Is that 60 kilowatts the rear wheel power or the flywheel power? I know that the black carby 202 was rated at 85 flywheel kilowatts nett from the factory so if that's probably down from normal wear & tear. I can remember that car manufacturers in Australia rated their horsepower output in gross figures meaning that the red carby 202 engine was rated at 101 kilowatts when the nett figure was 66 kilowatts. So it is believable that Holdens reason for dropping the 253 V8 engine is because its power output wasn't much less than the EFI 202 engine (6 kilowatts less than that 202 at 100 kW nett) but I have been told that the 253 engine is better on fuel with a steady right foot. The fuel consumption of all of the 202 engines I think are all the same so I'm not sure why Holden claimed that their fuel consumption was similar to the 173 cubic inch six (25-26 miles per gallon) with the implementation of electronic spark timing in the mid 1980's. I've driven the EFI VK Commodore & its fuel economy was the same as the HQ Kingswood my dad used to drive. The best we got out of it was 20-21 miles per gallon on a highway trip or 18 miles per gallon on a combined cycle,it was thirsty !!!! When he bolted the 173 engine in,he got about 28 miles per gallon out of it when it was coupled to the trimatic auto box & 3.55:1 diff ratio.

I can’t believe you would thrash this vk, just because it’s a beater before you work it doesn’t mean you should fuck it putting it in reverse. Cmon guys respect the car a bit more.
How's about let's not and say we did... I don't know how much of a cross over there is. I personally think the MCM guys are chumps. I'm surprised Hotrod (Roadkill) magazine did anything with them. MCM is more for people who shop at Autobahn, Street Machine is more for people that shop at Summit Racing or VPW/Speed Pro/Rocket Industries. Two VERY different groups of people

my vk 202 nigga used to lock up the diff dropping the clutch mate, awesome burnout machine...not good for much else!
