Hi, excuse me begin naive, I've always wondered if there was a way to sign up to do all the training and then be sent off on a tour, I would like to go on tour and serve my country, I dont want to join and wait around going to gym and doing training for years to then leave ( i dont mean that in a disrespectful manner as it may not be that way ) I dont want to be disrespectful asking this as am unsure how the system works but would there be a way to be almost drafted to the front lines (even tho I understand there isn't much deployment at the moment) after completing training in other words?

I used to watch the videos of British boot camp like "Wait, where's the hazing?? Where's the abuse? Where's the threatening to screw his girlfriend and not allow him to graduate??"
Then, I served with you guys and the British guys showed that they were very capable warfighters. Even though we went through a lot of tough times in the field, we had so much damn fun. The Brits love to get drunk and have fun at the bar. Every time we did a joint training exercise we would have such a blast at the bars and yall randomly break out in a song. That was the most hilarious thing to me. I would be sitting there like "How the hell did they memorize all these lyrics???" Lmaooo. I love you guys.
Shout out to you guys in the British Armed Forces. Yall have a very capable military and any rogue power would be stupid to mess with you guys. Absolutely amazing group of men and women to serve with and great dedication to being excellent at what you do.
Shout out from the USA brothers

Interesting. My late father had many postings and 'jobs' within the REME circa '56 to '86. He was told by his civvy boss he should join up for some man-management training so, as opposed to choosing a trade, he went RD because he wasn't seeking to cut out a career in the Army but thirty years later he was a Major (OC TRG BTN & DEPOT REME). They were based in Arborfield. I worked in SEE and my mother was the Chief Clerk of 45 SQN RCT - before they all amalgamated into the RLC or the 'Really Large Corps'! Thank you for sharing this video - I had been watching a TH-cam reboot of all the Lads/Bad Lads Army which led me here. I used to attend the Passing Out Parades often as Dad's companion - new dress always provided hee hee! Sadly, he passed in 2008 from Pancreatic Cancer. Thanks again for the memories x

I did training in that barracks, starting in June 1990! Vimy Barrack I was a Junior soldier in the R Signals, I also did my trade training there. Helles barracks was also our place as well. Certa Cito!

djrxp I don’t recall having wonderful memories of Catterick, after a year and half of hell on catterick training area in the snow and rain, and effin gorse bushes (arrrrrrgh!) I was happy to touch down in Germany for 8 years. My bro lives local and we still discuss certain aspects of catterick and Colburn that are long gone. But it’s nice to watch from a far as an armchair general and gob off about yoff nowr days😀! Enjoy, keep leading from the front👍🏻 and when it stops being fun, pop smoke and find something new.

I've heard great things about Germany, it's a shame most won't experience that now. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, appreciate the comment👌
