I remember going to Ponderosa as a kid. Most definitely miss that place. Of the 13 that were left, Alliance, Ohio was one of them. Me & my wife went there & the food there was so good just like it was back the 70s & 80s. Not too long after that, they closed for good
My family and I use to eat at Bonanza which later became Ponderosa. My first job in ‘99 (I was 16)was as a cashier/server at the very restaurant my family and I ate at when I was a kid.
Can still remember eating those yummy fried clam strips at Howard Johnson's during the 1960s just off the Pennsylvania turnpike after family fishing trips.
In Fl. We had Quincy's...loved their yeast rolls...also Morrison's Cafeteria...I loved going there...and a chicken place called The Golden Drumstick....😢
I wish there were right coach in here I would love to go there sounds perfect and the ambience sounds exactly like what I would like so open up in Portland, Oregon, please thank you
I think a better job could have been done on the editing. If you’re going to put several videos together to create one long one, good editing makes it much more enjoyable to watch. I miss Bonanza. You missed Fiesta Cantina and Old Country Buffet. I think the reason Fiesta Cantina closed is the one you gave for ChiChi’s. A listeria outbreak that killed several people. I loved that place.
We have a Howard Johnson's here in Colorado springs but it's not anywhere you'd want to go lol. It's in a heavily homeless populated area, alot of drug use, and it's very run down. But they still exist lol.
I still remember york steak house. Guess i was 9 according to you. Glazed chicken was orgasmic. Great place to meet grandma and not have to bring an hour away to our house fir dinner
Bonanza- I don't get it! That place was always packed to it closed down. The Ponderosa was clear over on the other side of town, Golden Coral closed the place down.
There was another “setback” for the box in the ‘80s. They were (supposedly) getting some of their meat from overseas. It was in the hews that some of it was kangaroo & crocodile or alligator. I worked for another fast food franchise…. If asked, were instructed to say, “Oh no ma’am (or sir), our meat is loo% grade A DOMESTIC beef!”
Bonanza, Pretty good, Howard Johnson! Our rare road-trip treat! Ice cream cones and fried clams!!! I don’t remember Swensens. We had Carvel. Brown Derby? No memory of it. Don’t remember Durgin Park. York Steakhouse? No memory of it. # Victoria Station. Kenny Rogers? Remember, but never tried it. Burger Chef- Remember, never ate there. Rax Roast Beef, never heard of it. Sambos? Don’t remember. Trader Vic’s? Don’t recall. LePeep? A new one on me! Chicken George- nope! Gino’s Hamburger? Nope! Magic Pan? Never heard. Velvet Turtle? N-O, Morrisons- nope, Henry’s Hmburgers, n-o, Red Coach Inn-Finally! My folks went there for their15th Anniversary. Bresslers? Never heard of it. Red Barn-heard of, never went there. Ground Round, yes! Used to eat lunch there in the 1980’s. Houlihans, remember, never tried it. Naugles- Don’t remember, but don’t like Mexican. Chi-Chi’s- do remember, but didn’t try. I don’t like Mexican food. Beefsteak Charlie’s- Once, for a work colleague’s retirement. Orange Julius! Yes! In NYC, Penn Station. I still make them at home. Luv the drink, ignore the religious stuff. Wetson’s- Yes! Many times with Mom. We lived on Long Island, NY. Was better than McDonald’s. All American Burger, maybe once. I do remember it. Sambo’s- remember it, but don’t think I ate there. The Magic Pan? No, York Steakhouse? No. Hot ‘n Now- Never heard of it. Gino’s Pizza, a few times, but not my favorite pizza, Karmelkorn- no memory, Morrisons- no, Jack in the Box? Tried once, didn’t like at all! Not surprised when it made people sick! Sandy’s-no memory, Steak ‘n Ale? Remember, never tried it. Velvet Turtle? There’s a club by that name in NY, but don’t remember a fast food place. Carrols? Remember it, never ate there. Brigham’s- no memory, Herfy’s- no. Ponderosa-Ate there for a friend’s birthday, maybe 1977 or 1978? Pup ‘n Taco-no memory, Don’t like Mexican, Hamburger Hamlet- no memory. Seeing that I have no memory of most of these restaurants, it can be concluded that I didn’t move around much, I didn’t eat fast food or at chain restaurants, I have a poor memory, or I was monetarily poor. The truth is #2 and #4. When you grow up in a military family of nine children, you DO move around, you DON’T eat out, because it’s too expensive on one military salary, even after moving up in rank!
To the person who posted the “misspellings are infuriating “… I was only 3” minutes into the video it does really get much worse I just had to disable the captions!!
The food industry is a great example of the truism that survival depends on adaptability, whether it’s food service or species! The way McDonalds, KFC and BurgerKing have constantly changed to meet new tastes has been the secret of their continued success.
Nah one thing you have good franchises first back in 60s to 70 a lot good owners and quality of the food was good bow most owners are lazy you need work 60 to 70 hours and make sure restaurant is clean not dirty and parking lot
It would have been interesting if it were put together better random switching mentioning one restaurant then totally skipping to something else, very disappointed.
The Real once Awsome places to go out to dinner Are bein Replaced by Chinese food places or Korea places Once was Enough of havin Chinese food come up Fool me Once but Never Happens Twice Anymore its Welcome to the New World of Japan Chinese Korea and Taiwan You dont have to Believe me just look around you
The best place you show so far is Noggles Noggles had amazing super giant burritos. It’s called the macho burrito better than that that were there taco salads. I’ve tried to make them 1000 times but they never taste the same. There were amazing. My mom worked there for a month or two before they switch to being stupid shitty Del taco that sucks Del taco does not have a good food. The last time I grease for my hand to my elbow it was so gross. I couldn’t finish eating It, but whatever
Ponderosa! I loved the salad bar when I was a kid. Used to eat so much jello! Lol

FYI There are two Roasters restaurants in Atlanta. I'm actually getting my dinner there today!
We have a Howard Johnson's here in Colorado springs but it's not anywhere you'd want to go lol. It's in a heavily homeless populated area, alot of drug use, and it's very run down. But they still exist lol.
Went to magic pan in Silicon Valley. It was our favorite go to. Yummy

Oh, thanks! Now I’m craving hot fudge!

We lost our bonanza in my little Canadian city in like 2000
Bonanza- I don't get it! That place was always packed to it closed down. The Ponderosa was clear over on the other side of town, Golden Coral closed the place down.
You can add Red Lobster on the list they are going out of business soon.
Ours is still open and doing well.
@@thejourney1369 I pray that it continues 🤗
All of ours are gone😢

Ponderosa was my spot!
I always wonder what these people in these videos are doing today. I’m sure 1/2 have passed but the remaining?

I loved Rax. It was my favorite and my family didn't go enough. They chose McDonàlds:/ No other roast beef sandwich is the same
What about Beefsteak Charlie's and Charlie Brown's?
Why does it repeat itself?
Oh, I know--there was no editor

It's hamburgers, and most times I get my order wrong. It's cheaper is why they're still around. But that's changing fast.
So many these places dropped quality so badly.
