern hunter, mainly white tail deer. Too bad they're not making them anymore.
when are we gonna see your review of the ruger precision rifle? assuming you can get your hands on one
I don't think Hickok is the type of shooter to really review that rifle and its intended purpose. Have to see if TiborasaurusRex gets one to review.
Savage scout vs ruger scout please do it Hickok
The Savage will definitely have the better trigger, but the finish of the stock goes to Ruger. I like the sights on the Savage better, but that one's purely subjective.
Awesome rifle in a scout configuration. Under $500 now brand new.
From Belgium…. Happy new year!
#Belgium!
Hockock is the only guy I know of that cant hit a 2 liter from 75 yards with a rifle, but can pull out a Glock and hit the gong at 100 yards. The dude is incredible.
I have a Savage Model 111 .300 win mag. Only $399 for it.
Great buy. Sighted it in? How's it shoot? .5MOA? 1 MOA?
+J Bullast got one to. Shoots a 1-.5 moa on a good day
+brayden hepworth That's not bad. That with factory ammo or hand-loads?
factory ammo, I forgot which brand haven't been shooting in awhile with it.
brayden hepworth DAMN! That's awesome. I spent WAY more than that for a .5MOA gun on factory loads. Sad face. Well, let me know if youre shooting little enough that you decide to sell it. LOL
I love how you really pick up the sound of the shot and the action it sounds great!
I need another rifle like I need a hole in my head, but I'd love to have that one! Beautiful it ain't, but it sure looks tough. It would be a great truck gun.
Did my old heart good on this last day of 2015 to see Hickok actually miss a shot. He's human!
No pro gun person would be against hunting.
+hickok45 I'm the same way. I support hunters and the right to hunt. But 3 years as a butcher was enough to take away the desire to shoot and field dress anything!
The Allied Powers that is whole-fully untrue. Why would you ever even think that?
Mike Merrill,I worked in a slaughter house for 22 years and I still love to hunt and process my own game...
Don't think Hickok likes that rifle.
+Naked Acres Yep. Pull the bolt and you're good to go.
Get your hands on the new Ruger precision rifle!
i have had one for 4 months i absolutely love it. it is so good
They're $680 on cabelas and cheaper elsewhere.
I love my two Savage Rifles. My Mark II and Model 10 TR are dead accurate and more accurate than me 95% of the time. They shoot 1MOA at 100yd all day long
Glad I got a Gunsite instead of waiting for this...
I just bought one from Buds, put a Vortex Crossfire II Scout Scope on it. Very nice. Thanks for all you do for us shooters.
I'm in Australia picking mine up in 2 days and will be putting the same scope on mine ,, let me know how you go with it
After watching this video I'm worried they are going to be rubbish
Cheers
hickok45, please do a review on the Steyr scout rifle.
Hickok45: I'd love to see a video on the slide fire mechanism where the recoil of the gun makes it an automatic, but the gun itself is not an automatic. Thanks!, and I love your channel!!
Kind of reminds me of the Spanish FR-8
+Gungeek I think I bought one of those in 308 at Laneco supermarket in the late 80's. Mine had "special purpose" on it and a distinguishable flashhider.
+Gungeek Same here.
I think if this rifle could use Nato 7.62x51 chargers then Savage would be on to something.
+phat tyre I think Targetpopper was talking about chargers, as in using 5 round stripper clips in a top down charger, like on an M14 or a 1903 Springfield.
phat tyre
read much lol?
I have an uncompensated 338 win mag from savage. Lightweight hunter with stainless barrel and fiberglass stock. I feel the stock flex every time I pull the trigger from how sharp the recoil is.
"Yep...its a .308"
I hunt with a Savage M11 in .308 -- and it's one of the most accurate "hunting" rifles I've ever owned "out of the box" -- shoots between 3/4" MOA and 1" MOA depending my shooting/ammo.
Can't fault a Savage especially with the accu-trigger
I love smoke.. Love cinder in the morning!.. 😂
Well, I love watching this guy!... Amazing marksmanship and awesome character
Ruger American Pistol please and thank you sir.
it's actually been confirmed? awesome
+Dillon Hughes Yes sir, it's on Rugers site now. Looks pretty sweet.
+Dillon Hughes Actually, there are already some out. I think you need some connections to get one as it is first production run.
hickok45, I have been using savage for my entire life pretty much. I have a model 325C from around 1948 and I love it. Also have a model 340 which was its predecessor. Great old guns, shot many deer with them. Love the videos, all the best.
TWO HUNDRED AND ELEVENTH!!!!!!
A Remington 7600 in 308 makes an awesome scout rifle.
+Stapled Fish
Yup. It's a Savage :(
+Stapled Fish the molded plastic stock isnt intended to save your life, at least as far as i know. Savages are accurate and well made, if you're looking for a nice wood stock buy one of their other models, or a weatherby. maybe it'll come with lipstick to match your purse
+pierrotgodot #rekt
pierrotgodot Poor attention to detail on anything is a sign of a bad product. #rekt
+Stapled Fish Touché
