Had 2 Rupp roadster and rupp black widow they were the best mini bikes of the time. Was the time of the mini bike craze best time of my life like ken said could never stop smiling.
Man, I always wanted a mini bike since I was about 10 year's old, well now I'm 66 years old, I just bought me a new Massimo 200mb mini bike, man now I feel like I'm 10 again !
You're absolutely right dude - best medicine out there. Yep, if riding one of those doesn't bring a smile it's not to be had. Rode a Kawi back in the 70's. Going a bit crazy with the COVID shut down last April, I went to a local dealer one Friday afternoon - my Jeep/Trailer was the only vehicle in the parking lot. Loaded up a brand new bright green Kawi KLX140. Being 66 years old, the smile is the same riding the 140 as it was back in 1965 riding a FOX Campus mini-bike. Twisting the throttle on two wheels will always do it for me!
Man that brings back memories! In 1971 I got my first motorcycle, or should I say mini bike. It was the year after that one, A Rupp trail roadster 2, a couple of improvements was the ‘71 had a torque converter like a snowmobile, and chrome fenders and a chrome tailpipe that ran along under the seat and out the back. I was 5-1/2 years old that summer and thought I was evil kinevil on that thing ! Had a blast on it , started my motorcycle fever for sure! I love all of Kens videos and am really looking forward to going and meeting him and touring the museum!✌🏻
Got my first minibike when I was 7, it was a 79 honda Z50. That bike changed my life and I've been riding ever since. It's like therapy without the shrink!
Great video except for the part when you say for kids under 65. I’m 65 and it would definitely put a smile on my face to ride that rupp roadster. When I was 14 I cut grass all summer and bought a black widow. Can’t believe I sold it to buy a set of craiger mag wheels for my 1972 starsky n Hutch Torino. Black Widow was a real chick magnet 🧲. Have a nice day and stay safe live to ride n ride to live. 😎🇺🇸
My Parents who both have passed were wonderful they raised 6 kids with lots of love 💘 my dad didn't like motorcycles but they still purchased me a used Rupp Speedway Scorpion mini bike. I was begging them for a Honda Mini Trail they ended up buying me the Rupp which was my first 2 wheel motorized bike what a cool little machine this was July 1971 which ended up being one of my most memorable birthdays.
Bought a mini bike a few weeks ago. Most fun I’ve had in a long time, and healthy too. Sold it a week later and just bought a dr350 today. Thanks for the fun videos and getting me into riding! Biggest smile on my face when I was ripping that little lawn mower bike in the desert;)
That was great ! Cool little mini, but the laugh I got from Ken being such a character is priceless . The glimpse I got of your daughters face when you started singing was great lol!! Or the young lady I think you said that was your daughter. Congrats my friend on the 29 years , world needs more role models like you , not about being perfect or always making right decision .... Its about doing your best , looking up, and striving for what's right, hope you all have a blast at unidilla , wish I could be there👍💪
Hey Kaplan, good for you man. My girl told me she was pregnant over 17 years ago,,,,I walked ovwr to rhe dridge,,dumped out my booze and havnt had a drink or anything else since. My kid will be 17 on the 19th and i can say hes never seen me drunk, Good work Kaplan,,Im proud of you!!!
Awe man thats so true, getting kids on prozac, just get em a bike. I remember when I was a 10 my dad bought me a 70s z50 that thing was ghetto but honestly i had so much fun riding that thing! I have a yz426f now and my wife has a scrambler 500
This is all I watch now! I’m in Indiana but gonna plan a trip this fall to come see the museum! Hopefully get to meet captain Kaplan and Jr. Looking forward to it!
Right on Bro, RideOn!!! ,lol.. Dad brought me a Hornet Minibike & color was aqua blue black with a white3hp Brigstratt motor from Woolworth for my 1971 Xmas present🎁@age 10 going on 11 ... I was the envy of all the kids of whom i got the best xmas present in the whole neighborhood! Wowww whata flashback of my childhood..Thanks for sharing Bro , Just brought a 1970 Arco 61/2 hp..Will most definitely pass it on to my grandkid for xmas! God is Good 😇 #Ride On Bro #Right On!!!
Wow I never new your sobriety story. I've been clean for about a year now and I watch your videos because dirt bikes were what I was addicted to before drugs. These vids have been keeping me sober before I ever knew about you ending your relationship with intoxicating substances. Thanks for all the good stuff. Haha also I wanted to say one time I was on my friends Honda VF750 V45 cruising along on the highway on my way to work. Along came a Porshe 911 probably early 90's or late 80's and the driver wanted to race. As soon as I gave it the business she shut off. I coasted to the end of the next off ramp. Confused and worried I found out eventually I forgot to turn the gas on. Lol couldn't believe I went as far as I did though on just the gas in the car
Congrats on the 29 years clean Ken. I sling booze for a living at my family's bars. It's done well for us but not well for others who dont know when enough is enough. Iv my own issues an well 9 years this past Feb. Never thought id be here but i am.. Just got back from a ride on my ol fxr..now that was a high!
Lmao.. this vid reminds me of a older fellow that drives a moped around this area to go to work and what not.. Lol.. he always has a grin when he's riding it.😀
hey cap i think even more important than the rup vid is what you said about being solber i think is the message of the day vid of the day .Is a great thing to say 1 day 1 month one year but 30 wow and your right when you said you seen your friends and fam pass from that eather itwill make you angry and bitter someone passed and you drink and drug reck your life or you say God give me the strenth to change you did and to me your life looks awsome i so respect that see your vids are all diferent but i tell you people pick up on the important ones May God Keep Blessing you and America in these tuff times Trump 2020🏁🇺🇲🏁🇺🇲🏁🇺🇲🏁🇺🇲🏁🇺🇲 ss
Max torque clutch chain drive to jack shaft. Mine was the same way, i bought it for 8.00 no engine or belt drive, used the engine clutch off my Ruttman. 16 cents to fill up with gas and ride all day... 1977-78
I had a 1971 Rupp Roadster 2 my first mini bike. I was in Jr. high and rode with my buddies that had Honda CT 70’s. It could just barely keep up with them. I think the torque converter just took away or slipped taking the power or something. Specs said the engine was 172cc but didn’t keep up with the Honda’s.
I got a rupp as well my dad got one with a broken engine for free. I have no clue what the model is but it looks just like that besides it has a number plate instead of a light, fuel tank is missing, no rear brake light, and only a rear brake. I did what I had to do and swapped a 212cc into it, along with a better torque converter as the original snapped trying to turn it over
Rupps are cool ken but Honda ct 70 you could slam into a wall not change oil for 40 years and they kick over in 1 two 3 kicks and run for another 40 years. Rupps are probably the best lawn mower engine mini bikes.
My buddy Scotty had one of those. I had a Bultaco 370 Frontera. I might have launched a bit of sand in his face a time or two. Sorry dude it's only rock and roll.
I just got a 1972 Rockford Bridgestone 60 cc Chibi Has three speed with real clutch two stroke. I need a few parts . Anyone have a clutch lever and mount? My first real motor bike.
that's cool bout no drugs or alchol but id rather see someone smoke weed then drink or or sniff shit up there nose people that smoke weed are easy to deal with they just wanna eat a sandwhich n take a nap lol
Nice! I bought a '71 roadster 2 well, I should say what was left of a roaster 2. I don't have the funds and to me it's not worth it to restore so I'm turning it into a dirt drag/vintage styled pit bike. I've gusseted the frame, strengthened the swingarm, bought some adjustable shocks for the rear, gonna rebuild the front end. I wish it would've came with it's gas tank but the previous owner hacked the tank mounts off the frame. Long story short it's gonna be a monster lol check out my build on Instagram @slasher_mini3

So proud of you and your commitment to staying sober. Glory to God🙏
Had 2 Rupp roadster and rupp black widow they were the best mini bikes of the time. Was the time of the mini bike craze best time of my life like ken said could never stop smiling.

Learned to ride on a Rupp Roadster when I was 5. (48yrs ago) My friend had a Honda Trail 70. To this day I'm still pissed & jealous

Probably the best purchase you'll ever makes Smiles per mile
Where I live here in CT there are very few place to ride anymore.

God so fun made my day. 💘
Good for daily commute 👍🏻
The best part of these videos is ken sr seriously rides all the bikes not a oh look it runs a ima fly by with a smile and enjoy this as it should be
Ken, when you’re riding this, all I can hear is the Banana Splits theme playing
Ken you’re cracking me up!
Lmao.. this vid reminds me of a older fellow that drives a moped around this area to go to work and what not.. Lol.. he always has a grin when he's riding it.😀

1:52 The best advice for parents out there ☺️
I love mini bikes i have a 2000’s LEM 50cc 2 stroke dirt mini bike
We had something like that as a kid. Me and my uncle would go to the gas station and get two dollars worth of gas and ride it all day long.
I had a 1971 Rupp Roadster 2 my first mini bike. I was in Jr. high and rode with my buddies that had Honda CT 70’s. It could just barely keep up with them. We called them tote goats when I was 12 built two of them with 5hp Briggs
For a second i thought it was "Krupp"
Rupps are cool ken but Honda ct 70 you could slam into a wall not change oil for 40 years and they kick over in 1 two 3 kicks and run for another 40 years. Rupps are probably the best lawn mower engine mini bikes.
Congratulations on not drinking since 1991 that’s awesome
My dad shot himself in 1997 because of alcohol and drugs
Aging is mandatory, maturing, not so much. Too much fun!
Send it Kenny...........
How much is it?
shouldn't there be a chain guard on that exposed primary chain?
My buddy Scotty had one of those. I had a Bultaco 370 Frontera. I might have launched a bit of sand in his face a time or two. Sorry dude it's only rock and roll.
You look like a lil kid in a candy store kap lol nice lil bike she will Rip the house right off the foundation 💪😎🇺🇲🍻
I used to have one. Someone replaced the torque converter with a centrifugal clutch and chain on this one.
Lmmfao It’s the great race Charlie brown
👍😎👌😊
ken you turned the fuel off
I just got a 1972 Rockford Bridgestone 60 cc Chibi
Has three speed with real clutch two stroke.
I need a few parts .
Anyone have a clutch lever and mount?
My first real motor bike.
Mavric supersonic be there in 30 seconds🙂👌
Cool piece sketchy AF! ✌️🇺🇸
Bike has theft prevention pull start like it
Drinking and drugging is no good. That Rupp however, now that is!!
that's cool bout no drugs or alchol but id rather see someone smoke weed then drink or or sniff shit up there nose people that smoke weed are easy to deal with they just wanna eat a sandwhich n take a nap lol
