I asked my friend who works during the Knotts Scary Farm time and he said the reason the bags policy is so strict around that time is because sometimes people will manage to get things past metal detectors, etc. etc. and its very dangerous for the actors if someone manages to get a gun or knife past those and if the scare actors decide to scare someone who has a pretty big bag (capable of carrying a pistol or protective knife), they could get seriously injured (obviously) and they make the bag sizes so small to the point where you can barely put anything in them. I honestly think it would be pretty hard to get a pistol past a metal detector, but it's just what he said.
