  • Saranda is a coastal town on the Albanian Riviera along the Ionian Sea. It’s the largest city in southern Albania, and only a 30-minute ferry ride away from the popular Greek island of Corfu. In recent years, Saranda has become a popular tourist destination thanks to its easy access, affordability, and strategic location to discover other beaches and historic sites from. The city itself is very lively, with lots of entertainment options throughout the day and night. In this video, we highlight the best things to do in & around Saranda, Albania (NOT IN SPECIFIC ORDER!).

    Love Saranda, we live Central Belgrade and went during pandemic, the locals want an airport 🛫 understandably, but we liked the fact, it wasn't overrun, due to no airport (fly to Corfu and its 18€ on hydtofoil, takes 20 min.. Eastern Europeans holiday there, its substantially cheaper than Greece etc. Never met 1 Brit in 10 nights, heaven 😂. We swam in it.

      I don't think cheap is a negative connotation at all. By definition it is not. Albania is cheap, you get more than what you pay for.

      @@JayandSarahI think for the Albanians foreigners calling their country cheap might come across as being negative insinuating it is behind other nations in development etc.

    Excellent video! It is so informative! Thank you! Albania intrigued me but I didn’t know anything about traveling there and I was nervous. I’m planning a trip to Northern Greece and maybe include Corfu. But now that I see that I can go from Corfu to Saranda, Albania maybe I will go there instead 😎 probably take a bus to Gjirokaster. Do you have to go through customs when going from corfu to Sarandë? Thank you again sooo much for this great video!

      Thank you! There is a bus to Saranda, which leaves from the North South Albania Bus Terminal (you can take a bus to the terminal or take a taxi from the city center of Tirana - it’s not that far). We bought our ticket when we got to the station. It’s chaotic but people will help you find the ticket booth and bus. There’s at least 6 buses a day or so. Hi! I'm planning on staying in southern Albania for some days in the beginning of May. Right now my plan is to stay in Saranda for 3 days, Ksamil for 2 days, and then Corfu for 3 days. But I'm still unsure. Maybe you have some recommendations! I'd love to visit beaches, and I like old towns and historic sites.

    • @worldwildhearts
      @worldwildhearts  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! I'd say Saranda 3 days is enough (also visit Butrint from Saranda). I would skip Ksamil, it's horribly crowded. You could spend more time in Corfu instead. Or visit Gjirokaster and the Blue Eye instead of Ksamil!

    • @worldwildhearts
      @worldwildhearts  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We didn't prebook the tour. You can just talk to the salesmen at the harbour (there are like 100 different boat companies that offer the tour). Just make sure to talk to a few before making a decision! Not all of them are great;...

      We went with a random one around the boulevard, but wouldn't really recommend them as our captain barely spoke English. Your best bet is to walk around the boulevard and talk to different companies! It was pretty cheap... around 20USD per person if I remember correctly
