Instead of hand signals for turns, wouldn't signal lights work better? I hope you review e-bike turn signal lights. Amazon sells a set of four for both the front and back of the bike that also can be used as four-way hazard flashers. But do they fit on bulky brawny electric bikes? I hope you answer that question. As far as I know, Juiced is the only company that sells e-bikes with front and rear turn signal lights on a couple models. Too bad they're always sold out.
it bothers me so much how people are mad for anyone on the road other then a car, yet in some places your not even loud to ride a bike on the side walk ,-, for someone who suffers from anxiety, there is no win win D: probs will just get a e scooter and ride on a side walk at slow speeds, alot safer then bikes on the side walk .
I'm someone who was anxious about riding on the road too, but I've gotten pretty good at it. You just gotta keep looking behind you making sure cars don't get too close. Don't be pressured to go fatser than you like. And of course, if you feel unsafe, don't be afraid to get on the sidewalk. In the suburb I live in, sidewalks just end sometimes and there are zero bike lanes so I don't really have a choice.
@@antonioiniguez1615 I got some.handle bar mirrors off amazon and they took care of that immediately i feel a lot already. I also have the turn signal and spotlight for at night and a horn.
but what about multilanes big roads, I can't stay on the right side as it's for taking right turn and I want to go straight. So should I stay in the middle lane ? But the road is 60-70KM/hr traffic and doesn't have a dedicated bike lane
Hello and thank-you for this very informative video. In my area we have a lot intersection of 2 roads wirth 4 stops. When your driving a car, it's easy to do, wait your turn, the one who arrived first goes but on a bike it's not that easy because the cars don't seem to treat you as you are a car even if you arrived first and they just take off following their turns!. What is the right way to do this? Should I get off my bike and walk beside it while crossing the road? Thanks for your input about this, I don't know the right way do do this safely.
I’ve ridden my e-bike 3 times and the 3rd time I got home and ordered rear view mirrors that go into the handle bars. I fucking hate being in the bike lane and not being able to see behind me without looking back. Like he said you are way more fragile than a car and a lot of cars don’t pay attention. Or if even I want to cross a road. It would be so much easier if I had a mirror. I only ride on roads that have bike lanes or are residential roads. It’s way too dangerous to be driving on main roads without bike lanes and I would also be impeding traffic. I’ve always hated bicyclist so now that I’m one I make sure to be a damn considerate and smart one. 😂
We don’t have those bike lanes or bike routes where I live I have to ride in the street on the main road in traffic Also, I wish I had an ebike Rn I just have normal bikes
Hand signals only work if both you and motorists around you know what they mean. I don’t signal a Right turn because I’m not crossing anyone’s path of travel and hold my Left arm out straight to signal a Left turn.
A bike on a curb riding against traffic can it cross the road to continue riding on curb against traffic? Oregon. Would they continue to have right of way?
In some areas it's even indicted by bike lanes to cross the intersection and wait with the cross traffic. It takes more time, but it keeps you protected and not having to cross lanes of traffic.
Good presentation. l would like to add that high visibility clothing and flashing lights for your bike are enhancements to safe riding. My bike didn't come with turn signals, but I'm going to order a set, front and rear. Until then, I'll continue to use hand signals. Lastly, drivers can be unpredictable at times, so you have to try to anticipate their unexpected lane changes and other erratic behaviors. Sometimes they might have their blinker on, but continue on, straight into you, if you didn't yield to them. It's hard, but you really have to consider all the possibilities and plan accordingly. It's my responsibility to signal my intentions and be as predictable as possible. Tracking a straight path, not weaving or zig zagging. Lastly, a word of caution regarding riding on sidewalks. As l approach pedestrians, especially from behind, it's important to determine if they have earbuds on. They may not hear your horn. I also try to avoid startling people. Reduce your speed and try to be considerate. Thanks again for your reminders about checking your bike over first, before riding. Please be safe everyone. Happy Trails!!!
If that is what you want to wear, get after it! Safety first. Some may consider it overkill, but everyone has their own style and what makes them feel safe.
Truly Appreciate the Guide! About to transition my daily routine into something local. E-biking will definitely keep the cost down 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it! And good luck getting an ebike
@@ElectricBikeJournalhey, I know this a pretty dumb question, but would all of these rules apply for an e scooter?
Great info! So many cyclist and motorist are in need of learning about the rules of the road!
Thanks! We agree, hope this helps some.
New subscriber here, totally unfamiliar with E bikes but, looking for an alternative for in town errands. Thanks for the refresher!
Thanks! and you are welcome!
Guys Thanks I have shared this with a lot of folks.. I’m still amazed that folks don’t have a clue
of Rules of The Road.. Thanks..
You're welcome! Than you for sharing the video.
While checking your equipment, adjust the mirror for best rear visibility. If your jacket is a dark color, wear a slip on safety vest.
Best advice here 💯
You should add at one left mirror 😊😊😊😊😊

Hello sir while riding on road
Cycle cannot be ride on express highway and how to know this road is express is there any sign for this highway on road
Not mentioning the benefit of why the front light is on during the day is an over-sight.
well, go ahead and explain it.
what do i do if there are cars behind me and i need to turn left at an intersection

Is wearing armor like a motorcycle jacket with CE armor and knee pads overkill?

"you are more fragile than a car" 😂 thanks for reminder!
