'Coloureds' and Apartheid - Riaad Moosa Comedy

  • Here's another clip from back in the day! Talking about Apartheid once again...There was a category during Apartheid called "Coloured" which denoted mixed race. My grandfather was classified coloured, but had both Indian and Malay heritage. There was a broad variation in physical characteristics which made classification by the apartheid government a nightmare. They even had categories within categories...Glad those days are over...

@@richlisola1 hmm.. to be honest, most English speaking peoples from around the world are used to several accents. The SA accent is just one variant. But I think, and please correct me if I'm wrong, that American culture is so dominant and Americans often look inward for entertainment, that most are not exposed to so many world accents. I heard 72% of Americans don't have a passport? I guess a dominant culture becomes insular?

Or frame Iraq as behind 9/11 to prop up the pretext for invasion and when it was Saudies. You''re a conniving, scheming kind
With your long history of schemes and lies it's no surprise you have narrative which casts whites as victims. It's expected.

Ye much better of and the Afrikans and koisun people were doing just fine untill the Bantus came.

My wife is from Lenasia😂 and when I moved from cape to Jhb, I lived there for some years in the beginning of my marriage. I must say for a small community, they are very independent and built a nice community. Religious too.
I learned a lot from them, family unity in particular. The older generations were very humble and inspiring. Also very proud people and family orientated. I love that about them. I also observed that religion is largely responsible for that way of life because my maternal grandparents were very staunch Muslims. I've never been one to declare a religion based on my mixed race and cultural heritage but I have as a child frequented mosques almost daily with my grandfather. So I must admit it was my grounding because I continue to foster the moral foundation it obligated humankind to.
I guess it was easier for me to co-exist because my maternal grandmother was from India and my grandfather from Mauritius. My Nana and Nanie raised me most of my life - for those who don't know, Nana is grandfather and Nanie is grandmother in the Indian language. We lived in Surrey Estate, basically I was born there, then as a teen moved to Lenz. They both passed on and I miss many things about them. Oh! The good food for sure.
Anyway I'm not sure why I thought it necessary to reveal this but listening to your piece kinda raised nostalgia and I recognise one important learning from having lived with different race groups and through racial discrimination, that we all are guilty in some deeper way whether we admit it or not. The entire world is. People associate with cultures they were born in and find it hard to embrace ideological differences beyond their own. This pride is what's limiting all mankind from a common embrace because the mere thought of embrace seemingly requires a dropping of one's inherent knowing. We fear the unknown, the metaphorical 'darkside'. This was described perfectly in the Quran, surah Al-Kafirun "I will not worship that which you worhsip, to you your belief and to me mine" is the premise of that chapter.
Sadly we cannot drop our beliefs for the sake of onenism, "for verily mankind is on loss" is what it really espouses in the hope to compel conscious maturity toward a new domain of knowing.
    Someday ✌🏻

Nearly, because original funny but dark innuendo, has arrived at funny-hatred-with-a-smile. You know, Democrat smut. When you eventually do 'The Daily Show' stay away from identity, do people and everyday things.
