CDFA Division of Measurement Standards

Kristin Macey, Director of the Division of Measurement Standards (DMS). The Division works closely with county sealers of weights and measures who, under the supervision and direction of the Secretary of Food and Agriculture, carry out the vast majority of weights and measures enforcement activities at the local level. The mission of DMS is to preserve the standards of weights and measures that protect consumers and businesses during commercial transactions. By maintaining uniform standards of measurement that are recognized in the U.S. and around the world, our Division provides accuracy, reliability, and stability, in the economy in California, throughout the United States, and globally.
