Man… growing up in the 80’s, m father bought me a tiny radio, while my boy, Darnell, got the big Lasonic. I was ashamed of that tiny Aiwa😅. Now I just got me a Sharp GF-777 today and a JVC M70 yesterday. As old as the are, they still knock and are totally functional. I love them. I’m about to go buy some tapes from Amoeba records out here in L.A. When people see them, they are shocked. The kids don’t have the pleasure of buying them in this time because they are not made. Thanx for being here so we can share our stories
Awesome. Got about 50 boomboxes myself. Jvc m90. M80. M70. Panasonic rx 5350. Rx 7700 rx 7000. Aiwa cs 880. Plus way more. Love them. Takes me back to a simpler time. U could not have these today with people being offended or probably get your box stolen..
i wish i had some pictures from the early 80s, in my neighborhood everybody had a boom box ,we would hang in the park or go to the beach on the bus usually whoever rode on the handle bars on your bike held the boom box ,i grew up in LA, graduated high school in 1985
I didn't think there were any boomboxes before 1985, I thought they were all jam boxes, being tall and flat. But then LA is a long way from central Ohio
My collection has reached to over 100, but it was hard getting people to volunteer to display their collections. I thought it was a great idea but most of the people i've come across in these years are from a older generation, and like to remain private. I received tons of photos but no one wants to submit a video or be filmed. I'm currently working on a documentary of my journey with my boomboxes. hopefully it will inspire others. Thanks for checking back on it.! It'a still a work in progress. #BOX MAN
I know someone selling two JVC RC-M70’s. Both in good condition. They were made in 1980. They still knock. Hit me up if interested. He wants $700 for one and the other a little more. They are worth it

This was years ago. I didn't get the participation I wanted. Most collectors I came across were camera shy. I wish they weren't. Could of been great. My collection is at 100+ maybe I should just do a documentary on me. Lol
@@Cruisingthrulife Oh I see. Wow that's a lot of boomboxes. FYI there are boombox meets out here in Cali once or twice a year. Maybe you could shoot a part of your documentary in one of the meets. I'm sure the guys would love to do that cause they are serious collectors too.

Yo! check my channel for some videos I put together of my fav boxes, some I have or recently bought since. Also search "jam box" on Flickr, a photo site. So my story is like as a young girl I didn't really have a way to escape two things. My parent's smoking, and my parents country music, both were torture and I still struggle with people smoking like my downstairs neighbor at this apartment, people at the entrance of stores and gas stations. But at some point I got a jam box for x-mas and was able to escape my parent's country music and venture out into my own tastes in music. It was a low end JCPenney stereo jam box, small but it did the job at the time. Single cassette that could record from the radio or live. I did alot of mixing and splicing of short clips from advertisements and songs to put out funny stuff. As a kid, having that was a big deal for me even though it wasn't much. Wish I could find another like it to add to the collection I now have. I remember the first song on Christmas day after I powered it up. "BOC's Burning for You" I often wonder whatever happened to that box.. What I now have would put that one to shame, including my most recent still yet to arrive from an eBay seller. Far as I know there is none better, it's a Bumpboxx V3. Just a massive oversize jam box with updated features, (no cassette) So I leave you with this, Cops are Corrupt and Sadistic,, So sayith the fly one
