My father has a custom made leather brogue shoe with sole made out of airplane tires. It was made around the 80's and the soles are very long lasting! And Im the one using it to this day!
This is beautiful work! It's a shame that they haven't figured out how to make repurposing the tire rubber cheap (yet!) But there is still hope! I feel, intuitively, that there must be some way to machinate/automate harvesting workable rubber from tire soles! We must strive to innovate and dig ourselves out of this terrible mess careless industrialism has wrought!
