This song came on at a BBQ place my late husband and I were eating at. He had just begun dealing with his cancer. Been 10 years since he passed and this song still gets to me.
He wrote it about his father, the Philadelphia Phillies pitcher. They were estranged, and were getting in contact. They patched it up and the result was that he died of a brain tumour.
RIP Tugger 🕊 # 45 forever. Living the 1st 30yrs of my life outside Philly, Tug McGraw went from being a Phillies Legend to that cool, fun loving Uncle that also happened to be a baseball legend when he transitioned to broadcast & sports reporting. As a teen, I met Tug at a celebrity pro-am golf tournament a friend's dad was participating. After following Tug from hole to hole unsuccessfully trying to get an autograph, I went over to the tent for lunch. Tug came in a few minutes later for lunch as well & sat at my table. As a teen I was 🤯 WOW! Tug didn't disappoint, he was kind, cheerful, charming, & absolutely hilarious.
His father was Tug McGraw Out of Philly where he played Baseball 2004 he passed away Tim McGraw's finally got to meet his father and then things turned differently the song he did not write but the message is very clear Live Like You Were Dying speak softly Love More more messages and that song than you'll ever know God bless peace be with you much love and respect your birthday's coming up
I have such a happy memory of this song. When my nephew was ten and loved to sing. He did this for a 5th grade talent show. Wore the black hat and everything. He had a little trouble with the first verse but after he got through the chorus he nailed the rest.
I love you Jamal, I think you're really a country boy at heart❣️😊 Country music is great, thanks for reminding me of a beautiful song I had forgotten about for so long. Happy Independence Day 🎆 ✝️🌿🐴 ❣️🇺🇸
This song came out when my father was dying of pancreatic cancer. The beginning, looking at the X-rays!! Can't even imagine what my dad thought at that moment.😭
This song had been out for awhile but came on the day I left the hospital after finding out my dad had cancer and there was nothing they could do. My world just fell apart when I walked in his room at the hospital that day he was sitting there with his hand on his stomach and told us he has cancer. I can’t imagine what he must of thought hearing that news either
Tim did not know his father was baseball legend Tug McGraw until he was 11 years old. Funny thing is, Tug's team and Tug himself were Tim's favorites. Tug denied him at first but they finally built a relationship and then he lost his Dad in 2004.
So good to have you doing music again! I like most country music and i've noticed that a lot more people are discovering it and liking it - to their surprise. Thank you for sharing. God bless you
Tim Mcgraw brought down the walls I had put up around country music. I didnt WANT to like it but it spoke to me and eventually I couldnt lie to myself any longer.
His dad was a Philadelphia Philies baseball pitcher. He didn't know it until later in life . His father was diagnosed with brain cancer and he was able to repair the pain and lost love with his father before he passed ...
You should read about his finding out his biological dad became the relief pitcher for the New York Mets, and Philadelphia Phillies. Sad at first, but rewarding.
Tim is the goat of country 🐐🐐 Up there with Johnny,Willie,Garth,Alan,Reba,Faith, and etc lol My mom passed away 1-18-19 I took 6 months off Life. Maybe Dollie or Elvis ..Rock and Roll County
THERE IT IS!!! The key to happiness. "I gave forgiveness I'd been denying." To be forgiven we must learn to forgive. How can any of us be forgiven if we know not how to forgive? Is is written, "Father forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who have trespassed against us". Again, 'forgive us as we forgive'. If we cannot forgive, we cannot be forgiven. I love the message in this video by the way. Thank you for sharing with us.
i work retail, o 3:10 ne of my favorite customers is a Vietnam vet, paratrooper. i tell him all the time when thy give me that news, he is going to be my first call to watch me jump out of a perfectly good plane.. his eyes light up and he laughs.,
I don't know if you even know what this song is all about.. Tim's dad was "Tug" McGraw. He died of brain cancer in 2004 after retiring from Major League Baseball. The song is a tribute to his dad and that's what the lyrics are all about.. There's nothing funny about the song or lyrics whatsoever.. Tug grew up and played baseball in my hometown in Cali. He dated my aunt while in High School. I used to see him as a little tike when he would come over to my grandmothers house in the early 1960's, before he was drafted by the NY Mets. Those home video shots that you are watching of him as a young teenager goofing around were taken at his childhood home on Carolina Street in Vallejo, CA... RIP Tugger!

This song is about his father that died several years ago. His father was a pro baseball player and never there for Tim and his mom.😢
Tim forgave his dad before he died. RIP Tuc McGraw😊
This was popular when my husband was dying of pancreatic cancer. Left me in tears every time i heard it. Just found out 18 yrs later it still does.😢

You need to give TOBY KEITH a try
He wrote it about his father, the Philadelphia Phillies pitcher. They were estranged, and were getting in contact. They patched it up and the result was that he died of a brain tumour.
Probably always will. I used to turn songs off that made me think of passed away loved ones. Now I just leave on and water up a little.
Ive never been a huge Country music fan, but this song makes me cry every damn time.

As a European, someone I really like just introduced me to this song the other week, so it has a bit more than another special meaning to me now
Tim has had staying power by selecting songs that were well written. So much better than most of today's country, IMO. Saw him in concert in the 90s.
I have such a happy memory of this song. When my nephew was ten and loved to sing. He did this for a 5th grade talent show. Wore the black hat and everything. He had a little trouble with the first verse but after he got through the chorus he nailed the rest.
Tim is Tug Mcgraws son. He was a famous major league pitcher who got cancer.
I love you Jamal, I think you're really a country boy at heart❣️😊
Country music is great, thanks for reminding me of a beautiful song I had forgotten about for so long.
Happy Independence Day 🎆
✝️🌿🐴 ❣️🇺🇸
That chorus is just a next level feeling and hit
Love this song. And it's message.
The messages is that no one is going to work tomorrow to serve some self-centered cat their coffee milkshake.
Awesome! Let's all embrace it!
Not a huge fan of Country Music but always liked this song 😊
My son was diagnosed with cancer at the end of March 2023 and he turned 42 two days ago July 6 prayers

You would really enjoy Tim McGraw with Blanco Brown “Don’t take the girl”. Great song with a sweet story from Blanco.
MUCH LOVE! Your content crosses many lines. Big fan!
I love this one & I also love 'Humble & Kind'. The song & the video are fabulous.
Love your picks today. I love rock and roll but country has some great stories. Keep up the great work.
This song is so great
Brings tears every damn time.
Three chords & the truth is exactly what real country music is all about 🤠💕
We are so proud that he’s from the state of Louisiana. We just love him here.

Excellent! Thank you
This is Tim McGraw's best song!!
I went whale watching on my uncles boat. The most beautiful thing I ever saw really makes you feel small and humble in this world.
My friend you are much safer sky diving, than riding a bull named Fu-Man-shu!
Tim is the goat of country 🐐🐐 Up there with Johnny,Willie,Garth,Alan,Reba,Faith, and etc lol

Great song and words that ring true! But I'm with you, I'll find something else other than sky diving😂 Happy 4th!🇺🇸

His dad Tug played minor legue baseball from my hometown Jacksonville FL. Sadly he passed in 2004.

I’m right there with you brother, I may fly to Planes, but I would never jump out of them
Like you say brother. Be a good human. Now and don't wait until you're dying
❤❤❤
Shouldn't we all be living like we were dying? I mean, no one gets out of this world alive.
Stage 3, lung adenocarcinoma.
I can personally tell you...
They nailed it.
Thomas Sowell, Candace Owens, country music. Anyone seeing a pattern here? “The Keep Right Wingers Subscribed” movement is alive and well
1883 -Tim and his ever-so-beautiful wife Faith Hill
When small-town boy Timmy Smith was 12 he found his birth certificate and it said his father was World Series-winning pitcher Tug McGraw
Favorite TM video. Love it

Can’t wait for you to get into some Jason Isbell.
So basically, just be a good human :-)
Tim's dad was a relief pitcher for the 69 Mets and 80 Philles. Two rings, 1100 strike outs. Died of brain cancer in 2004
He died in 2004, not long after he and Tim actually met. He's a legend in Philly.
Love your videos. Please find that rap song that is similar...

Yep, there is absolutely no reason, other than being in the military, to jump out of an airplane if the engines are working and it's not on fire...
That would definitely end capitalism.
If capitalism is so bad, why don't all the migrant caravans head to Venezuela instead of the US?
He’s singing about his father who never wanted him. His father was a professional baseball pitcher
And died of cancer
I’m right there with you brother, I may fly Planes, but I would never jump out of them
