funnily enough, i can't imagine hearing "please subscribe" actually do anything? to anyone? i watch a video, i like the content/the person making it, i press the button. done. i can't imagine liking the content, wanting to subscribe and somehow forgetting it (?!). and it goes without saying that if i don't want to follow that person - being asked to won't work.
