  • This video shows how to take limited data from an existing 80/20 aluminum extrusion frame image and determining what the components are, calculate sizes, and find and download the SolidWorks CAD files from the 80/20 website and re-construct the frame as an assembly in SolidWorks. This was an example I created to give students extra tools on how to research and build CADD projects from online web sources. You can check out the 80/20 CAD files from their website at 8020.net/tools-cad . You can actually import their entire SolidWorks parts CAD library into 3D Content Central in SolidWorks.

Thanks. Just didn't want any of these videos going to waste so I hope they help out anyone working with solid modelling (applies to other CAD programs also besides SolidWorks).

how did you get all of your models organized into folders? When downloaded, mine were all bunched into one massive folder. Thanks!

Sorry I don't check this channel that often (just for good CADD advice so it wouldn't go to waste). If I remember, there used to be a 80/20 download on their site that was specific to SolidWorks files and it had everything sorted (just insert into your part file storage spot on your drive and link it, I'd have to dig around to find that one again but you should be able to find it online). Hope that helps point you in the right direction.
