Pre-placement & Fitness-for-duty: A Framework for Evaluation

  • This past installment of the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine grand rounds, on Tuesday 16-July-2024, focused on pre-placement & fitness-for-duty as described by Camille O. Napier, MD, MPH, FACP, FACOEM.
    Dr. Camille Napier is a board-certified physician, educator, and administrator with over twenty years of experience in occupational and internal medicine disease management, wellness promotion, communicable disease surveillance, and quality improvement. Dr. Napier received her medical degree and masters’ degree in public health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center.
    Dr. Napier began her career in internal medicine private practice, transitioning later to occupational medicine, working as a clinician and Assistant Professor at the Mount Sinai Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health, as the Deputy Medical Director for the Occupational Health Care Facility at the New York City Department of Sanitation, and then as the Medical Director of the New York Hotel Trade Midtown Health Center. Later, she worked at Reed Group as the Head of the Medical Leaves of Absence team for Goldman Sachs Americas.
    Most recently, she rejoined Mount Sinai as the lead physician in Employee Health Services. She also serves as Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and lectures graduate students, residents, and faculty on various healthcare topics. She is a part of several national organizations including the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, where she is a fellow, a member of the Direct Education Programs Oversight Committee (DEPOC), Corporate Medicine & Medical Center Sections, and past member of the board of the New York Chapter. She is also a fellow at the American College of Physicians.
