    Beautiful!!! Congratulations on the collection. I`m from Brazil I like very much these radios from the 80s. I have some of them. They were remarkable in my teenage time.

    My first boombox was the top of the line Sanyo M9994 and it had a phono pre amp and i used to have a Sony turntable plugged into it and sounded like a full on stereo. I just saw a few on eBay and one mint one going for $3K.
    I’m now starting to buy mini boomboxes bc of lack of space and Walkmans.

    ·30 or 40 is PMPO (musical watt). To "Real watts", you must divide it :8.
    "40 watt" PMPO is ONLY 5 WATTS.

    I dont really like the curvy top look on those lasonics, thats just me though. Aren't boomboxes supposed to be boxy and flat on every side, hence the term Boom"BOX"? My preference is JVC, Sanyo, or Panasonic.

    • @jukingeo
      @jukingeo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the early 80's boxes were more angular. I don't like the reissue Lasonics either. Thumbs up to JVC and Panasonic, but I was never a fan of Sanyo. Their boxes were pretty cheaply made save for one or two of the higher end models. Their cassette decks were pretty lousy sounding. Panasonic was a favorite because they were affordable and pretty good sounding all around, but sadly, they didn't make very large radios. That is where JVC comes in having probably the best sounding cassette decks on a portable, but the larger models like the M90 or M70 were always expensive units. I couldn't afford one back then, and it is even worse now.

    • @ajrg91
      @ajrg91 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jukingeo the only sanyo I experienced trying for myself is the M-X920 and it sounds pretty good for an 80s boombox. Every boombox collector has said that particular model is well built. Only thing that sucks with these 80s ghettoblasters is when you put the volume really high, the noise becomes so piercing that it starts to hurt your ears a bit. I'm very lucky and fortunate to have an M90 and that thing is freakin' incredible. Not even half way loud with the volume and it's already screaming in your ears. To me if it wasn't for the lack of bass, the M90 could still keep up to today's radios and speakers because it sounds so clean and crisp. I have yet to try out other boomboxes like the conion c100f since a lot of people have said that one is even louder than the M90.

    • @jukingeo
      @jukingeo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ajrg91 Ahhh, yes, the Conion Look-Alike. I never came across that model, but I think I did come across about two or three Sanyos that were decent, but again, when compared to the likes of JVC and Sharp? Naw. I stuck with those. I mostly dealt with Panasonics and Sharps as JVC's were hard to come by, especially the Holy Grail ones like the M90 and M70. I heard a 70 once and it was amazing, I only could imagine what the 90 would do.
      I ended up getting the Lasonic later in life and I was happy with that. But the selector switch broke on it and in a time of need of money, I sold it off. I regretted it too and I ended up buying a GE 3-6000 for a good price, but it isn't as loud as the Lasonic was.

    That Lasonic junk. I have one, big mistake, the thing is pure junk. Won't read the SD card, volume know only goes up not down, I have to use the remote, It uses batteries up faster than it should and A jam box half it's size out preformed it by leaps and bounds.

    • @jukingeo
      @jukingeo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The older Lasonic boxes were decent, but still not as good as the JVC's, Panasonics or Sharps. I would say there were more on par with Sanyo...just bigger! I had a TRC 931 and the radio and line in sounded decent, but the tapes always lacked in the low end. Again, decent, but no JVC.

    • @80s_Boombox_Collector
      @80s_Boombox_Collector 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jukingeo Maybe their tape decks are low quality, but Lasonics still have better low-end bass than most so-called holy grails.

    • @jukingeo
      @jukingeo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@80s_Boombox_Collector Conions suffered that problem as well as certain Crowns. In fact I had returned a Crown because the bass was so lacking on the low end. It was a massive Crown though and bigger than the Lasonic, but the Lasonic sounded better, so I ended up with that one. It still was lacking on the low end, but it was better than the Crown. Now the Conion, the radio sounded amazing, but again, the tapes, not so good. JVC's were excellent and that was even with a lower end model. Panasonic as well and I heard many of those. However, Panasonic never made really big radios like Sharp or JVC did. JVC was very expensive, so Sharp was a good alternative to a nicely built, nice sounding box. A few friends of mine had Sharps and I was happy with them. But now adays they are just as expensive as the JVCs, but they are easier to find.
