I have a DJI Pocket 2 and the best thing about it compared to other cameras and phones: you can shoot videos from the hip so almost noone notices it, great for city filming.
Without the additional adapter it looks like a lighter or fidget spinner in your hand (this is what people told me that they thought it was), which is great for stealing some shots that you would normally feel embarrassed to take or be told to put your camera away.
I prefer the pocket 3 because it is more discreet when it comes to vlogging. I feel less self conscious when I am filming with it in comparison to the iPhone 16. Thank you for sharing!!
I bought the pocket 3 and sold it. Main reason is autofocus. I used the pocket 3 for talking head videos and it was a nightmare with the autofocus. Had to manually focus everytime with lot of focus breathing and lots of out of focus clips. Maybe for vlogging it works better. But thats not what I intended to use it for. Anyway. I just use my S24 ultra for everything now and its a breeze. Maybe will go for a compact Sony mirrorless in future. Or the pocket 4 😅
You have it on “continuous” focusing and that’s your issue. The camera will be continuously trying to focus which means it’s constantly hunting. You have to set it to center if you’re doing talking heads so it just stays fixed. Even product focus mode would have been better 😂
@@REALHARSH I do not have it in continuous focus as that's the worst mode. I always keep it onanual focus but focus keeps shifting when I do product reviews.
@@REALHARSH I don't keep it on continuous focus. Always on Manual Focus. But that's not reliable too. This is after trying for almost 10 videos with difference modes. Tried everything in the book and sold it frustrated.
iPhone every day of the week! Which one will serve a multiple drops, very weather proof and sand/dirt proof. I would break that gamble in about 3weeks or freeze it skiing. iPhone sinking all video straight to the cloud backup without lifting a finger. You can literally hand it to anyone and have them film you. The pocket is a great gadget but a gadget. But that’s just me, I’m sure it would work fine for someone who doesn’t need something as rugged.
For most users the iPhone is better, easier work flow and no processing. It's only if you are doing a lot of walking around at night that the pocket 3 would be better which is actually what I do.
I prefer the DJI pocket, I was using my iPhone for videos but I think it’s time to use a camera to make eve better videos. I mean that’s what they are made for ( cameras )
Thank you for this side by side comparison! I'm trying to up my recording game and I was debating if the Pocket 3 would be better than my 16 Pro. I record a lot of my daughters events (cheer competitions and musicals) and since they came in so close I think I will stick with the 16 Pro since I already have it (among a bunch of other reasons). But I will say using my 16 Pro with the dji nimble is a game changer and just makes recording these events so easy. Now I just have to find a better external wide lens. Thanks again!
For low light the OP3 is light years ahead. The Gimbal for stabilization and the follow mode is just too much for any phone. And I love to be low profile while recording out there. OP3 is just too much for a nice price.
I’m doing some long term travelling in Asia soon and would love to film it on the Osmo. My only concern is about the theft risk of doing all my filming on such an expensive gadget.
I think the biggest con with the pocket 3 which no one mentions (& I wouldn't have got the pocket 3 if I knew) is the autofocus and no option for manual focus making it a nightmare for recording painting / top down / anything where you don't want it to keep going in and out of focus. If anyone knows a way to get around this, please let me know... as it stands I just have so many out of focus videos x
@@byronvinix Thank you Byron, I've tried that but I find it keeps losing focus / I'm having to repeatedly tap the screen to try to keep it in focus - this is more so an issue for POV shooting rather than having it focus on my face x
How do you make videos if you’re answering your phone. That’s why the pocket 3 will always win for vlogging and run and gun videoing. The iPhone is ok if you’re at home and can put it on do not disturb.
I can’t recall who posted a video where he was able to connect Bluetooth audio with iPhone via the black magic app…if so this will free up the port for other accessories on iPhone 😊
Can you PLEEEEEAAAAASE make a video of podcasting using only Osmo pockets 3s and and Dji mics? Please!!! I've been commenting this on your every videos I watched.
There’s no comparison between an iPhone and Pocket 3, particularly in lower light which the Pocket 3 handles amazingly well for the sensor size. As long as you don’t need optical zoom. Suspect Pocket 4 will come with an optical zoom.
No, great camera but don't go buy it and start. Just use your Samsung 24 , google ,or iPhone. *All 3 will work fine for everything* including editing and thumbnail Do not get a dji pocket if u normally have to shoot downwards . The mic is great, but again I would just use 2 rode wireless mics. The phone is so Easy to use compared to DJI stuff. But if u r not beginner, then give it a try I just got the DJI action 5 and it is way better than go pro
Great video I’ve been looking at buying the Osmo 3 it looks great for fast filming which is what I want now. I had a ronin rsc2 which I used with iPhone for years but it always took to much time to set up and was heavy. Also what was that specific iPhone rig you used ? Great video very helpful comps thanks buddy
hey really informative video. but could u talk about heat issue of 16pro n 16 pro max while shooting videos and log shoot?? plz tell something here coz i just worry about this problem only otherwise i like 16pro more than any other thing.
With Pocket 3 no need for Gimbal and it keeps the horizon levelled all the time. Very good steady cam even with my Ulanzi at full length in portrait mode.
Weird you can shoot in “ProRes log” in h.265…almost like mixing up codecs and color profiles It’s called Apple log. Secondly, D Log M is barely real log…the main point of a log profile is to retain the relationship between the scene (what the camera captured) and the encoded image…this is called “scene referred”…it does that by publishing the math as to how to decode it. DJI hasn’t published this, so there isn’t really a way to decode their encoding. Apple has, that’s why in DaVinci resolve you can use a color space transform on Apple Log, but you can’t for D Log M. So from a usability perspective, D Log M is basically unusable for me, while Apple log is basically the same as SLog3 or VLog. It fits seamlessly into a post production pipeline.
@ I’m new to all of this and this is probably a simple question to you but I bought a pocket 3 creator combo and it comes with a charger cable, but do you need a special DJI charger to plug it into a outlet or will any charger work? If so what one?
You forgot to mention that you can’t use your phone for calls and messages while recording your vlog. Theres no hassle of an incoming call or text while shooting your content with the Pocket 3.

I agree completely!
The best thing is to just have both 💯
It’s called Pocket 3 yes, but not that good for your pocket😂
I use the iPhone 16 Pro Max with Hohem M6 for my non motorcycle vlogging on my channel.
I have that same setup. It's nice 👍
Very good video but can android get some play
Let's see what we can do....
@ThinkMediaTV much respect

Maybe you had it in the wrong focus setting. The autofocus in the pocket 3 is pretty good

Downloaded the Blackmagic Cam app immediately after your suggestion. Can’t wait to get into it. Thank you, sir! 🔥
Glad to hear it!

You can change the focus mode to single focus and tap the screen where you want to focus. That way the focus won't move

Super interesting. Bluetooth audio is usually quite a bit less reliable than a wired connection, so it might not be viable option for all.
What about webcam functionality comparisons? Webcam resolutions.
That’s downtown Portland, I lived in goose hallow 🎉

You’re better off using a usb c mic like MV7+
I use the Pocket 3 for my Podcast...No issues

Nice video man ❤🎉
I think i will get the Dji Pocket
Awesome, you'll love it!
What will be better for cinematic videos while travelling?
No, great camera but don't go buy it and start. Just use your Samsung 24 , google ,or iPhone. *All 3 will work fine for everything* including editing and thumbnail

I just got the DJI action 5 and it is way better than go pro
As far as follow mode the DJI is way better than gimbals
Thank you, I was wondering about downward videos.
Hey, Can you make a Review video for us, Using Dji pocket 3 make overhead Tech product unboxing/Reviews types video.
Thank you

Ooof that b-roll where you're holding the iPhone with no case gave me anxiety lol.
Same honestly haha
good

I have both , but I use the iPhone the most
What about zoom on the pocket 3?
It can... but It is just digital zoom so I don't usually use it. Not as good as the optical zoom of the different lenses of the iPhone.

Very true.
You know the Dji mic 2 has onboard recording also
I film my videos on the pocket 3. Amazing
It should’ve been the DJI Pocket 3 vs the Hohem iSteady M7 w/iPhone 16 Pro. 🤷🏽♂️
Small TH-camrs let's do it ❤🎉
🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎
Can you teather the pocket 3 to a phone for live streaming?
I pick the pocket 3 over the iPhone to shoot my videos 😅
Let's grow small TH-camrs together. Thanks for sharing.
If I could just turn it on without jumping though hoops to activate so they can data mine my phone no thank you I’ll pass
Still using my phone only 🥲
