Sony released the FS7 II when there was still high demand for the first version. The new Fx6 II will have on-camera 3.5mm audio jack, improved dynamic range, improved color, as well as a few more minor improvements.
Very good point! An internal mic on the body itself would be handy too, for any gimbal work.
On camera 3.5mm (at the least) would be amazing, I think one thing people would really appreciate is an OLED or high quality LCD monitor similar to the high end EVFs like on the A1 or A7RV.
The Fx6 doesn't even have a 3.5mm jack? Even my crappy BMPCC has one and XLR inputs. For $6k Im stunned.
Fx6 mII should have a audio input on the body, even if it’s a mini Jack. The monitor has also much to improve.. actually , aside from the quality they could have a 3:2 aspect ratio like on the FX3 allowing to display all the information in the black bars and leave the image clean. I love that feature on the FX3 even if the monitor is not usable a main monitor tool (always attach an external field monitor. And speaking of the fx3, well IBIS would be welcome really .. if it fits in the FX3 , it should fit in the FX6 ,
Yeah thats a great point on the 3:2 ratio screen!
My thinking is actually keeping the FX6 and see what the FX9 Mark II has to offer. Not too concerned how the FX6 will improve, it'll be great for a long time to come as my then B camera ;)
Downsampled 6k sensor, 2x ANA de-squeeze, 12bit colour and I’ll get the CC out
12 bit colour internal would be amazing. Not sure how that stacks up with the red patent issues.
Interestingly the 2x ana is coming via firmware now!
Surprised y’all didn’t mention the internal NDs! For shoots in uncontrolled bright settings a few more stops would seem ideal for all situations like the c70s 10 stops of iND.
Memory cards are also a big factor of your costs, Sonys cf express type A is much pricier than type B it’d be a relief if they made the slot somehow accept both.
The handle with the audio ports also seems like a massive pain people want ports on the body so they can have a smaller build for gimble and run n gun. Though a mark II will probably be a carbon copy of the original body to lower R&D so perhaps that’s wishful thinking.
More wishful thinking but money left on the table from Sony, an optional EVF mountable eyecup would be amazing if it was a modern (mark ii) version of the a7siii or A1 with the ability to show full rez while recording instead of just on playback
My realistic wishes for the upcoming FX6 MKII:
- XLR audio inputs on the camera body itself. At least one of them and 3.5mm Jack.
- 5 inches monitor
- more codecs options such as ProRes (internal ProRes RAW is very unlikely to come but it would be awesome even if an additional license was needed)
- DCI 4K at 240 FPS
That would be a good evolution if released with the same price tag.
3.5mm jack, absolutely! Especially with the RS3 now being able to comfortably hold the FX6 body and lens. We'll keep our fingers crossed...
I made few quick tests shooting XAVC ALL-I internaly and Prores 422HQ externaly on BMD Video Assist 12G recorder and there was no difference at all (800% pixel peeping)! Minor difference is Prores was very (VERY) subtly more contrast. Planning to make more tests, but at first I don't see cases where I whould need Prores in this camera.
@Alexander Davidyuk that's interesting to hear! Great that the internal codec holds up so well compared. Thanks for sharing!!
1) Ibis would not be good because When a camera has Ibis it loses the ability to have ND filters in it because the filters won't be able to stay in front of the sensor when it's moving.
There is no camera that has both Ibis and nd filters
2) The camera should have some type of remote start control with a USBC port.
This will make it more compatible with other setups and also the Ronin RS3 pro.
90% of the time on the camera you always have to bring your hand up to press record because there's no other way to control the camera outside of the app and the app is not very good.
The other points that were made were good too but these that I am mentioning are What I think would make The camera more faster and convenient
Great podcast/video. Question guys. Do you think the FX6 will still be “usable” in the next 2-3 years? Im planning to get the FX6 this month.
They answered this question multiple times in this video. And if you have to ask… you probably aren’t at the level where you absolutely need the fx6 to begin with. A canon c100 mkii is still “usable” professionally today and that only shoots 1080p. It depends how good you are.
@@gabe5661 Well done
@@alexanderchua no disrespect intended, if I happened to come off that way. I think 4k cameras are going to have a much longer shelf life than the 1080p cameras did. 4K is all we need really, anything above that making storage and processing power of computers just another huge expense.
Glad you're enjoying it Alexander! Yeah absolutely, I feel as though the last 5-6 years will be the steepest incline in camera technology in the prosumer range for a while, with the FX6 sitting comfortably towards to the top of the list of cameras that will hold up, both in specs and value
IBIS would be a nice feature. But I agree the FX6 for its price/performance does not need a version 2 unless they add a lot of features and drop the price.
FX6m2 would have open gate and 8k down sampled to 6k. They could call it the FX6K.
Phwoaaarr. That would be incredible.
APSC version of the FX6
That would be interesting! Fx30 internals in an fx6 body? Could be a good offer!
@@itstaketwopodcast What would be a good price for a ASPC FX6? I bet even at C70 price it would sell like hot cakes
