I love this! You should definitely do more of these if you would like. You're such a good teacher and you explain everything really well. Maybe you could do one on how to get your horse to come to you sideways (like what you would do when you want to mount via a mounting block). I loved it, thank you so so much! I find that it is difficult to motivate my horse when training him to do a 'trick' and he is actually a little afraid/dislikes the long whip but it is difficult to give signals without it. I guess he has an association with the whip in a traditional sense and associates it with being asked to move forward and away rather than understanding the tapping on the legs means something different. Treats don't even motivate him, they mainly distract him tbh haha but none the less, I would love more videos like this please!

Thank you for this, I was looking for some basic trick training for my horse and getting her to stretch would be great. My barn doesn’t like me to give too many treats but my girl loves a good carrot. And will do anything for one.

Yes you can choose what ever you want to feed. I use low sugar mineral pellets, one little piece at the time! To minimize the amount of food the horses get!

My horse just keeps walking forward, she doesnt stand still with her hind legs😐 what should i try to keep her hind legs in place?

You have to make sure the standing still is confirmed, always stands still when you say so, then practise with the pole between the hind and frontlegs and from there carefully try to get a response on the frontlegs, reward every step she does ONLY when the hindlegs stay in place/not move. You really need to focus on all four to be able to reward at the right moment/guide your horse through. Also make sure your horse can properly lift the feet on que!

How do you start liberty training an older horse, for example i have a 20 something rescue mare i would love to work liberty with! Also a 10 year old nose to butt stable mare we rescued that doesnt understand riding much but follows like a little puppy and may be more receptive to this training

Exacrly the same as any other horse, but its super hard to explain through a short comment. Liberty is understanding horse language as a human, usually tricks and such aren’t that difficult to figure out but understanding signals, body posture etc is. Ears back can mean like 5 things, just as ears forward do, those things. What helped me yeaaaars ago was watching wild horse docu’s (Cloud stallion of the.... something) and re-watching those. Every time noticing more or different things. Liberty but mostly language can be learned best from A HORSE - truely. ❤️ But what helps is having someone with you that can translate as you learn.

And I've had her over 3 years and we have ridden tackless a little bit, i think the problem I've found most is even with her supplements I can tell her joints don't flex as well as my other horses and so im trying to find things like this to help stretch her muscles and keep her moving comfortably!
