Pacific Ocean Park 1959-1960

- Video xfer from our old home movies on standard 8mm film. Based on my age and my little sister's age it was probably shot in 1959 or 1960. The music is from the DVD set I created for my family members. It's from the soundtrack to the movie "Somewhere In Time."
Great Film! Great wholesome family & fun! What happened??!! One person said they would like to go back for one day! I say, SEND SGT HERE BACK FOR GOOD!!!! Beam me back Scotty!!! R.I.P. POP and the GREAT-OLE-DAYS as well...

I love this!!! I remember the penguins and the baby elephant trying to get int your shirt, also envelopes of sardines to feed the seals. Nice catch of the Douglas A-26 Invader flying over, probably just took off from Clover Field. Thanks for sharing, wish I could go back for one day.
I wish there was footage of inside the dark rides. I wanted to ride that pirate ride (with the guys walking the plank on the outside) when I was about six but I kept my eyes screwed shut the whole time. And there was a tub dark ride a la Small world where you floated around on a track in the dark ("We've never lost a tub - yet"). In another simulated underwater ride you floated around the "ocean bottom" in an 8-foot plastic bubble.
I vaguely remember the space ride where you walked by alien creatures presumably on Mars or something. And the Flying Carpet ride. I remember when the park was on its downslide and a genie had its head knocked off but they didn't bother to fix it.
Wow, that brings back memories! I kinda look like that boy in the vid...i was around the same age at the time (my hair was more blond back then), Growing up in Santa Monica was a blast in those days.

Well, I do have stuff from Disneyland, too. Actually, quite a bit of that stuff. I can extract that stuff, too, and upload if anybody is interested. One scene showing me and Walt Disney when I was about the same age as in the POP footage. Ask and so shalt thou receive. :-)

It's about where Ocean Towers is but that was built in 1971.
