    Excellent description. I’ve been playing major/minor 6ths for 30 years by ear but every once in a while things would get out of wack. I decided I better get my theory straight. Up a third is down a 6th and vice versa. The key in the lock.

    Great lesson, I already saw others good lessons about sixths, but this was the best! Easy to learn, and practice.

    Nice Ray, this is a great lesson on 6ths and a really straightforward example of how to use them! Keep it up.

    Excellent lesson......thanks! Twenty years ago I somehow figured 6ths out on my own after hearing other players and sections in recordings for years. Just loved the sound of it it but had nobody to explain it. I was mostly just chord chasing with it but it sounds sweet. You've certainly given me a few more ideas to use this......thanks! This is also a great opportunity for players to learn the notes on the first and second strings and move these shapes with the chord changes!

    Ray, first time i've seen you, great presentation and concise explanation. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos, but, before I do, a request: please, please, please do a simple video on the right hand and how to use pick vs fingerstyle for sounding notes, either as chords, or 6th intervals or licks. You can't do magic with the left hand if the right hand isn't there to back it up! Thanks for the time and effort you put into helping others!

      Thanks for your comment Richard. So much of our tone/timbre is the result of what our right hand does yet I overlook the importance of the right hand all the time. In fact, in some of my videos I don't even show the right hand LOL! I think a video focusing on right-hand technique is very much in order. Thanks for the suggestion and for watching Richard! Be sure to subscribe so you'll know when the right-hand technique video comes out.

    I’m trying to grasp the concept of the E7-A scale centered around E tonality-thing. Does anybody have a link with an explanation of this concept?

    • @RayPlaysGuitar
      @RayPlaysGuitar  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's the notes of an a major scale: A, B, C#, D, E, F#, G#
      but starting on E (or centered around E) : E, F#, G#, A, B, C#, D
      The resulting scale is E myxolydian and will sound like an E major scale but with a flatted 7th note (D natural)
      Does this help at all?

    Hey Ray, I like the sound you get. What pedals are you using? Is that reverb and delay. I'd love to hear or see your set-up. What pedals at what setting through what amp.

    • @RayPlaysGuitar
      @RayPlaysGuitar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment. I've had a few requests for a "rig-rundown", so I'll be making that video soon. In this video I was using my main setup as of late - CP Thornton HTL guitar into an HX Effects into my Suhr Badger 30 amp utilizing the 4-cable method. For this video I used an Heir Apparent (Price of Tone) set more on the clean side with a touch of breakup, and just a little analog delay in the effects loop, that's it. But I'll do a full in-depth video on my rig, how I run it, and specific effect and amp settings. Be sure to subscribe so you'll know when that video come out. Thanks for watching Mr. Rudolph!
