Thank you Selema and Bomb Hole for this listen - blown away! Everyone needs to take sometime to hear this, Inspo, knowledge, laughs, insight, history, motivation!
Probably my favorite episode yet. I wasn’t able to board for about 5 years due to a severe head injury. I am finally cleared this season and my dad and I are taking a trip to Canada to celebrate. That go pro would sure be nice to have 😉😉😉 In all seriousness this podcast helped a lot during my recovery, so thank you!!
"Learning how to fucking fall down and get back up, that changes your life" Hard to say it better than that. The voice of my childhood is truly a voice for our culture. We all know that Selema's face will also be on the mountain range of snowboarding's Rushmore. One of the top episodes so far hands down. Thanks Bombhole and Selema
Every time he does a podcast or interview like this I’m always amazed. I remember growing up watching him commentating and even the Daily 10. The stories about his dad, about his life, his views and knowledge about really anything. Just who he is in general-just wow. One person I’d love to meet and have a conversation like this. Truly a legend and in a class all of his own 🔥❤️
I need to come clean after watching this: I tought he was an outsider hired by ESPN. I was wrong. This was a great podcast. Keep the older dogs coming in the booth, they have great stories to tell.
Wow, what an installment to the BombHole lexicon. I could listen to another 3 1/2 hours of this man's stories. What a wordsmith, what an orator. Thanks so much Salema, and thank you BombHole!
I came here from The People’s Party Interview and have been a fan of the channel ever since, I’ve literally watched this interview 4 times Shout Out to Salema… South Africa F’s with all you are big time!!! Bo-Masekela Ba Ho Shebe❤
Simply brilliant !!! Always has been :) Thanks Selema for being an iconic voice for "the thing/shred" for so many decades, but more so for being a powerful voice for people that look like us that also love "the thing/shred." Real legend!
Fantastic episode. One of the best so far. One quick look at some of the comments on this video proves Selema's point on the state of structural racism and prejudice in this country. Some people just can't handle their world view being turned upside down. As his father Hugh would say, it's sad. On a separate but related note, I want to know who that shaper is and the man who hassled him at the beach. They'll never get a cent from me. Lastly, apparently people don't like Ipod... I'm curious if there's more to that story.
Always thought Selema was rad just listening to him announce but now i have so much respect for the man! what a story teller! Loved every second of this one
Thank you Selema! He is the voice of my childhood and probably has a roll in why i snowboard. Its so sick to hear your story and find out you are even more of a legend than i though! The bomb hole is doing everything for snowboarding right now, thanks boys!
Need that GoPro! I’ve got 3 little daughters that I’m going to be taking onto the mountain to learn to board this year. Having this would allow me record these memories forever! Also, Selema, one of the best interviews ever!
Multiple times I thought 'this is the best ep yet' and then it gets better. Wow! I think Sal's story is also interesting and accessible for those outside of our world too. The good here comes from his reflection and the advice to move from tolerance to acceptance to embrace. As with all Eps I wish the lads dug a bit deeper into what's not yet or implied, sometimes I yearn for the gossip and name dropping or controversy, but other times there are just conflicting stories that need clearing like how Sal got over the pain of not seeing his dad for years as a kid to go on and idolise him. Thanks Sal, thanks bombhole.
Easily Top 3! Story telling second to none, such an interesting life he has lived. And a unique perspective that this industry needs to hear. Thanks bombhole boys
I remember watching you as a kid Selema and honestly thought you had a twin brother, one that did purely x games skateboarding and the other that did x games snowboarding. It blew my mind that one person could be so well versed to be in both industries! I'd love the gopro to get videos of my son about to go to his first mountain this season. Love you always bombhole!
Great episode fellas! Could listen to him tell stories for ever. We're spectating the first Frozen Rush at Sunday River Maine. Sal's walking by up the slope and I yell out "Sal! We got a Doobie!" He looks over and grins like what's up and keeps moving. My buddies and I still laugh about it.
Super episode with Selema! Such an icon and a pleasure to listen to his voice. When he’s commentating it just feels like he’s saying whatever he really feels and just lets it out. Would have liked to have heard Selema’s take on Terje, being on Burton’s Board and all and representing the culture of snowboarding.
I'd LOVE to snag a gopro for my 2 boys as they get their first boards this Christmas!! Selema on this podcast was my Christmas wish. You guys are SO awesome!! 🎄
What a legend! I could use the GoPro to document and either confirm/deny the shade that gets thrown at CO from the snowboard community, as I'm moving from the Tahoe area to Rado in the next few months.
Bang-on with Grendy making the Doc Emrick comparison with Selema. Growing up watching X-Games, Selema MADE IT what it was to me. Any broadcast becomes 1000% more legit when Selema is on the team.
Heck of a show. Selema is such a legend in action sports - so many great moments in this episode (name change, imitating his dad). Pivoting for a shameless ask: I’d love that GoPro because we’re taking our first family snowboarding trip to Utah in Feb. Would love to be charging with our munchkins getting footy!
great show with Selema, I have always wondered about his past and evolution in snowboarding.... So sick is Dads journey and him taking all that in. I love listening to fela kuti and that time, gets me thinking... I wonder if I heard his dads work and have no idea. Talking gopro 10.... love to be a hero that could make marty stouffer "wild america" movies about finding Jeff goldblum in the new studio, buzzing around landing on faces, cans, and lenses. long live Goldblum.
Thank you Selema and Bomb Hole for another killer episode. Incredible to hear his stories and remember the times watching XGames when I was younger. I would love to have one of those new GoPros to stack some footy on the hill this season and get some clips racing autocross or on scenic drives next summer.
Selema, I hope you come back to Salt Lake so I can yell your name in the lift line. Thanks for everything you've brought to action sports. ALSO, it took me until right now to realize Hugh Masekela released the song Riot, which Earl Sweatshirt sampled and led me to the original probably a year ago. It's an awesome song and now I'll think of this dynamic father-son duo when I hear it. Much love.
What an incredible episode! I'm now pretty hooked on Alekesam! I think I should have a Gopro 10 because I started a youtube channel this year and just dropped 2K on camera repairs so I am currently out of commish. Thanks for creating such an incredible podcast Chris and E-Stone!
Great work as always! The Bombhole is all the things I love about snowboarding culture. Ps. that GoPro would make a great addition to my trips in the backcountry with my gals. It's not just about those big turns in pow but also learning together and it would be great have a way document our journeys together.
As a yoga teacher who snowboards, I believe the perfect stance for each rider should be individual and unique. Depending on the orientation of your hip sockets, torsion and length of your upper and lower leg bones etc This will ultimately determine the Goldie Locks position of where the riders toes are pointed and how wide the stance is for it to be just right and most responsive. Definitely going to need a GOPRO 10 to make an instructional video on this!
And, my last go pro was the first one to hit the market, sadly it is outdated. My Da Vince Resolve editing program would be so happy. Thumbs up from Hood River .
Man, I've never actually had a GoPro, and getting one from y'all would be legendary. I watch every episode at work as soon as it drops, and love what you guys have done for the industry, so you know I would have to flex on all my homies when we ride that the Bomhole plugged the camera! I would be beyond stoked and honored. I have a little Garmin action cam from like 5 years ago but it's getting so old now that is just doesn't hold up to today's standards, so I don't feel motivated to use it anymore :( Would love to be able to donate that camera or something once it's replaced Peace and love boys!
Man sal why didn’t you lay down your resume in the early 90s so we would have known you were from the industry!! I always wondered how you came about and I am stoked to hear you were one of us. Amazing interview👊
The Go Pro would be awesome my buddy and I are going to shoot some footie for my buddies you tube channel he's trying to grow it times are hard for live music and musicians in general. My Go Pro and all my sd cards burned in my house so we're out an 8 already, let alone my big camera. We have a bit from last year but a 10 old be amazing with the iso and low light let alone cloud accessible! Thanks bomb hole. Thanks Selema for spreading the truth, Love!
Dude! I didn’t know you helped create the dopest clothing company of all time, A#…. I miss those ads in skate/snow magazine… the logo’s, the design. Ahhh nostalgia!
Because I’m somewhat new to snowboarding even though… I first snowboarded when I was 16 at wilmot mountain WI the closest to Chicago.. got back into it after as an Adult … because adults have to make money.. so it helped me get into bigger mountain riding like Utah and Colorado.. but unfortunately I still can’t afford to take trips more often. Till I’m able to move somewhere close to a nice mountain. So why I think I deserve a Go pro. Because I’m also Brazilian an Afro Latino… so my goal is to have a platform for my videos ( obv TH-cam) to showcase my progress as 30yr old transitioning from skateboarding to snowboarding ( skating can be a bit more physically demanding and adults have to work so I want to prevent getting hurt as much as possible) and as Salema was talking about it… wanting to give more access to people. I’m front the east coast of Brazil. I’ve never surfed but I love snowboarding. anybody can do this.. I grew up skateboarding but when living in the United States I grew up around black American kids and I was called white boy for doing the thing I liked. Nothing is wrong with being white off course. but I’m proud of all my Mut/Africaness roots and I like to express that in anything I do … I’ll love skateboarding till the death of me But snowboarding is what brings me peace and helps me feel so alive.. I’m sure I’m late for the giveaway … but it still felt t good to say the things I did.
First off I am a big fan of Selema, it was really cool to hear his story. I have really taken it for granted seeing him be the voice of the xgames for all these years, it was cool to see the person he is. Also I think I should have the Go Pro because my wife and I are having twins boys in January, we also have a 2 year old daughter, having the go pro would give us the ability to capture a lot of the stuff we get up to to create memory's for the kids. Also I already have a snowboard for my daughter, she loves to be pulled around the house on it, its gonna snow any day now and I am looking forward to playing with her in the snow on it!
THANK YOU BOMB HOLE!!! Lovely from start to finish, totally insightful and inspiring to hear Selema’s stories! LEGEND. 💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣💣 Hero 10: literally the last thing missing on my JAPOW 21/22 shred kit list.😅 Down to be the rag doll stabilisation test subject 🙋🏻♂️💣😂🙇🏻♂️
Hey fellas, loved the episode! I could 100% use a GoPro, I'm in the process of starting up my own brand. We are making Eco friendly wax in the kitchen and tuning boards and skis out of the garage. Voice of a generation right here
👑
This man is an Icon of the action sports world.
The Biggest of Big Dogs! Top 3 episodes hands down.
🙌🏼
This man loves the shred! Love how he committed himself to snowboarding.
I am 30 minutes in, and this man's stories are on another level. Insane. Love you all!
Much love
Thank you Selema and Bomb Hole for this listen - blown away! Everyone needs to take sometime to hear this, Inspo, knowledge, laughs, insight, history, motivation!
Probably my favorite episode yet.
I wasn’t able to board for about 5 years due to a severe head injury. I am finally cleared this season and my dad and I are taking a trip to Canada to celebrate. That go pro would sure be nice to have 😉😉😉

One of my favorite humans, i've never met. Love his perspective on life. Great episode guys.
Much love
There has been so many heavy episodes thus far, but this one takes the cake to me in terms of the gravity and nostalgia
Every time he does a podcast or interview like this I’m always amazed. I remember growing up watching him commentating and even the Daily 10. I came here from the People's Party and man this is gold. His immitation of bra Hugh's voice is spot on. Much respect from SA to Selema.
Bought my son a trumpet to learn to play just because of my love for Hugh Masekela. Respect. RIP legend.
I need to come clean after watching this: I tought he was an outsider hired by ESPN. I was wrong. This was a great podcast. Keep the older dogs coming in the booth, they have great stories to tell.
Selema giving me chills on multiple occasions during this interview! God Damn I love snowboarding!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow, what an installment to the BombHole lexicon. I could listen to another 3 1/2 hours of this man's stories. What a wordsmith, what an orator. Thanks so much Salema, and thank you BombHole!

Shout Out to Salema… South Africa F’s with all you are big time!!!
Bo-Masekela Ba Ho Shebe❤
So many good episodes but this is by far and away the best one yet. Selema is a King and snowboarding is lucky to have him representing us.
Simply brilliant !!! Always has been :)
Thanks Selema for being an iconic voice for "the thing/shred" for so many decades, but more so for being a powerful voice for people that look like us that also love "the thing/shred."
Real legend!
"Paul Simon you God damn Jedi you" needs to be on a t-shirt
diamonds on the soul of her shoes :)
1000%
Thank you for having Selema! I love hearing his stories! Thank You, Selema Masekela!
Learned a lot about Selema. Great story teller, and a voice of a generation. Heavy episode, #81 is one for the books.
“Right now is always the best” - miss that mentality.
Awesome episode, I learned a lot about a man I’ve listened to for 20 + years. Cheers
Fantastic episode. One of the best so far. One quick look at some of the comments on this video proves Selema's point on the state of structural racism and prejudice in this country. Some people just can't handle their world view being turned upside down. As his father Hugh would say, it's sad. We want names
Am also curious about the IPod situation

Awesome episode!! You guys killed it! I loved watching Selema on Tony Hawk's skatepark tour years ago!!
Easily Top 3! Story telling second to none, such an interesting life he has lived. And a unique perspective that this industry needs to hear. Thanks bombhole boys

Selema, You have so much wisdom. This has been a insightful episode, one that I’ll play back a couple times. Stay blessed!

What an episode. Have always been inspired by Selema. Absolutely love Jose response to Ellis’ question.
Immediately paused to play The Boy's Doin It. BANGER for sure, Selema!

Gentlemen,
Another exceptional interview this one. Good work.

I've been watching bombhole for a while but this is the first episode I actually finished. Took me 2 days, at 1.75x speed but worth every second!
RIP Ken Block. Random listen for today, but Selema had some great words about the legend.

So many amazing stories! Sidebar, I would love the new GoPro 10 to make sweet videos of snowboarding, adventures and more importantly, my dogs :)
Awesome to hear his story. Another great human

Solid gold, what an inspiring human and amazing episode!
Stoked to grab one of those Go Pros!!! Moving to Sun Valley, Idaho for the season from New Mexico! Where my go pro got stolen at a Smiths 😂😭😞

I could listen to this man talk for a week straight
Sooothing
This is a legendary interview
Such a fan o Selema! Legend is an understatment

Hey fellas, loved the episode! I could 100% use a GoPro, I'm in the process of starting up my own brand. We are making Eco friendly wax in the kitchen and tuning boards and skis out of the garage. We haven't had the chance to stack footy yet. But would love to get out and get after it this season. Oh and if you're ever in Park City and need a fresh tune halla atch ya boy.
