Maybe... extend the lower flat part upwards in a triangle-ish form all the way up with the same angle. Could give an interesting height difference to the 'shaped' sides?! 🤔
If you want to make the smoke plume bigger, put the emitters in tiers. Outside ring directly on the roof, then step up a block at a time as you get closer to the centre. The smoke from the outer rings should hide the riser blocks of each successive tier. Then, you could look at mixing in some dark smoke on one of the intermediate tiers for a bit of depth.
Add some lights to the inside of the roof lip to illuminate the smoke a bit. Also on the flat sides you could try the colorable solar panels inset to prove gribble and also some extra power!
Fantastic build, few ideas that i think would be cool, having beacon lights on the tower and following the direction/flight path you would follow to head back to the asteroid base with beacon marker lights along that path, would be a nice touch for re-entry/returning to shagger base particularly at night, another option i think would be fantastic would be to have some A.I ships buzzing about between main base and the shop on home planet even if only for visuals if not a genuine purpose yet, I love the series and can’t wait to see what you do next!
Smoke coming out of those triangle pieces would look so cool! Maybe with some blue lighting inside to make it appear lit up inside like the red spark room in the base
Skye, I am always flabbergasted by your creative process. Thanks so much for the fantastic videos. I always enjoy seeing another one of your vids in my feed! The diagonal sides of your octagon are... challenging... to greeble and decorate. You may be able to do something to break things up by coloring some of the blocks to make a pattern, but I think the best idea is to use what you talked about earlier in the video (though I'm not sure how you would make it work): Put the reactor "flower petals" you were talking about attaching to rotors on the Diagonal flat sides. That would give those sides some dimensionality and break up the flatness. Maybe it could be done with a combination of rotors to set the 45 degree angle, and hinges to move the petals? As some have suggested in the comments, having successively taller smoke emitters that are hidden by the ones in front of them might look fantastic. If done correctly, they should be hidden by the outer emitters. Additionally, adding in some normal smoke emitters may add depth? Think Outer-most emitters are white, middle gray normal smoke, inner ring of emitters are white smoke again, with each tier being elevated a block or two higher than the previous one. Also, I'm not sure if Space Engineers lighting system can handle it, but as others have suggested, putting some bright light sources in the smoke may look great at night! Or not. I'm not sure if spotlights affect the Smoke FX. Also as others have said, those black inset triangles near the top of the tower are begging for white smoke emitters as well! Whatever you decide to do, keep up the incredible work! Thanks!
This is looking very promising! I like it a lot! The pipes look awesome as well! Skye doing casually 3 mega construction projects at the same time cause, why not? Love it!
It's so interesting to see how different everyones creativity works. Personally I need the complete building in place then decorate and change things up. Sky's process are so different to mine and truly inspiring.
Idea for you. The black triangles up at the top, change them to a color you like, and put bright lights in them so it glows. Or even a slowly pulsating light? Keep up the great work!
Dear Skye, I have resorted to BEGGING for you to put that dish antenna up on the asteroid and make it look like it has raspberry jam on 🤣🤣 even if it's only for a minute just for the joke. This thing is looking so freaking cool. Once again, you've impressed me with your patience and resilience while creating something so awesome.
Idea : I think you can add pipes and vents on the structure, industrial things kinda. Pipes used for process the ice and vents to evacuate the heat of machinery etc.... Love the series, keep on going like that !!! Thanks for the entertainement
I’m gobsmacked! That’s a stunner if I’ve ever seen one. Though, with great building comes great responsibility. You need to solve a way to have a set of HUGE doors (in between those central prominent bits) that, when approached, gets pulled inwards and slides to each side. Goes without saying that when closed they shant be distinguishable from the rest and they shall end their respective motions with a great clang from heavy metal pieces colliding.
Great idea! Could just smack them on, as well. On the same plane as the wall, no rotation. Solve the aesthetics and get whatever free power provided in the process.
Now this is starting to look really good😉 Though a suggestion you could try is: put the exhaust on a hinge so you can direct the smoke more to the side, it might give it some more mass👍
DEAR SKYE! I was thinking of using the exhaust ports for the diagonal sides to break them up a bit. maybe a bit of fire or such like the ice is being processed on site.
Coming along quite nicely. As for ideas, only one I've got this time is to mix it up with the smoke. Make one of the eight already-present exhausts put out regular black smoke (perhaps one of the processing machines is burning a bit of oil) and add one more exhaust as close to center as possible that spits out the green reactor smoke (the ice has mineral deposits buried within, after all). The Rebellion is just getting back on its feet, so not all processes will have been streamlined for efficiency yet. Especially when it's just _one guy_ doing the lion's share of work on this planet!
Thumbnail made me happy immediately, dude you did so good on this building, I can't wait to see the finished product. It's gonna be awesome to see you work out the drill rig and anything else you end up putting in there.
Antennas, they could help out on the roof or on the sides. Great series and awesome work!!!! Thanks. And of course you thought of antennas lol. Smoke looks great. Later.
Great idea! But on the drilling complex I would have the entrance another side than the piping. Piping should be a special peace and go in to the building whitout the entrance on same place. Maybe entrance toward hangard, so you can from watchtower at hanger se who is going in and out. And the pipe get it own desing. Maybe a pump box/thing on the drilling complex
Another enjoyable episode. Love the creativity that you bring to your builds. But I much confess that I have used some of your ideals. Like the pipeline supports I modified to a long pipeline that I had built in my gameplay for the same reason to hook up to my hydrogen farm.
Might I suggest, build a welding rig on pistons and rotors to weld that up. You can set the rotors to have limits at 0 and 270 degrees basically, then an event controller to have it raise one level of blocks each time it hits an extreme. It would just take one row of welders, and put blocks ahead and behind it so that it doesn't weld a row too high and hit it. It would be much more interesting than just welding it by hand or with the welding ship.
15:29 sorry sky for all the messages, idea for the top if used advanced motor and you can make it look like a fan extractor if you just put some still beams on it
a suggestion, instead of using full blocks on the inside of the structure, use angled blocks, it will free up space and give the angles more pronouncement inside
That's a great looking build. In terms of those diagonal sides - maybe you can use armour panels to break them up a bit. Window blocks have some angled blocks - you could use those similar to how you used the darker blocks at the top. Plus, try the modular deck blocks from the contact DLC - they are kinda like windows but with a different look and with a few angled pieces as well.
Do some lighting effects. They may not be very noticable during the day, but at night that building would look really awesome. And use a timer block to set up some blinking lights.
You really seem to be enjoying this game Skye ( I am enjoying watching you build ) How high do you rate the building so far? Best ever , that'll do pig or rubbish? 😜
the shape of that building is awesome maybe change the block detail to sci fi or carbon fibre might have an effect not sure the grey triangles are cool great work
Get another flat side done and you’ll be able to work out the diagonals better. Maybe incorporate some solar panels to add some texture? Also power supply redundancy
For the smoke, you can maybe blow out 1 or 2 different smokes to give it more structure, just 1-2 extra can be added. You can also let 1 single electric charge go off irregularly to give it a nice effect. A spotlight or a soft light from below to make it a spooky show at night. Is it possible to let an electric charge go off along an antenna sometimes? A kind of view inside would be nice. Making it actually work is nice, but I'm afraid you'll quickly have drilled a hole to the other side of the world before you've finished everything ;-) Keeping something fake going for the look is the solution, but I'm sure you have a solution for that.
Does the smoke effect go through other blocks? If so You might be able to put some just under the smoke stack with a different color effect to give more depth and detail to it. If not a slight darker interior smoke could give some more realistic lighting/shadow effect.
Yeah... thought the same... dark to light... from inside to the outside of the "cloud"... guess would bring Lots of Volume... and yeah it need to be Illuminated from underneath
Great job Skye …when it’s done ..wack on some engines and fly it lol … good concept , yeah needs some fine detail on those flat faces ..lettering and coloured tiles ..anyway GG ..🎉🎉

Maybe light blue instead of the black blocks inside the triangles (if you didn't choose during this épisode 😅, I'm half way through). It would match the ice color.
the diagonals may pop with simply colour and patterns, this saves you block placement headaches? maybe worth 15-20 mins testing to just see? if not its still content.. but its looking great, perhaps there is a clear block you can use to make a tower in your smoke stack to add smoke higher , then you can have it fade over a larger area?
Cool stuff --> Keep Building. I was wondering if you could hide a single stack of blocks in the smoke. And then add exhaust pipes on it in order to shape the smoke plume. Don't know if it will look good. But I'm just curious.
for the triangle at the center piece, i like it pointing upwards instead of down. but that's just me. maybe you can alternate between up and down at different sides.
for the flat side, why not just paint a logo on the wall instead of making it look industrial. get picture to design a picture with triangles XD it'll be a mural or if you can make it look weathered and beat up with different styles of block. make it look like it's been patched. finally for the smoke, i would want it to go up higher. can you put a second set on a platform in the smoke to make it go higher?
solar pannels, lots of them. (on flat sides) . laid flat is probably good for easy way. give the building a reasson for being flat..... but if you want to be extra creative im thinking standing them on there ends. on rotors/ hinges so they follow the sun if you want to battle clang.

I like the contouring you've already added, though it feels a bit short, especially compared to your inspiration. That said, I could live with it as is especially once you get the drills in. Are you going to drill under the surface so the frozen "lake" still looks good from the outside?

The diagonal side being triangle faces give you more of an opportunity to go with a more unique design when/if you choose to color it.
