WOW!! Memories of when I was a volunteer fireman and we repowered our old Seagrave pump with a 6V-53T. The 13-ton truck had the same pep with the 6V-53T as it did with the V-12 gasser it replaced.
Good info, thanks!! Pherhaps you may tell us how was the performance, i mean, how did they pull and how was the fuel mealeage. Its a shame, most of the new generations only have the chance to know this trucks whith this particular engine in youtube.
I just found one of these with an automatic 6v53 its a 75 for a 1000 bucks out in the midwest i wanna get it soo bad its in really great condition. Buts its too far and im not workin right now.
My first time with a 6V-53 ' screamer ' was taking a D/ Reo back to a metal co. after my friend and his brother serviced the truck at their garage. Both were certified mechanics and worked on many different diesels, American & European. There were other 2 stroke diesels, but didn't have the success of the Detroit. White Motor Corp. bought Superior engine to manufacture its own engines, and changed the name to White Diesel. There was an I-6 2 stroke and an ex - perimental V-4 w/a recuperative cycle. These didn't go very far as White got into financial trouble and sold off many divisions before go- ing into bankruptcy. Does anyone remember the V-6 Cummins made in Shotts, Scotland? My last job had them in 2 Michigan loaders, and at high rev they sounded a little bit like a G.M. Detroit.
The 2 stroke Cummins would be extremely rare I remember reading about them. Only Commer TS3, Foden 6 and some UD engines which were a rip off from GM are the other brands used in a truck.
So you are saying that the powerstroke and duramax engines are fake? Or shit? I can't see how a 6v53 is much better than either engines. In fact some models are proven better.
seamonsterdinosaur no whats he is saying that for something made back in the 50s thay still just keep on going thay are 600.000 mile engine i have a friend that has a 471 out of a gmc 950 and has 567.898 miles on it and we turboed it and oh man it sweet but all he is saying is this is one of the best kinds of diesel engine made but cummins are better
Well if that's the case I can understand, but all he said is that they're not real. They can last longer than what I need. By the time i reach 200k miles i will want something different.
What a absolutely beast of a truck! It makes me happy that there are men and women to preserve legends like this!

This engine came in tandem dump truck. Back in the early 1970s. It had a 5&4 auxiliary transmission. Actually 2 transmissions under it.

Sweet 6v53 sound, nice audio quality, but does he not know how to down shift??? Still gonna give a thumbs up though.
He needs to learn how drive that Jimmy like he stole it
Sounds like a V6

Cummins, is a good engine!
What transmission are you running? 15 or an early super 10?
Is that a compression realease right side.
Fuel shut off valve, maybe. If I remember all the Detroit's I've driven had one. But it's been a long time .
@Mr Sunshines damn, you like giving sh*t to everyone
Better than fuso super great
real diesels dont use intake valves
2サイクルだね
Andrew Kuhn Could you please repeat that?
