My grandfather was a farmer, and he never threw anything away. He always said every time he threw something away, he would need it the following week. Eventually, he would find a new use for most things. Nothing was ever wasted. It was repaired, reused, or recycled. You and he would get on wonderfully!

Our county in Southern California is well known in the US as providing year round growing seasons for fruits & veg. Strawberries, MANY varieties, are grown & harvested year round. Our county has several agencies, both county government affiliated & private, non-profit, assisting farm laborers. I worked for 17 years for the county health care agency (I am retired registered nurse). I was & am impressed by the outreach by my agency. One "small" but very significant example is that the 1st available Covid vaccine was provided in the community. Housing areas, churches, etc. Our farm laborer family had the highest vaccination rate in the county, matched only by health care workers & those in communal living situations (care homes). Ohhh you know the English old cottages have those massive fireplaces with a passive beam and in the hollow of the fireplace there’d be a cubby for wood but that door can be functional with wood storage on the outside … or you could add a bread and pizza oven by extending it out on the back … sorry can you tell I’m excited! Great job Jack! You sure have a lot of stuff. It’s great to get rid of stuff and clean it up, looking good! You could always install a septic tank for the caravan and hook up water and electricity from your house. That way, it’s all separate.
Sean once you get it all cleaned up around the grapevine and elderberry bush will you put down landscape fabric barrier and then heavily mulch… that method worked for me

Always interesting to see what people pull out of the barn... I'm in the US and have an RV (actually this is my second one). I'm not by any means an expert but check that roof very closely. I'm going to guess that it's the same rubber type compound that I've had on mine. Usually they are very thin and prone to cracking They usually need to be replaced every 10 years or so. If you push on the walls and feel any give you may have some boards that need to be replaced. Not impossible to do but you'll have to take your time. Shoot me a note when you start thinking about solar. I'm a mechanical engineer and converted my fifth wheel a couple of years ago.

We own and run our winery here in Virginia and have been harvesting our grapes for the past 4 weeks … a couple more varieties to go.. it’s certainly a labor of love. And yes the hornets LOVE the grapes.. lol!

Honestly easiest way to clean up … three boxes outside the camper door … mark DONATE, KEEP & TOSS … quickly move through stuff cause the second you slowdown one starts to hoard ever darn thing … myself I make up projects I’ll do but you know I’ve figured if something has sat for a couple of years honestly it isn’t needed…

I need a nap now after watching you and Jack do all that work. We use our caravan (“trailer”) here in Texas for guests. We put a propane tankless hot water heater in it so you can take a long relaxing shower without running out of hot water.

These old French buildings are wonderful. You can do all sorts of things with them. It just takes time, imagination and careful budgeting! Each little thing you do makes a difference.
